Pal Mickey

We were able to get a free day with the DVC member promotion. Unfortunately we waited until almost the end of our trip to try it. My girls enjoyed it a lot. They took turns with it and it really kept them occupied and taught them some things as we went through the park.

After seeing how much they enjoyed it, we decided to go ahead and buy it after our free day. We don't usually spend a lot on souvenirs, so this was a big purchase for us. I haven't regretted it. We'll be able to take it on our next trip.

I love mine! Make sure that they download the park info! I missed the first couple of days because mine wasn't downloaded properly.

I've read a couple of threads since they've come out that Pal Mickey's have developed their own legs. I dont' want to have to worry about something like that happening so until Disney can personalize them somehow I won't risk getting upset.

Anyone else worry about Pal Mickey being mousenapped?

DD (5) loved hers at the park and still will listen to the jokes at home.

Because of the post prior to our trip, we were concerned about mousenapping. We kept him with us. A couple times we left him in the stroller and were a little concerned, but he stayed with his family.

I have 2 ds's 8,4 and was considering getting one but DH thinks the boys won't be interested and it'll be just ANOTHER stuffed animal that talks and annoys. Opinions?? I know it depends on your own kid but does anyone have boys the same ages as mine and bought one??? I doubt DH would go for renting one.

I put a water bottle strap around his neck and carried him with me. He didn't bother me at all. I could also feel him vibrate and that was when I knew that I should give him a squeeze so that he could tell me something about the attraction that we were at.

I did leave him at the hotel on the days that it rained because I didn't want to get him wet.

from Ebay. I received it today. It is brand new and he arrived safely in just 2 days! With shipping and insurance, I actually spent less than I would have if I had waited to purchase him in the parks. Now I just can't wait to get down to the World and try him out!
:D

Me too.. I just got mine from an Ebay purchase also.... He is ADORABLE!!! So cute.. and not too big... he is the perfect companion... now I wouldn't mind taking that solo trip.. I won't feel so alone!! LOL! LOL!! even if you don't buy one.. you should at least rent one for a day... but be careful.. he is addicting!! Everyone in my office wanted to play with him....

Thanks for letting us know. Our Pal Mickey has arrived. ::MickeyMo We are leaving next week. I am trying to find a way to "personalize" him. I know it won't make much difference if he is stolen, but I am sewing a little hat on his head, being careful not to interfere with the wires inside and the zipper that goes up the back. I also put my name, name of resort, and cell phone # inside his shorts and also in the zippered compartment in case we leave him somewhere and an honest person finds him. We will also use the water bottle strap to carry him around. There is a lot to keep track of in WDW. I can't wait to go! :p

Please, can someone explain to me what he really does. DD-9 and I will be visiting Jan 7-15, I'm trying to make this trip as eduactional as I can. Would he help? She is at tha age where she wants to learn about everything, and how everything works/

I just won my Pal Mickey on Ebay last night for only $32.00 which is SO cool :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

My question is since he has all that electronic stuff inside has anyone had a problem at the airport? My dh is worried that we will have an issue with it.

JRTINKERBELL-I don't have mine yet but Pal Mickey is kind of like a tour guide. My understanding is that as you go into the park he will download information from that park. He can tell you the times of parades and even how long the wait time in some lines are. He also tells a lot of corny jokes that little ones probably love...and even some big ones. Throughout the parks he is supposed to update himself. I am sure someone else can explain it better :D

Our pal Mickey was stolen in a matter of about 2 minutes. I have to wonder why anyone on ebay would sell a pal Mickey at a loss. I have always wondered whether someone could do good business mousenapping and re selling. I don't mean to rain on parades, but it really does not make sense to sell something like that at a loss.

The Pal Mickey that I won was listed as being used by the person who sold it. It is going to require a little cleaning which I had no problem with and intended to do anyway. Could they be lying?-I guess they could but I had never even considered that as I tend to be a pretty trusting person and what you are implying truly never even occurred to me.

I have every intention of reselling my Pal Mickey when I got home. I fully expect to get less then it originally cost because it will be used. I would certainly hope that people would not think that I am a thief just because I happen to have a Pal Mickey for sale for less then $60.

It is really rotten that people have had theirs stolen and I will definitely use suggestions here to keep an eye on ours.

You've got a good point. As you can see it still smarts from having ours taken. I am a trusting person too, which is why I have wondered so much about it. I don't want to believe families or Disney lovers would steal from me.

On a positive note, I spent the rest of our vacation reminding anyone who I noticed leaving the little guy to hold onto him. Hopefully saved someone's!

I just ordered my Pal MICKEY through Disney Merchandise. Don't have the number w/me - it was $56.33 plus tax plus shipping. I saw one on EBay - starting price was cheaper BUT once you add tax and shipping I was right back up to $60. It was a bit more through Disney Merchandise but I wanted it in hand BEFORE I got to WDW on 12/25 - not taking any chances!!!
