Pal Mickey

Hi,

I purchased Pal Mickey new in the box off eBay. I thought about selling him when we get back, so I saved the orginal box. I will only sell him if I think my grandson will lose interest in him once we get home.

I can surely see Michelle's point about people selling Mickeys on eBay that may have been stolen at the park, but anyone selling a Mickey on eBay that is not new in box, would probably have to sell him at a loss, since he is used, not mint in box. I'm really sorry this happened to you, Michelle. I know I would feel the same way if it happened to me.

We are leaving on Monday. Michelle, can you tell us how and where your Pal Mickey was stolen? It might help some of us if we knew how it happened. I remember walking out of Captain Cooks without my video camera (there is so much to keep track of). Luckily, only about a minute or two passed and it was still hung over the chair where I left it. Are there people snatching Pal Mickeys and running or is it more that there are people watching and waiting for someone to let their guard down? Thanks for your help.

I got Pal Mickey last year and loved him. I hope he will be a big help during our CHristmas trip. I think he is worth the price. We only paid the $50, but I do think that even at $60 he is worth it.

It's just beyond me how people - especially people at WDW- could steal something. We went through 2 umbrella stollers in 1 weekend 2 yrs ago which was only 10 each. But my PAL Mickey??? I would be totally disgusted!!!

Here's a thought....when I get mine in the mail I'm going to try to attach some type of elastic (like the key chains) to it and then attach the other end to my sons belt or belt loops. This way he can grab Mickey and listen/play with him but it will still be attached.

Glad I've got mine coming about 10 days before we leave, at least I can figure out something.

I agree, it is very disturbing that people would steal Pal Mickey at WDW who is, for the most part, intended for children.

Like I said, I think I will carry Mickey around my neck on a water bottle holder. I read that his voice is sometimes hard to hear when you are in a noisy place or outside, so I will tell my grandson that if I carry Mickey around my neck, it will be at the right height for him to hear what Mickey is saying, instead of constantly having to hold him up to his ear. Not sure if my grandson will go for this, but what the heck. And since I already have my (er, I mean "our") Pal Mickey, I have sewn on a little santa claus hat. I doubt this will help prevent him from getting stolen by "personalizing" him this way, in fact, I wonder if I have made him more desirable. Oh well. I will try to be very careful with him and hope for the best.

Sorry...just got back. We were in AK at primevil whirl. Four of us went on, no line, and my DM stayed with DS4. As we were exiting he insisted that he needed to find a bathroom...now! Mom saw us coming so took him to the RR. It was prob. just a minute before we got to the stroller. It was about 10 minutes before I noticed him missing. Snuck off while they were on Dinosaur and purchased another one. Didn't have the heart to tell my DS4 that his Mickey was gone.

We had him on a cord, but since they were staying at stroller I didn't keep him with me. So, as I said, my random acts of kindness for the rest of the trip was to remind people leaving them in strollers to hold on to him! It helped to act proactively!

Have an awesome time on your trips! But hold on to that little cutie!

My Pal Mickey was taken right out of a fishnet bag we had hanging on our stroller. We were at Epcot and stopped in Italy for lunch. My 6 yo DS decided that he didn't want to take PM into the restaurant and put him in the bag. Neither my wife nor I noticed that he did that. It was only when we were leaving the restaurant that I asked him where PM was and he told me where he put it. I immediately had a sinking feeling and sure enough, it was gone.

Well gee, Mike and Michelle, having your Pal Mickeys stolen at Disney really stinks!

Thank you for sharing your stories. It was a big help to me and I'm sure others. I appreciate it.

Again sorry. I hope other than that, you all had a wonderful time.

I used Pal Mickey in MK, Epcot and Studios last week. He is fantastic! My 3.5 year-old nephew had one too, and I'm not sure who loves him more!

In World Showcase Mickey offers many facts about the different countries and teaches you some phrases in various languages. Info includes customs, things to look for in the architecture, greetings, show times and character appearances. Very cool.

In MK he told me when lines were short, where the characters were, when the parades would start and where to get a good view, etc. He also had some very cute things to say during a couple of attractions (but not in a way that would disrupt or distract me or anyone else).

For us Pal Mickey was definitely an enhancement. I kept him securely tied around my neck and all five adults in our group made it a point to keep an eye on my nephew's Mickey.

Happy Thanksgiving!
