I bought a Pal Mickey back when they first come out. In 2002 I think. Anyhow will he still work this summer when we go back?

We have what I like to call a "Classic Pal Mickey" as well.

He has made many trips with us since we bought him right after they first became avalialble a few years back.

Our last trip was just this Jan.-Feb. '06 and he still works just great
(wiggled and giggled and talked all the time.)

He will be leading us again thru WDW in less than 60 days as we make a mid-May trip (woo-hoo!)

BTW, my DW has made him numerous outfits and we also have bought a couple of the new ones that Disney is selling.
They fit both the "Classic" or the "50th Special Edition" Pal Mickey.

Where can I find outfits for Pal Mickey? Are they online? I got ours in 2004 so is He the classic model?

Does she have a base pattern that she might be willing to share? I just got my Mickey and want to start making him clothes.

This site has a lot of info on where to get clothes for the Pal Mickey. They are a bunch of fun, crazy people. I enjoy looking at the pictures & reading the stories.

www.palmickey.net

However, there isn't anything about making them.

I have seen on these boards where several people have taken their old Pal Mickey's to guest services and they have either given them a new one or upgraded him.

The "upgrade" statement is a total misunderstanding of what goes on.

The only thing that you can have done to a "classic" Pal Mickey is a "re-boot" (a "re-start" so to speak).

It does not make the "old" Mickey into a "new" one, or even "add" anything that the "old" one did not already "have before".

Its just a fresh re-start of the chip(s) inside.
If you have a "classic" original Pal Mickey and you bring him into a WDW theme-park and he "wiggles and giggles" and tells you park info... he's not in need of an "upgrade".

As far as "trading in a new one for an old one"...

Here's a quote from the following link. (I do NOT know how RECENT this info is):

http://palmickey.net/

(Click on "NEWS")

QUOTE-

Note About Older Versions of Pal Mickey: Due to the misinformation on certain message boards, I called the Main Street Cinema at the Magic Kingdom to verify. Cast Member John has CONFIRMED that the older Pal Mickey (any version prior to the HCOE version) can only be "updated" with the park's daily information (parade and show times, etc. - as stated in the instruction booklet) and can NOT be "updated" in any other way. In reality, their use of the term "updating" means to "re-set" him to enable him to receive signals from the emitters and to properly respond. However, the older Pal Mickeys can NOT be made to provide information on any of the newer attractions (Soarin', LMA, Everest, etc.), or to have the latest features (singing, louder voice, new games, trivia, interacting with the Glow medallion). These are the facts. I hate to see people buying the original at a huge discount and being disappointed that he won't do what they thought. The original Pal can still be fun (both of mine "do the parks" together often), but has limited capabilities.

If you have an older Pal and would like to "trade up" to a new one, you can at this time do that at the Main Street Cinema for $40 with your trade in. They did not have that offer when the new Pal first came out, but I am sure this will be for a "limited time only."

If he didn't come wearing a TUXEDO, he's a "classic" Pal.

There are four outfits offered by Disney for sale..

They are $10 each and can be found at several places at WDW
(DTD at World of Toys is where we bought ours.)

You can usually find the outfits on eBay.
You can search eBay for "Pal Mickey Outfit" and at least SEE the outfits that way, even if you wait until you go to WDW to buy them (or order them via Disney Merchandise.)

Hi all...

I'm one of the people whose Pal Mickey is on the Pal Mickey site (www.palmickey.net). I wish I could sew and make outfits!! Some of the members can and make wonderful stuff.

The rest of us scrounge around in Michaels, Build-A-Bear, eBay, baby clothes, etc., etc. I'm glad Disney came out with outfits - but DISNEY: Why NO pants?!!! (there are no pants with any of the outfits!!!)

PS: There is a link on the site that shows all the WDW outfits you can buy and a review of them.

No pattern at all.

She'd find other "doll oufits" and modify them or use them as a "pattern" to sew new ones.

We get lots of comments from CM's and guests about our "special" PM outfits.

Personally I am looking for someone who DOES sew as I'd like to have a special outfit made. PM me if you would be interested in such a project.

Robo - we always get lots of comments from CM's and guests too! They usually want to know where they can buy Pal Mickey thinking he comes dressed like we have him!

By the way, we have Pal Mickey Meet-ups and Gatherings. In January, we are having our first "Pal Mickey Gathering at Sea" as we're doing a DCL cruise! (now he needs cruisewear!)

Just a heads up for those who have not heard - -

Word is that the current "Happiest Celebration On Earth" version of Pal Mickey will no longer be sold at WDW after September (when DL's 50th celebration ends). I'm guessing they will release yet another new version of Pal Mickey, but I don't have any firm details on that yet. When I do I will post it on PalMickey.net.

Sure.

And I want him, too.

I don't think shelling out $60-$90 is too much when, unlike the two "has-been versions" the new one will be able to tell me about ALL the new attractions that weren't being built when the old Pals were created.

Like...

ummm...

ohhh...

Oh yeah,

The "Finding Nemo" Clamshell ride at Living Seas.

and

The "Finding Nemo" Musical at DAK.

and

ummm...

Oh well,

I guess they could call him Pal Mickey "Finding Nemo" edition.

:)

LOL - Not sure. Won't they be celebrating Pooh at the same time? :teeth:

The main reason I'll get a new one if they release one is because I take mine to the parks so much that he starts looking a bit old and tired by the time the next version arrives! :lmao:

Oh, you mean your older one could be called

"PALE Mickey".

:goodvibes

No - More like "dirty hands Pal" plus he wears quite a bit from all the clothes changing, but yes I guess he fades a bit in the face also. I don't trash him. My mom has my first one and when I get another one the HCOE Pal will still have a home. If I only visited a few times per year, I don't think I'd bother getting a new version unless it was a major improvement. But being there 100+ times per year, the "per visit" cost for a new Pal is insignificant for me. Besides, most of us Pal Mickey club members think he is worth it, but we understand when others don't. :)
