Pal Mickey (& Friends) Adventures & Fashions

I am soooo jealous. Wish I could have done the MMM this year...maybe next year. All of my "Disney heros" were there and I'll bet the presentations were amazing! The pictures of the new venue look fab.

DisGal, how did you ever make a helmet for Mick?

You guys are amazing! I had a really rough week last week and after reading this thread this morning, it was just the pick-me-up I needed.

DisneyDeeva - yes the Disboards are good when we have rough days. Take two threads and check them in the morning I always say.

Helmet: purchase a half ball of styrofoam. Get the hard styrofoam and its easier if you buy the half ball so you don't need to cut it in half. It should be large enough so that you can scoop out some of the inside. Like using a melon baller on a cantalope. Only more difficult because you need to carefully use a sharp knife - it crumbles easily. And don't cut out very much. Keep testing it on Pal's head as you carve. It's not supposed to fit over his ears, but will set on top of his head. Ears will stick out cutely.

Gently punch two small holes in the helmet where the strap will go on each side. Then use fabric glue to adhere a long length of thin ribbon under the 'helmet'. This is fabric glue, NOT hot glue (its styrofoam and we don't want any melting)Thread one end through one hole and tie in a knot so knot is inside the helmet. put drop of glue on knot. Do same on other side. Good to let all this dry before putting any fabric on outside of helmet.

Use bright color fabric for the activity he will be wearing helmet for. Make sure the circle of fabric is way larger than the helmet so uou can crease and tuck under as you go. This is time consuming as fabric glue is best to let dry few minutes after each tuck while you hold it tightly to the styrofoam.......oh....did I mention this is not easy and should be done on a day you have lots of free time......OK. :rotfl: Thin fabric will show the fabric glue globs so you need a substantial fabric.

So that the helemt does not slip around on his head it is good to make two ribbon straps for each side........yes....you guessed it....so one ribbon goes behind the ear and the second ribbon goes in front of the ear. Then when you ties both ribbons in front, his helmet should stay on. And as a dear friend of mine would say, "Viola - you got a helmet!". I would say voilla!, but she prefers viola. :lmao:

good luck. let us know if you create a helmet for your guy

Does anyone know if the BAB clothes fit PM? Just curious. I just purchased some PM clothes off of eBay, and if BABW clothes fit, then I will head to the mall and buy some outfits there.

DisGal,That's awesome...Thanx for the instructions. I'm sooo going to give it a shot! We are doing the Segway Around The World Tour at the end of September. Are the "people" helmets for that plain white?

Shanon, the BAB clothes are way to big. I did take the Buzz Lightyear costume apart and remake it but it was a ton of work. The shoes fit OK but I prefer the infant size 1 shoes from Walmart - they are narrower and seem to look better with most of his outfits (even though I have to do a fair amount of stuffing).

Most BABW clothes are too big for Pal, but if you are handy with a sewing machine some folks have altered them. Depending on the item, some need more altering than others. There are few web sites that sell some clothing items that fit PM - t-shirts, shorts, etc. You need to look for bear or doll clothes that fit 10-11" bears...and then "adjust" for bellies, etc. Actually, the biggest issue can sometimes be getting over his head, or his hands and/or feet.

I made a bunch of my own clothes for my PM, but it's pretty time consuming. Some folks buy and strip the Starbucks Bearista bears...if you can find those, they have cool outfits too.

Are you looking for anything in particular? Most folks here can help you find items!

DisneyDeeva - The people helmets we were given were white with black band around the edges. Straps were black. PM's helmet I covered with green/brown/black camoflage material. I also made him a neckerchief to wear around his neck with it. He wore a white t shirt and black shorts that day. His sandals were same pattern as helmet. Your Pal will fit in the zip pouch that is afixed to the handlebars. He can stand up in there with hands and head out. And also there is room in pouch for your camera. DO NOT forget the camera!

You will love the Segway there. You've probably read that after the training portion, you are taken to the World Showcase and you get to ride throughout it with the instructors. World Showcase is not open to the public for the first two training sessions, so aside from the gardening staff and instructors, its just the Segway class. That was just awesome riding through the pavillion area and hearing the instructors tell you lots of inside things. But the Segway itself was wonderful. We would do it again! Enjoy it!

tinker1bell -

Tell us please what the Mega Mouse meet was. Is this a Disney sponsored event?

Great fun for you on the Segway I bet. They are just so cool. I did the Segway Tour of Epcot's World Showcase in May. Little Pal Mickey went with me. Had to make him a helmet too!

The best thing is to look at All Ears. net and there is a thing you can click on. Not really a Disney sponsored event but it was so much fun because it is Disney lovers. You get to meet 500 other people who share your love of anything Disney. They have speakers and you really learn a lot at this event. The prizes were awsome. They also had a silent auction.

I have a helmet I made for Chuckie back when I was following Lance Armstrong in the Tour de France.
I hope they will have Segways for us to ride next year.
Since this is so close to home, I will be there again.

The only thing from BAB that fits are the shoes. The clothing is way too big.
Go to Michaels or A C Moore. I have about 10 pairs of shoes and various outfits that I have purchased.

For those of you who don't know him - "Scoop Sanderson" is a character who frequents Main Street USA and is THE pin guy in MK. He used to have "Scoop's Pin Talks" during the week, but they are on hiatus...no one knows if they will come back or not.

Anyhoo, I loved going to his talks and hearing about upcoming pins, etc. Since my PAL loves to pin trade too (and has a good collection of mini pins), he wanted to be a "groupie". So I made this outfit so he could be just like his "idol"! He'll wear it proudly at the September Pin Event, along with his lanyard.

As usual, comments are always welcome!

He is just too sweet!

Can a potential Pal Mickey Adoptee ask a question? :)

What "clothes" fit him best? Build-a-bear, or cabbage patch, or ?????
For future reference that is ;)

Both BAB and CP clothes are usually too big for Mick. Best bet is to look for stuff that fits 10-11" plush. I have a whole box full of naked plush in my closet LOL!

Love the outfit. :goodvibes
I see you and your sisters will be in our happy place in October. A bunch of us DDA people are going to be there from Oct. 18 till at least Oct. 23.

OK, now someone has to come to Fayetteville and teach me how to sew! I am so inspired by all of these outfits that have been made, but I do not know how to sew!:sad2:

Patty and everyone - does anyone know if Scoop is back on Main St? I have never seen him in person. Except in May I swear I saw someone dressed like he does (and like the little guy above) in the middle of Main St in MK. We were rushing off to take the horse carriage ride to the castle so I did not investigate. Wish I had.

Scoop is on Main Street only these days...if you stop at Town Hall they can usually tell you if he's around that day and when he'll be out. I've run into him twice on Main Street myself!

oh yes - a picture would be great. Come on all you pin traders out there. Somebody has to have a recent picture!
