Pal Mickey (& Friends) Adventures & Fashions

At one point, I know that Walmart and Shopko also had the crocs. I got mine last year so I'm not sure if they still do. At the time, they had pink, blue, and green.

Today was just awsome. Stephanie and I went to the Pow Wow and met Becky there. We had ringside seats. Since this was a smaller one, there were not a lot of people there which was nice. You could see the dancers up close. The Head Dancers "To Be Announced" actually were not there so another couple stepped in and did a really fine job. The announcer was great too. He really took the time to explain each dance and the significance of it. The one dance was called the Grievance Dance. It is to honor the ones who had crossed over or who are in pain. The Grandmother was led by the Head Dancers and another man who walked with her so tall and straight but you could just see his head nodding to the music.
They had a candy dance where the children danced and when the music stopped, they scrambled for candy on the ground.
Here is just a snippit of the Butterfly Dance. You can see the elders in the background. Just click on the picture and it will play.

The girls look like butterflies dancing around. Really nice.

There was even two Red Tailed Hawks flying above. The sky was just as blue as it could get. At one point the hawks came back and the guy sitting next to Stephanie kept saying "Nah they are buzzards" So after a while if an airplane flew by, we said "Airplane" :rotfl: or "Hawk" if the birds flew by again.

Now, my question is---are Chuckie's Moccasins on the right feet or not? :lmao:

Chuckie just had to have his picture with a Jackalope and Armadillo.

Here is a picture of the head dancers. The woman is Cherokee and that is her native regalia which she made and said she is still working on it. It was absolutely beautiful.

Can you guess which bumper sticker Stephanie bought?

bumperstickers.jpg

We had the Fry Bread. It was unbelievable. The woman made it with taco fixins. We both decided that it would have tasted just as good with honey and sugar. Stephanie took a picture of that.

There was a raffle and I managed to win a leather bag that I could use as a small purse or attatch to a belt. Really pretty.
They had two story tellers and one guy that played a few flutes. Beautiful and melodious music.

This was the best afternoon I have spent in a long time.

Luvalldisney and I got back this morning from a 3 night Disney cruise on the Wonder. Below are some pics of the Kids (Pal and Minn). To see more pics from the cruise visit my online photo album, link in signature.

Great pictures.

thanks. we had so much fun with the kids. Crew/Cast members were coming over just to see the kids, even the Cap't came in to dinner to see them <G>

Other guests kept asking where they could buy one like ours. Sadly we had to inform them they are originals LOL. Of course we told them about Pal Mickey and how we dress him up, and how we find clothes for Pal and plush Minnie.

It was great and the kids loved the attention :cool1:

Marsha - another great stateroom door!!! Minn and Pal looked adorable together, especially Minn at the beach, and Pal in his Captain uniform.

Ellouise - you look great in the lime green - you should wear it more often.

What was Christian doing on The Wonder? Did he not go with The Magic to the Mediterranean?

What were the best parts of this cruise?

Thanks about the door. We copied your net on the door from the Jan cruise :goodvibes

I was surprised to see Christiaan there too. Get this he remembered my name from the Jan cruise. He was so attentive again. He said he switches back and forth every so often and may be on the Magic in Sept LOL.

Best part ummmmmmmmmm Food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The crew loved the Kids and were sending other crew members to find us or to see us just to see the kids :lmao:

One of the shutters photographers just loved the kids and made us promise to bring them by each night so she could see what they were wearing. she is the one that took the pic of them with the white background back back like they do with families :rotfl2: I thought it was so funny to see the kids on the floor getting their professional pics taken like the other familes were getting done too :rotfl:

The kids had a great time esp showing off in their outfits. Pal looked so cute in each of his original outfits esp the Capt and Pirate.

Glenna.....Pal thanks you for your compliments!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1: He went on the 3 day cruise with 14 outfits and had a really hard time deciding what to wear each day. He knew he wanted to wear his captains outfit and pirate one, but had a really hard time with the others..............I had limited him to 6, but he just could not do that.....he talked me into 10 outfits then he snuck in 4 more!!!!:rotfl2: He did not wear them all, but I guess he wanted the choice.:lmao:
Also, thanks for the compliment on the lime green. Green is my best color, but it is in limited supply, so I do not wear it very often. :woohoo:
Crocs for the kids may be available at target (the pink and blue ones, in the infant section) or walmart (the yellow or green ones) and I have heard kmart (some multicolored ones, which alas my pal does not own)
I always look in any store with infant shoes, you just may find something that works! Sandals, crocs, dress shoes, slippers, you never know what you might find.
Brady found some black tights, and we use those over Pals and Minn's feet so that the yellow shoes do not show, it really lets the crocs and their sandals stand out!!!!
Had an awesome time on the ship, 3 days went fast. (however, so does the 7 day and any weekend spent at Disney....I guess when you are having fun time goes by quickly!!!!)
Glenna....did Brady tell you she actually went snorkling at Serenity Bay? What an awesome time!!!!!!!!!! She did a lot of walking at the beach too....tired but oh so exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since the kids could not get wet, they just sat on the beach cheering.

Brady, your pics and ideas are wonderful. I'm so glad to find you guys here. Disboards is huge and I'm quite new here so it was just lucky for me that I stumbled upon this thread.

MrsPotatoHead, so glad to find you again. Mick just loves his windbreaker - he gets all kinds of compliments.

To introduce myself - I was MickeysGal on another board so some of you I know from there. I have what I consider to be a health obsession with my Pal Mickey. My friend Shirley, who goes with Mick and me to WDW every year thinks it's weird. But, I firmly believe she secretly likes that Mick helps us meet so many fun and interesting folks on our travels.

I'm still struggling with outfits for all the countries in World Showcase. Mexico, China, Italy, USA, France, England and Canada are done. I'm still working on hats for Morocco and Germany. Haven't even attempted the viking for Norway or the kimono for Japan. Any suggestions?

I also have outfits for Soarin', Test Track, Mission Space, Universe of Energy and The Land. Still need to do something for The Seas and Imagination.

Now, I have a question for you all...

I am going to two special meets this Sept/Oct. One is a Dis meet and Mick needs a lime green tshir (like Brady's guy). I also will need a t-shirt for "The Epcot Thing" - an Epcot birthday celebration on 10/1. I found a lime green t-shirt on jiminees website but there is no info about fit or size. Has anyone gotten the shirts from there? How do they fit Mick?

Thanx for your help!

Alisa,

The Jiminees shirts (cap sleeves) fit pretty well - I shorten the length of mine which sometimes means losing a snap on the back if you aren't careful. I actually just used iron on hem tape to shorten them!

I used the DisSigns board here to find some great graphics and made my Pal's lime green shirt a Buzz Lightyear shirt because that our favorite ride at MK.

Do you have pictures of your Epcot outfits? I'd love to see the Test Track and Mission Space ones! I took pics of those CM's when I was there to think about making them, but haven't been able to get back to my machine much expect for one special project for a friend that I'm spending all my sewing time on right now because she has a deadline. (Her Pal comes before mine at this time ;) )

Oh, and most of friends thought I was weird BEFORE we all went to WDW in May. Then they were all curious about the little guy and offered to hold him, wanting to hear what he said, and LOVED his outfits. Yes, it's a healthy obsession for me too!

Glad you found this board and hope to see more of you here!

Alisa,

One of friends on our May trip was sort of the same way about little PM. Thought it was a bit much to carry him around most of the week. Then she saw how I was placing him in some of the pictures. Towards the end of the trip, I saw her pick him up and move him to a bench to take his photo. And then 'borrowed' him again for another picture later. Yes he can grow on people.

Glad to see you on this thread!

DisneyDeeva - when you dress Pal up for EPCOT, get him a passport (see those in brady's pix). Then take him to each Kidkot station at each country's pavilion. That is where the Kid's Passports are stamped and most of the CM's will also sign his passport.

I asked each to pose for a picture with him as they stamped/signed his little passport. Because the CM's are dressed in their country's attire, it makes for great photos. I got the blue passport at a Michael's store - it is made by Jollee - the company that makes those great scrapbooking thingys. It looks so realistic - a smaller version of of our USA passport.

The Chinese CM was named Ming Ming. She really admired little PM and even asked what year he was born in (2004 for my guy). So she stamped his passport with both the China stamp and another that was a monkey - for 2004 which was the year of the monkey. So this is a neat way to get some special photos and mingle with the people of all the countires.

That is sooo cool! I will definitely have to do that. Last fall, I did an AK and MK photo shoot with PM. This year will be Epcot...MGM too, if I can manage it. The passport idea will make for great photos!

Thanx again!

BTW - I just got home from running errands. If anyone strips down Bearistas for the benefit of their PM, my Starbucks has the most recent one on clearance. Preppy Bearista has on plaid shorts and a plaid bucket style hat and a polo type shirt. Of course the flipflops won't fit but everything else looks cute. The clearance price was $6.99.

Am I the only guy that has a Pal Mickey AND dresses him up? I think that I have well over 50 outfits for him and am having someone making designer pants for him. I even had African dashikis (a colorful african garment) made for him (hence why I call him My Soul Pal Mickey and My Soul Pal Mickey 1 - I have 2 of them -the original one and the 50th anniversary one). So if there are any guys out there that also dress their Pal Mickey's please let me know.

Thanks ::MickeyMo

Well, based on a lack of response, JDGOtter, I'd say you are definitely in the minority..

My Mick also has an African dashiki. However, I made it myself so it's far from professional. I can sew a straight seam and follow a simple pattern. But, that's about it. I'm looking for someone who can help me turn some of my design ideas into reality. I would rather pay someone to sew for me than endure the frustration of trying to make something over and over. Am I pathetic or what!?!?

Where do you get the passports!???! I love the new pics, too.

I don't have any time to make new outfits, but I did pick up a few things on our trip. I got Mick a Dodgers tee at BABW, as well as a complete Dodgers baseball uniform. I'm still trying to figure out if I want to alter the uniform to fit him, or leave it as is and put it on a bear. Decisions, decisions.

But my big splurge was to purchase a pair of Vans tennies for him. I just couldn't refuse the impulse. Now I'll have to come up with some outfit to go with it, even though he can wear them with anything.

I'll sign off now before I ramble on too much longer!

Nicky & I have been doing a lot of traveling. I haven't had a chance to check in on the thread. The outfits are sounding really cute. I'd love to see pictures of the some of the custom made ones. I don't know that I'll ever have time to make any but I do dream about it.

My DH has warmed up to Nicky. He doesn't dress him but on our last trip I was going to leave Nicky in the room and DH wouldn't hear of it. He doesn't like to admit it but he enjoys my crazy obsession as much as I do.

Chuckie went with Stephanie and I to the Mega Mouse Meet. Of course there is a naked bear in my house since he decided he needed a Meet shirt.
:lmao:

I had a chance to ride a Segway. Chuckie decided to wait for me. It was a blast.

tinker1bell -

Tell us please what the Mega Mouse meet was. Is this a Disney sponsored event?

Great fun for you on the Segway I bet. They are just so cool. I did the Segway Tour of Epcot's World Showcase in May. Little Pal Mickey went with me. Had to make him a helmet too!
