Paid FP options coming soon to WDW?

My thought is if they move to pay for FP then everyone will have access to do that whether you stay on property or not and I can't help but think that will increase chance for people staying off site to get access to the few really hard to get FPs - and if I don't then I won't pay as I am not paying for a FP for rides that really don't need it

Not unless the ride you want “sells out” by on site people before you are even eligible to purchase (or book whatever freebies) are left.

Those don't sound like good enough perks to keep me on site, quite frankly.

Per Martin, 3 free FP is not necessarily going to be part of the new system.

Further, while it says services can be changed, that vague language can not be used to justify a substantial change in the product offered. And, given the volume of advertising of FP+, Disney is, in essence, admitting that FP+ is a substantial part of the product sold. An example would be buying a timeshare. There's going to be language that the actual unit may not match the model. But, if there's a substantial change (2 bathrooms instead of 3, for instance), the vague language won't cover them.

And, again, you can buy non-refundable tickets without ever seeing any ToS, anyway. Therefore, it's the advertising the controls.

While FP for any given ride is not guaranteed (FP for a given ride could be gone for that day or the ride down for maintenance), not being able to select ANY headliners in ANY park with the 3/day would be a substantial change.

Further, it doesn't matter what the high priced Disney attorneys say. It matters whether a judge believes that the changes to the FP system are substantially different than what is advertised.

I would wait for specific details on this before you can say a lawsuit is to be had. Again personally I don’t see a lawsuit holding up.

Martin very specifically said it won’t be an on site v off site thing (meaning everyone would be able to purchase whatever the new thing is). I just suspect off site is going to have such a late window to be eligible that there won’t be any super headliners left.

I just don't see Disney not doing their due diligence and making sure they are covered here. I am also against the change, I like it how it is and think they should roll it out with packages next year, but I could see them making a change for SWGE. It does suck, but I'd pay.

Obviously we can't have an actual debate on what a judge would decide without the details of the new system.

But, high priced corporate attorneys do lose in court. And, not that infrequently.

we've already moved off site for the most part as the perks aren't enough to justify the cost ... everyone gets to that point and others value other things more

Hmm. Yeah last month I had 2 days in AK - had a prebooked FoP for both days. Rider swap them. Then we also picked up a same day FoP on the first day. So my kids over 2 days rode it 6 times and my husband and I 3 times. I was attempting to maximize the value of the 2000 dollars I paid for tickets and all that. Plus my kids thought it was awesome.

His explanation makes a lot of sense. I don’t like it as a proud member of the Refresh Club but it makes sense in light of the split stay benefit.

I suspect the free FP for FoP, SDD et al will be a lot smaller (so still really hard to get on a short trip). And if one gets canceled day of, it goes into the pay pool.

“Free” FP will still be available as they are now. However they may not be free for the more popular attractions, or the ratio of “free” fast passes for the more popular attractions may be reduced. The ratio may be fluid, or alter over time. You may find you can’t get a “free” fastpass for Mine Train since they’ve “all run out” but you may then magically be able to pay for one.

There may be at least three different packages of paid fast pass available. As I understand it there maybe a limit on re rides (no more fast passing BTM then getting another one in the same day)

This may be implemented on the newest and shiniest attractions first, once said attractions begin to take fastpass. The ratio here will possibly start quite low in favour of free passes and slowly change.

This may happen later this year.

No matter what happens, it will be interesting to see if the much-maligned Disney IT department can implement these changes without major glitches and/or loop-holes. I don't mean to be too critical, as I'm sure it is no easy task. It will just be interesting, at least for me since I won't be using it anytime soon...

1. May only apply (at first at least) to rides that are not yet open (SWGE, Tron, etc.)
2. Number of paid FP will be a low percentage at first (meaning, no substantial change for 2019 park goers)
3. Repeat FP (in a single day) will have an upcharge (I presume only for popular rides, not Philharmagic)

Seriously, people think just because a certain person said it, it must be true. I can tell you that isn't the case.

Additionally, this would spell the end of Disney World in the long term. Seriously, people would be willing to pay this now while the economy is doing well, but our good economy is built on a very shakey foundation right now of YouTube income, subscription economy, rideshares and many other things that can't last. Within the next 10 to 15 years, we will see a downturn in the economy and people will be making tough choices about where to spend any extra money and they will not look favorably on companies that have been doing stuff like this. And I am sure Disney is well aware they are on the brink of pushing things too far, which is another reason I say this is fake news.

I love being able to pull multiple FP for say Barnstormer or speedway in a day using refresh. But I could see if I’m limited to only 1 for free, that I think would do say small world or Ariel instead.

If I can use refresh to get free for any ride that’s great, if multiple is a cost fine I won’t pay it.

However I do this this being an IT nightmare but I could be wrong.
