Paid for Flight to Orlando, Cant Go, Cant get Refund!

Any advice on what to do ?

I booked and fully paid for a Flight to Orlando from Birmingham UK with Thomson for May 4th 2014 ( Cost about £635 ) can't go now and can't get refund? Anyone know the best thing to do with the flight..?

Apparently it cost just £50 to change the name on the flight so can transfer to someone.. anyone here been in the same situation? What did you do? Put it on eBay?

Any advice welcome..

Can you call the Thomson to find out what your options are with them?

My next question is, do you have insurance and a valid reason for having to cancel (I mean valid in terms of insurance requirements)? That may be another avenue if you have taken insurance out and all else fails

The change of name will only be if you got your name wrong as well, I don't think many, if any airlines allow transferring tickets otherwise there would be a flight reselling business boom overnight.

That's a good point. Name change is listed separately to 'transferring a ticket' (the latter usually not being permitted)

Travel insurance, if you have, may well be your best bet assuming you qualify for the required criteria to cancel and claim under this clause

As said usually you can't re-sell a flight so doubt that is an option for you.

Your options will probably be:
1, Claim on insurance
2, Ask about cancelling the ticket and what you will get back in taxes.
3, Pay a fee to change to a different date/route.
