I hear you binny. My family is all spread out too, and we rarely are all together. The worst was the time my sister went to FL to visit my mom. Both of my brother's live down there so it was not surprising that they would all get together. What they failed to mention until about a week before my sister's trip is that they were having a surprise party for my mom's 70th B-day 
They just "figured" I would not be able to come! Of course I would have gone if they had mentioned it sooner!
