Packing Water - Need help today!

I have to start packing, I am leaving in about 5 hours. Has anyone packed a case of water on there checked luggage? If so, any problems? I had to run into K-mart for a couple of last minute things ($.99 poncho's, batteries etc.) I walked past the water and the light bulb went off. It was not on sale but 12 24 ounce sport bottles for $3.99 or $30 at Disney (maybe more it has been a year). So, I got it. I know if I checked the sale papers I could find a better deal but this is still a good one compared to Disney prices.

I haven't done it personally, but a good friend of mine did it last January.

He packed one bag with a case of water. Southwest employees gave him funny looks when he checked it - very heavy. But no problems!

The best part - they had an empty bag to bring home all their WDW purchases in!

I know a lot of people pack water but let me tell you what worked for us:

I took our Brita water bottle with filter and one package of disposable small cups. Each day I would pack the bottle (filled with ice from hotel) and about 6 little cups in the backpack. The parks give you free ice and water so I would fill our bottle and distribute cups of water to the kids. They would drink up and then we could toss the cups. I can't imagine having several bottles of water with us everywhere we went because just carrying the one bottle drove us nuts! Using the filtered bottled made the water taste just fine!

My MIL would use snack credits to purchase water bottles in the park (which was a waste to me) but I preferred to just ask for free ice and fill my own bottles.

Or, you can pack the bottle ssingly, just stuck here and there between shirts, ect- kind of distributes the weight...

We were at the WL 2 weeks ago and bought a gallon of bottled water for $2.50 in the gift shop. (note that the gallon bottle didn't fit in the room fridge) I did use snack credits for water at the parks but then would refill the bottle in the room for the next day.

Even with my using some snack credits for water, at the end of our week we had 8 snack credits left.

I've packed water-just watch the total weight of the bag close. Some airlines are now at 50 lbs max per bag and water weighs about 8 lbs per gallon so it can add up fast.

I have not tried it but my cousins did. The best part about it is you have a bag for MORE souvies.... last time I offered to buy water for my next door neighbor at ASMu since we have a car/drove. I usually ask my next door neighbor but sometimes I truly believe they think I am crazy.... just wanted to help.....

I have 1 large bottle in my carryon, and refill at WDW ...you can get gallons at grocery or on site. I would not waste my time dragging around a heavy load of $5 water...just pay for it when you get there(at the grocery or other shop)

I don't think I would take it with me (although I usually have two bottles in my carry-on for travel use!), but if you're determined, pack it in Ziploc bags--just in case. As others have noted, check the total weight of your bag carefully--most of the domestic airlines have maximum bag weight of 40 to 50 pounds. Check with your carrier to be safe!

I just bought some discontinued shampoo and conditioner on a trip to Las Vegas and packed the bottles in Ziploc bags for safety. I can almost guarantee that if I hadn't, the bottles would have leaked!

I would say take a trip to the grocery store. That way you can save on lugging the heavyness of those water bottles. I'm assuming you have rolling luggage. But even those can be heavy especially if you have to lift it at times. I would buy the water at walmart there. I love that walmart!!! Anything you choose have a magical time!!

I just did this 2 weeks ago. It worked great. I packed it in a softsided cooler inside a rolling duffel. (in case of leaks. There were none) It did not put us over the weight limit. We then folded up the cooler(which we kept full of ice in the hotel room)and put it back in the emplty duffel with all our souvies. We did this because we did not want to take the time to find a grocery store and because I had just bought several cases of water for $2.99/case.

I am back and I took the water. I wrapped it in a garbage bag and put it in my smaller rolling luggage. I used all but one bottle and then had lots of room for my purchases. We had no problems. I did weigh my luggage before I left to make sure that we did not go over the limit. I only had to get my luggage to the airport because we were on Magical Express.
