What is the weather in early December? I'll check the weather before we go, but I'm getting excited now and just wondering...should I pack mostly shorts, capris, or pants/jeans? Lots of layering? Any chance for swimming in the evening, or just during the day, or not at all? Thanks!

We love going in early December. But pack a little of everything - we've seen 40's and windy and we've seen mid-80's 9totally shorts and t-shirts). Layers are your friends! Swimming is hit or miss (obviously) but probably more likely to happen in the daytime as it does tend to cool off at night, even if the days are warm.

We have gone 2 years in a row in early December. We were able to wear shorts and t-shirts during the day, with it becoming chilly in the early am and evening. It was only warm enough to swim during the day, due to temp and breezes. I was pleasantly surprised it was so warm, but it could easily be chilly as well. I think a plan to layer is wise.

Start watching the weather forcast for Orlando before you go and adjust your packing. We go in Nov & Jan and sometimes bring along the long underwear, hat and gloves.

Pack everything from gloves to the bathing suit...we had a nearly 50 degree temp swing from the beginning of the week to the end.

We will be there in December too (12/9-12/16 at POFQ) and we are planning on bringing a little of everything... well at least I and the kids are. DH says hes only taking shorts for himself no matter what. Men are so stubborn! Maybe I can sneak a pair of jeans in there just incase, but hey, we have to pay for all of our luggage, so the less he brings the better!!! ;)

Yep! A bit of everything, including swimsuits!

In 2003 and 2004, most days were pleasantly warm with cooler evenings--and at least one evening that was downright nippy!

In 2007, the weather was gorgeous day and night--tanks and t-shirts, no jackets. Warm enough to swim at night. Until the last three days! Temperature dropped from mid-80s during the day to mid-30s during the day over three days! BRRRR!!

Consider it variable!

Sounds like you were there the same time as me. We literally went from our bathing suits to our jackets and gloves overnight.

We went to WDW mid Dec 2003. We needed winter coats hats & gloves a few nights. A few days we wore shorts and T's and were able to swim. The remainder we layered pants, t's and sweatshirts. So check forecast and bring a little of everything!

I have been in December at least 20 times. We have had years where we wore shorts most of the time, and other times where it was 40's most of the time. Prepare for anything. I like my son's zip off pants that he had. They were perfect.

Generally, I have worn jeans and t shirt most of the days. In the morning it is pretty chilly and layer with a sweatshirt. Then when it warms up, we put the sweatshirts in a locker until evening. I also keep a pair of black shorts or jean shorts for myself if I get too hot. I have usually only worn them for a few hours a day, so I re-wear them on other days. I always pack swimsuits and I know that my itinerary will change if the weather is nice enough to spend time in the waterpark or pool. Some trips we haven't had them out at all, but I can remember back in 2002, it was going to be 80 one day, so we decided to go to Blizzard Beach for the day. In Jan 2005, there was one day that got warm enough to swim for a couple of hours, so we left the park and we took DS to the pool, and then went into the park later on.

If you are planning on staying late for EMH, you may want to bring a hat and gloves for the kids. I have rode TT and BTMRR when it was in the 40's and I was so glad to have them.

Pack everything. We were there in the second week of Dec. last year and the temps the day before we were leaving had lows in the low 40s and highs in the high 60s. I figured jeans and layered shirts, long sleeves in the AM and late PM, but short sleeves in the middle.

Well, being typical of just off the water states, the weather changed. It was lows in the high 60s and highs in the mid 80s. We had to go and hunt down shorts. I could never find any. My boys got basketball pants were the legs zip off which worked for them. DH was smart and packed two pairs of jean shorts. I roasted.
