Hello everyone! I'm new to Dis, and I came across this thread and I'm so amazed!! You are all so talented, have beautiful children and I love how friendly and compassionate everyone is!

My heart breaks for Alicia, how sweet and kind of you all who are contributing to The Big Give!!

Tom- Your daughter is a doll! My oldest has started losing teeth lately too, and she reminded me of her.

Ms. McKenna - I'm so sorry to hear everything you've been through, I hope you have success with your IVF. I'm not sure if you decided on a paint color or not for your sewing room, but I would suggest a shade of purple, it's a very inspiring color. :)

I'm so amazed at many of the outfits posted here! Linnette, you are AMAZING!!!!

I'm so inspired to start sewing now! I am a novice, but have sewn a few things in my life. I hate following patterns and I hate using a sewing machine, so I do everything from my head and with my hands. I want to custom make outfits for both of my daughter's for each day of our upcoming trip. I need to get started right now!! My oldest has been reading some of this thread with me and has put in a few requests! :rotfl:

I can't wait to get started!

Oh and Heather & Teresa, I've been reading your trip reports! I can't believe the experience you had with the photographer! How un-Disney! I think everyone looked beautiful and their outfits were gorgeous!

Gotta hit the hay!

Just for you karebear! see all that buttery sugary goodness soaked into the sides?

I'm hoping photobucket will eventually recognize that I resized that photo :confused3

Hmmm yummy! How about a recipe?? I haven't had poppy seed cake in a long time.

Oh JHAM!!! I do! I DO see all the buttery goodness!! And it's even on a princess plate!

Thanks for sharing! I feel so loved.:cloud9:

I finally finished it. It doesn't have a bow because I couldn't decide on black, red, or yellow so I'm going to leave that part up to the buyer.

Hmmm yummy! How about a recipe?? I haven't had poppy seed cake in a long time.

BUTTER CAKE: (aka poppyseed cake)

1 yellow cake mix with pudding
1 large pkg. instant vanilla pudding
3Tbsp. poppyseeds
1/2c. oil
1c. water
4 eggs

Mix cake mix, instant pudding, and poppy seeds with spoon. Beat in oil and water. Add eggs. Pour into heavily greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

GLAZE:

1/2 lb. butter :scared1:
1c. sugar
1/4c. water

Bring to a full boil, boil for 2-3 minutes stirring constantly. Pour over hot cake still in pan. Let cool in pan 30-45 minutes before removing (you may have to smack it around a little to get it to fall out of the pan).

:cloud9:

You're welcome. Hard to miss anything in a photo that GINORMOUS. I'm not getting along with photobucket AT ALL today! Which sounds like a good excuse for why I haven't updated my TR yet. :rolleyes1

Ok, here is the response from the mom. I thought I would just PM it out, but it may be helpful for everyone.

Hello there, Thank you so much for your message. That is a VERY generous offer to help me with some designs.I have really enjoyed looking at the boards at all of your designs and have been in awe of your beautiful work.I am a crafty person by nature but don't do well in this area! If you would be willing to help with anything I would be very grateful!

My daughter Hannah is the wish child. She is almost 10.She wears about a size 10.Her favorite is Cinderella. She is crazy about any of the princesses though. She is also in Love with Bullseye from Toy story, and of the Jungle book characters, lion king, bambi.Well, I guess there really isn't a disney movie she does not like. She is pretty well obsessed with any and all disney. She is very much a girly girl and loves pink and sparkles.
My son Logan is 5.He wears around a size 5 and tends to be on the tiny side. His favorite is the movie Cars.Lightning McQween is is favorite. He also likes Toy story .He loves all things fish and is looking forward to Sea World. Both kids are nuts about Finding Nemo.
Anything any of you would be willing to help with would be wonderful. Thanks so much, Heather

Their trip will be 7 days long, so I am hoping to be able to come up with 7 outfits for each child.
I would like to contribute to this big give. I know I don't post often but I have been a daily lurker since the thread started. I could make some things for the little brother. I only have boys so I have lots of boy patterns (plus now I could justify buying Carla's bowling shirt pattern). It sounds like the little boy is about Jack's size so it should be easy. If you know his name I could use my embroidery machine to personalize some stuff! Let me know and I'll run to the store tomorrow.

Got you down! Thanks so much!

I am so excited and touched about the Make a wish BIG GIVE!:lovestruc We are heading out on vacation in about a week, so I don't think I'll be able to participate on this one, but I'd really like to be involved, so please continue to keep us all posted, and thank you SO much for doing this!

I have a special place in my heart for MAW, as my DH's older brother was able to go to Disneyland in 1975 through MAW just weeks before he passed away from Leukemia... He was only five.:( It warms my heart that they had that special day and that his parents have those memories and a place to go back to to enjoy them.

My son loves yellow and monkeys! Heck this boy has me looking all over the earth for new yellow Mickey crocs! His are toast but he insists on yellow mickey ones!
I saw Yellow Mickey crocs on disney shopping and they are on sale!! In fact all the foot wear is on sale!
I finally made a 4th of July top for DD10--the nice thing about the criss cross pattern is since it goes by measurements, I didn't have to alter the pattern to make it fit my size 12 girl! :cool1:

That is really cute! I still have my minnie panel just waiting for inspiration to hit! And Butter Cake sounds and looks delicious!!
Very cute! That shirt matched perfectly! What did you buy first, the fabric or the shirt??
The fabric. I was looking through the clearance racks at kohls and there it was!! Just like it was ment to be!! I love when that happens! :cool1:

This is what I have been up to lately. There were about 6 other things that are at my grandparent's house. I took them to Jenna the other night so she could go ahead and enjoy them.

That's it for now. Last week I made her three nightgowns, a brown and pink knit dress, and a cherry outfit. I didn't get any pictures of any of it.
They are ALL great- But my favs are the funky one and the four corners dress. They are so bright and colorful!!
This may be a little bit tacky, and if I offend anyone I truly am sorry. But what make someone elgible to be a receiver in a big give project? :confused3
As most of you know my situation, I feel that my oldest 8 year old daughter may be considered special enough. Just a thought, Im not holding out my hand and begging or anything, but know what we go thru on a daily.

She has been diagnosed; ADHD, has high anxiety, ODD, bi-polar, watched for Aspbergers, she is learning disabled, she has propreoceptive and vistubular delays and sensory issues. She also has mild schitzofrenia (spelling ?). All 4 of my daughters are adopted. We got her at 11 months and she was in a bottle, not walking, not talking, and very sick. She had lived in 13 different places (including outside in November in Michigan, shelters, basements, cars, and apartments), she was in her car seat and thrown across a room, witnessed domestic violence, saw her birth parents hem hem "have relations", and been left alone for days at churches and peoples houses.
 To you!! I would love to help you out! Do you have a trip in the works currently? I love spreading a little pixie dust to brighten someone's day! :goodvibes And making their trips even more magical!! Let us know how we can help!!
I finally finished it. It doesn't have a bow because I couldn't decide on black, red, or yellow so I'm going to leave that part up to the buyer.

OMG that is so fluffy and pretty! I love it!!

Candice I'm missing you but your dd is looking so cute! I love her new outfits!!

For the BIG GIVE for Foster children. Why not just make them clothes. What I'm trying to say is that these children have been through alot in their short lives and I'm sure any sort of kindness would be appreciated. I'm sure that any size clothes would be appreciated by these children. I think just receiving a random gift from someone might help to restore their faith in adults. Just a thought.
That is what I had planned on doing too. These children don't have much, and have been through some horrible times, I want them to know that I think they are special and deserve a cute outfit! :goodvibes

1.)Yeah, most foster kids probably don't get to go to Disney. That's why they speak to my heart so much. They really need a little magic in their lives. Many of them feel forgotten and unwanted. I just wanted to be able to find out what their interests are and try to make them an outfit in that theme or something.

2.)I like the idea of making, at most, 1 outfit per day. We'll need to ask the parents if they want that many outfits, though. This way we'll be able to do it for more than 1 child.

3.)I'm with you on that. That's how I was thinking. I just wanted to make them some special clothes to wear, wherever they may be.

1.)That was exactly my thought too.
2.)I agree with that too.
3.)And, of course I agree with that, but I don't like the Haloween costume idea!
Leighanna is six, and her teeth are just now starting to come out. The other front tooth is a little loose, but I am not going to pull it out.
We went to Cedar Point last week.
Here is a photo with Snoopy in the top I made her for Valentine's Day.

CEDAR POINT!!!! I didn't realize you lived in Ohio!!! Cool beans! Lydia has been bugging us to take her to Cedar Point this year! It's been awhile, and I miss it!

PHOTOBUCKET REQUEST

Hey guy and gals! I was just looking for some design ideas in the photobucket account. But, a lot of the outfits that have been uploaded there aren't tagged, so it's hard to find them.

If you've uploaded pictures to the photobucket account, could you tag your pictures so they go into the different categories (character, pattern, design, etc...)?

Thanks!!!

yes, yes, PLEASE do this!!!! Or else, I might just drive myself crazy trying to do it myself!

Oh and Heather & Teresa, I've been reading your trip reports! I can't believe the experience you had with the photographer! How un-Disney! I think everyone looked beautiful and their outfits were gorgeous!

Gotta hit the hay!
Thanks! We appreciate our readers!!! :thumbsup2

I'm first going to say this really quiet, for Elisa:
I updated my trip report

Then, I'm going to say it all loud and obnoxious!! :thumbsup2 I Updated my Trip Report.

It's time for WICKEDNESS!!!!!!

Ok, here is the response from the mom. I thought I would just PM it out, but it may be helpful for everyone.

Oh, very cool!

Like I said before, I am going to make some outfits for the little girl that Callie had with her, Princess Halie, so I won't be able to participate in this round.

Okay, go out of town for 2 days and I think I was 30+ pages behind. Everything is amazing! I cannot believe the level of sewers we have here!

I love the idea of giving to families who need a little extra in their lives! I wanted to contribute this time to the big give, but so many people had already signed up that I didn't since I didn't think little Alicia wanted to change her clothes every 2 hours! :rotfl2:

Shannon, please sign me up! I would love to contribute!!

Sue

This is so pretty. I love pettis. Wish I had time and patience to try one. Once day! After all disney outfits are done, the painting in the house is done, the garden is tended too and ... oh yeah...the kids!

Hey all, sorry for the fly by, but Heather yelled at me for not posting that I updated my TR, so, I updated my TR yesterday.

things here have been crazy, tryign to dealw ith both parents not having a job. Still trying to figure things out. I am still half done with my big give stuff....I haven't sewed in weeks, so I have been ashamed to even stop by here.

As soon as I get things done, and my life back in order, I'll be back....promise. thank goodness for the new photobucket account, since I haven't read ANYTHING on this whole new thread!

Thank you for posting. I was going to post today asking about you. I remembered that your husband worked for Bear Stearn's, right? I hope things start looking up for your family soon.

Has anyone heard from Princess Kell? I wondered about her as well.

Yes!!! I'm off to read it now!

I got fabric for the mke a wish give last night!!! Got the exact fabrics i wanted for my outfit plus ribbon for bows!! Yea!!!

On that one I did the strips and then I added the lining all in one piece. I will never do that again. I ended up wasting a lot of fabric. If I end up doing it again I plan on doing the lining the same way as the top part. Make sense?

So, you think it would be easier to line each strip, then sew the (already lined) strips together? Sorrry, it take a lot for me to understand. LOL
