I wanted to post a couple of pictures of this past week. My son-in-law got back from being deployed for the last 4 months! We were there when the ship came in and went to Disneyland the next day! Where else would we go!!

Yay! Glad SIL is home! Your DGD is just adorable...and her outfit is to die for! SOOO cute!

Tshirt dress is so simple - I just mark a straight line with my sewing pencil across the tshirt where I want the dress to start. Then I sew up the materian into a tube, and then hem and gather it (I used the increase the tension knob version for this and it worked great! Then I just stitch on the material and then top stitch! Soooo easy!!

Awesome! Thanks! I can't wait to try!:woohoo:
OH! Do you use a different needle when you sew on the t-shirt? The pattern I bought says to use a "ball point" needle for knits????? Did you use that or just your regular sewing machine needle? Just wondering if I need to go out and buy it or just wing it with what I already have! Thanks!

CarlaC let me be a tester for her new pattern!! I was thrilled to be able to have a "sneak peek"!! She said it should be available for sale within the next week or so. Here's what I made for Sawyer. I'll try and get pictures of him modeling it within the next few days. I'm also making a simply sweet halter dress for Tessa out of the Go Diego Go fabric.

I didn't post mine cause I didn't think that I could. So since you posted yours I'm gonna post mine. I got to be a tester too!!!

This one is for Jenna's little friend Meranda and then later today I'm gonna start one for Meranda's sister Amber. Mine is just pinned for now, but I plan on adding snaps, because I hate buttons.

SOOOO cute, girls! Okay, be honest, how hard were they? I would LOVE to make some shirts for my DS's, but they seriously freak me out!

I didn't think it was bad at all. It does have quite a few steps though, but they weren't hard steps.

Too cute!!! I asked Carla and she said it was okay to post the pictures.

It wasn't hard at all!! It was more time-consuming than her other patterns because you have to do more cutting (you cut, you sew, then you cut again). But, it was easy to put together. Her instructions are so great. I like it a lot better than the commercial pattern I was using for Sawyer's shirts. It looks more "finished".

Welcome home and thank you to your SIL!!

Love that minnie outfit!! What pattern did you use for that? did you do that applique??? its GREAT!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks!! I did do the applique, I have an embroidery machine and thanks for some of the tips on where to get applique designs, I was able to do this! I LOVE doing the applique now that I learned how to do it! I used the round neck dress pattern for the top and CarlaC's pants. :lovestruc I love CarlaC's patterns!!!

Sue

This is Great!!! I LOVE:lovestruc to sew for my 3 girls and nieces!!!!!! Are we supposed to showcase only disney creations or can we show anything we create?
Welcome~ :dance3: Oh yes we show all and tell all! Can't wait to see your creations! ::yes::

Everything is so cute as usual! I have tried to multiquote, but I seem to mess it up each time??

I love the pics of your lovely family! My DH was in the Navy and we recently watched an entire show about being deployed on the Nimitz . Amazing! What a great idea to go to Disneyland. A perfect way to rebond! I really love the Minnie outfit. Did you make it?

Henry worked from 9:00pm last night until 4:30am this morning. We had a discussion about how that's NEVER going to happen again when he got home. I can't sleep without him here and I layed in bed wide awake until he got home! Then, I had to wake up with the kids when they got up at 6:30, while Henry got to snooze until noon. He can completely set his own hours, so we've agreed that the latest he'll be gone is 1:00am now.
Yikes you must be soooo tired. Can you take a nap today or tomorrow?? Glad you won't be up worrying again. I can just imagine what you were thinking.

I love the two tester outfits! I was always wondered how they did that. I love the Diego fabric!

I am currently making a bunch of outfits for Sesame Place. My friend and I are going with the little kids and we all have to match right??? :confused3 :rotfl: It involves appliquing which I am not the best at but I am hoping it will come out ok. Alright I am off to sew and cook and clean and taxi and be mommy and wifey and entertain company. Wow, a woman's work is never done! ::yes::

You lucky ducky's!!! You did a great job on the shirts and you are so lucky to have been the "tester's"!!! I cannot wait for her pattern to be out!!!

Sue

See, I thought I had both shirts as the quote??? I think you both did a wonderful job on the shirts!

I found Daisy Kingdom fabric at Walmart today....just a FYI...it was the border print with the beach scene...I bought it, of course...LOL

We watched the show on the Nimitz too! My sister was stationed on the Nimitz when it was filmed so we watched to see her! And she was on a couple of times, always saluting! We always have AP's to Disneyland so it seemed like the place to go! That was where we all went when he came home from boot camp and his last deployment! I did make Kadie's outfit! I love to sew for her!

Sue

I'm in Duluth (convention at the Gwinnett Center)
We were in Alpharetta yesterday (went to North Point Mall and the American Girl store)
I have a GPS, a credit card, and a will to buy fabric!
THere is a big place in Atlanta but it has Decorator Fabrics. I think it is called Forsyth Fabrics.
It also has a lot of really cool trims. It is a great place to buy stuff for drapes or cute bags.
Okay - here is my best shot at the "bloomers":rotfl:

Thanks for helping me with the measurements!!!

do you think they will work?

Anyone know if any of the doll stuff at AC moore will work for my American Girl doll look a like? I'd like to find a tshirt for her..

Thanks
I love the dress and bloomers. Very Cute.

:sad1: For the baby bunny. Your new pet looks so cute!! Looks like dd  it! We have about about a million rabbits around here! I saw 8 in my yard at one time a few weeks ago!

OOOOHHHH!!! I LOVE bunnies!!! I had a mini lop named Jed that Henry bought me when we were teenagers. He was the sweetest little thing ever! I had him litter box trained and he'd just hop around the house.
I just realized I didn't post my message with your picture. I had an old friend that always litter box trained her rabbits. She had been doing that since she was was a little girl. She also let them run around the house like she would a cat.

How do you Litter box train them? Do you use cat litter? My Sister had a bunny for a while, he came already trained.
I cut Abby's hair at the end of May. I was trimming her bangs and she told me she wanted it cut short. I think she got tired of all the tangles. She never liked me brushing it or putting it up.

:cool1: :cool1: LUCKY!:cool1: :cool1:

I didn't really tell the whole story on that outfit I want to make.....I want to make my DD(5) a storybook skirt with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse book for Chef Mickey's. Actually my little tomboy asked me to make her a Car's skirt but she already has a cute Cars outfit so I asked if I could make her a Mickey one and she said OK. I was thinking I would use those 4 fabrics on her skirt between the pages and then make a patchwork ruffle on the bottom. I am going to use a page for the front and back bodice for a simply sweet top to go with the skirt. Not sure yet if I can do a ruffle or not on that-haven't compared the length of the panels to my DD's height yet.

I think my DD(9) is a bit too old for a storybook skirt so I thought I'd make her the block or striped A-line top with patcwork ruffle on the bottom and make some sort of shorts/capris to go with it.

Now I've got to make DS(7) something too. I was thinking maybe a red & black camp shirt with a store bought Mickey applique on the back. The kids are watching a Disney planning video from 1995 (and crying about all the stuff they never saw.....) and there was a parade at MK called Mickey Mania with walking Mickey "parts". Maybe I should applique Mickey parts on his shirt. I haven't appliqued anything in over 15 years. Here's probably the last thing I did:
DSC01858c.jpg

Acutally I found this....I made these in 2004. I made the needlepoint one for my DH in 1983. I had grand plans to make some for the kids but ended up making the felt ones as a "temporary" thing. I don't see me finishing the needlepoint ones ....ever....I think I got some of the toe done for Lizzy-she changed the spelling of her name in Kindergarten.
DSC01850c.jpg
All of your ideas sound great. It looks like you did a great job on the Christmas appliques. I bet you could applique some Mickey "parts"
It was so windy here yesterday look what happened! I was actually outside when the limb started snapping and saw it fall good thing we were all the way across the yard!!
DSCF1213.jpg

This is the fabric for my next project- It's "david" inspired. I'm going to make a shirt and skirt.

Unfortunately they will not be wearing them tomorrow, we got a call today that dh's stepsisters grandpa is dying of cancer, and it would be soon so they postponed the grad party. Keep their family in your prayers please.

Now to go back and catch up :surfweb:

ETA: Sorry about the humungo picture I can't seem to get it smaller!! hmmmmm Well I guess I will thumbnail it.
Those birds are adorable. I am sorry about DH's stepsister's Grandpa. I will keep him and his family in my prayers.
Those outfits turned out really cute!

You are gonna love the imac!!! I love mine..I have had mine for almost a year, and I have never thought that I would become a mac person! Did they give you the back to school promo - a free ipod nano or ipod touch? It is supposedly a back to school special promo but one of my friend who is not a student or teacher/professor went and bought the imac and they gave her the promo anyways.
We love the macs too I had to hook up a pc to my monitor too so I can use my Singer Futura. The Futura software doesn't work with the mac. I just push a button on my keyboard and switch over to the PC when I need to.

This was the straw that broke the camel's back! After spending several pull-your-hair-out frustrating hours more than I should have sewing 28 scrunchies (for their wrists--not their hair) for my class for next year, I bought a new machine today!

I have struggled with and pampered my old machine for more years than I care to admit---so, with a limp pocket-book and a happy heart---I'm off to read the instruction manual of my new Brother 5000. (Not too fancy, but will do what I need.)

I know I'm going to be kicking myself for not doing this much sooner!
Congratulations on the new machine! I like the scrunchies you made. Great idea!

What a sweet family you have! I love your DGD's outfits. They are adorable.

Awesome! Thanks! I can't wait to try!:woohoo:

I just use what i have - what is a ball point needle????

Hey - does everyone use coordinated top/bobbin thread?????

I got the fabric from Joann's = I think its the tutti frutti searsucker fabric - I got this as a reminant for like .50!!! And the shirt was from wally world - is that where you got yours?

Sure is - those Garanimals were adorable this year. The little skorts they sold with the tops fit my DD like a dream - I wish I'd bought more, and bought in larger sizes! Thanks for the tip about the fabric. :goodvibes:

Tshirt dress is so simple - I just mark a straight line with my sewing pencil across the tshirt where I want the dress to start. I really want to make some of these - honestly, that's what I had in mind when I started thinking about learning to sew - but for some reason I haven't tried yet.

Congrats on the new machine! That looks like such a great idea!

I'm subbing. I haven't had time to go back and read what I missed this week. I was never able to keep up while we were at WDW.

We got home around 2 this morning. I'm tired and trying to convince Delaney to take a nap with me and failing miserably.

We had a great time, I'm still working the pictures thing, we had an issue with our photopass but it was all worked out, I just have to order it this week now from home.

Delaney had a blast for her birthday. She got tons of attention starting at check in at the hotel where they stopped the entire lobby and sang happy birthday, at that point Delaney wanted to give her birthday button back but by the time we left she had decided she liked it.

I have to get back to work, I found that we had been invaded by ants when I woke up this morning so I've got TONS of work to do around here.
Can't wait to see pictures!

That looks awesome! I'm working on one too but I'm not doing any strips. My DS picked out the light blue Cars fabric for it (not what I would have picked. I've just got the lining attached to the front & back. I did the plackets but I think I need to cut one out again because I don't like the placement (well lack of placement) of the Cars on the buttonhole side. I also didn't buy buttons yet so I should do that before I make the buttonholes.

I didn't post mine cause I didn't think that I could. So since you posted yours I'm gonna post mine. I got to be a tester too!!!

Both shirts are great. I used to hate making my son shirts--the directions were awful! I only made a few. Of course, he is 42 now--so that was a few years ago!!!

Just wanted to say hi and show ya'll I have not dropped off the face of the earth again. It is 100 degreestoday and Our Ac broke! So, we tried to keep cool all day and someone came and worked on it all day and we think it is working, but it takes a while to cool your house down when it is 100 degrees outside!

I love everyone's creations! The minnie outfit is so cute, and those new shirts are great! They will be all the buzz when the patterns go for sale! I know I saw more great things, but it is too hot upstairs in the puter room so I am heading downstairs!

see everyone again soon!

Here's the shirt I'm working on. If I put the buttonholes one the right side for a boys shirt it will look like this and I don't like it:
DSC04362.jpg

If I put them on the left side it would look like this:
DSC04361.jpg

I'm thinking of using the lining fabric instead. I knew when DS picked out this fabric that it would be tricky.....
DSC04363.jpg

I've got lots of both fabrics. What would you do?
Option 1: Don't worry about it make it as is with buttons holes on right (don't say that cause I won't do it :rotfl: ).

Option 2: Cut out a new right side placket.

Option 3: Put button holes on the left.

Option 4: Use lining for placket.

I'm not so worried about the collar as it is too small to really matter (I think???) but I do have enough lining fabric to do the collar with it too.

I am very happy with the way I cut out the sleeves so I"m not worried about those.
