packages vs hotel rates

when disney puts their room rates on sale do the prices of the packages reduce with the reduced hotel rate as part of the package. not sure whether it is better to do a package or buy separately as we want one night post cruise with tickets and dining

If you want a DDP you will need to book a package.
And generally the rates in a package don't fluctuate. If a room rates lower (or increases) the price you have does not automatically lower (or increase). The lower rates you are probably referring to are various promotions. And you would need to (re)book under that promotion.
