P.O.T.C. On Stranger Rides! The Missing Chapter,,Final Thoughts,, Preview Thoughts.

 That makes me laugh. "Please do a TR and here's hoping some major calamity will strike you at the same time!"

BTW you did notice the ticker right? It's gonna be a while before a TR could even be possible. Maybe I should start a PTR? I could maybe win a prize for the absolute longest most useless PTR ever or something...

Well, no, I didn't notice the ticker. I'm sorry for it being so long between trips for you. It's our loss, not to have your take on your trip. I thought I had a long wait with 18 months between trips.

And yes, I can recall taking a flight on the old PSA airline (Pacific Southwest? or something like that, flew lots of intra-California routes) where the crew played that tune. Had it timed perfectly, so the "Hi ho Silver" happened exactly when we left the ground. The passengers applauded.

-Bob

I like the Hi Ho Silver too, here's an obscure bit of trivia question; a guy named Bill Denbrough also used to say it, anybody remem ber from where? And from what town?

Oooh, dem's fightin' words! Callin' me a coward? If even one person posts, I'd consider it. But who in their right mind would do that??? (Smidgy, you don't count 'cause for all I know Nebo would just post under your name)

Nah, the pests around here are mosquitoes. Where I used to live the pests were white, and weighed 1000 pounds or so. That's North.

Ok, so where up north did you live?

National Lampoon Christmas Vacation. Catherine is Eddie's wife. He's talking about how he used to have a metal plate in his head but now it's plastic. He goes on to say that he doesn't know if he should go down the hill on the saucer 'cause the plate is right under his hair part and if he dents it his hair "just ain't gonna look right."

Boy, I don't remember that part, maybe that gets cut out on the broadcast channels?

Copied this off another site.

Kim Kardashian was born Kimberly Noel Kardashian in the exclusive San Fernando Valley community of Calabasas, CA on October 21, 1980. Her father was attorney Robert Kardashian, who gained infamy as the man who sheltered O.J. Simpson after the double murders of Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman; and later as a member of his colossal legal team.

Hmm, that's starting to sound familiar now, I think I was thinking of a guy on the other legal team, Robert Shapiro.

I'm gonna start a new tradition, the one where Daddy stamps his feet and holds his breath until he gets his way, tradition.

And don't get me started on what happened with Le Cellier!!

Oh, tell us, tell us, I wanna know.
It can be a practice trip report chapter!!! Right gang?

Evander Kane.

Evander Kane? You serious? Sounds like a Dickensian character,,,,,,and no BOB, this is not another straight line!

Koo roo koo koo, koo roo koo koo!

:confused3

He' dead Jim... um, I mean, Nebo.

I once went through all my Star Trek episodes, I have the set, and I'm pretty sure that THAT famous line was actually never said, and if it was it was only said once, but everybody in the world can hear him saying that in their head, including me.

Do it. It's actually pretty funny.

I just tried a couple times, keep getting web site not found, but apparently it worked last night for Smidgy...OOOOOOOOOHHHH,, SHE BROKE IT, I'm telling.

Good luck with that! There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it that I've heard of. The only thing I know is that if you wait, you'll never get as good a price as the one if you'd booked early. And if you book early, the price will be much lower from that point up to the time you actually board the aircraft.

Thanks. Big help.

There really isnt a sure fire way to say when to buy them. But I will say the best site I have used by far is kayak.com. It searches all the other websites (discount sites and the airlines themselves) and then you click to be taken to whichever one you like best to book it there. Its like a massive search engine and I have never successfully found a better deal searching another way. Sometimes it will come up as the airline itself being cheapest, sometimes not. It is a huge timesaver because it searches them all simultaneously :wizard:

Thanks Dance, Ill give it a try.

But ossifer, nebo made me do it! :rotfl2:

I mean, come on! Have you ever seen him serve up such a big fat straight line? Speak in tongues indeed.

Oh that's just great. You knew Ponzi would crack and have to say something, and now after walking right up to the edge of the cliff and leaning over, you toss me over the side as well!

And yes, I can recall taking a flight on the old PSA airline (Pacific Southwest? or something like that, flew lots of intra-California routes) where the crew played that tune. Had it timed perfectly, so the "Hi ho Silver" happened exactly when we left the ground. The passengers applauded.

We had a Southwest Air flight attendant last year who was practically doing stand-up comedy to keep us all under control - our flight was delayed about a half-hour, waiting for a connecting flight to arrive and give us some more passengers. Since we were leaving Orlando, she had us all doing Disney stuff - singing Small World, Zippedy-Doo-Dah etc. When we finally started to taxi for takeoff, she made us all put our hands up in the air and yell "Wooooo!" like we were on a roller coaster.

Really de-lurking to let Nebo know that I made a point of looking out for those yellow jackets at POFQ on our trip in November. They are SOOO-OOO annoying! I really hope they get rid of this activity. Ours had three sorry-looking kids (who learned an important lesson that day: don't raise your hands when someone says, "Do you want to play a really fun game?) who were writing down answers to Disney trivia questions. All the other kids were playing in the pool. So why the bullhorn? Why not talk directly to the three suckers - I mean kids - who were roped into playing the game?

I know when my DD was little, the resort pool was for getting away from all the nonstop Disney stimulation. A nice swim, nap, soak in the sun and we were all recharged for more park time. Get rid of the yellow jackets!!!!!

DH is not a reader.

I am too a reader. I'm reading this right now aren't I. Oh you mean books. Never mind.

I have to admit that I think since we have been together he's read more he had since probably high school ;) however, that is only because I introduced him to the Magical World of Harry Potter...

Believe it or not, I did read some books after high school. College requires you to read. They didn't teach me that in high school though so I didn't finish college. Too much reading. :headache: I did love Harry Potter. Loved me some Dan Brown books too. Also read the Lord of the Rings. After the movies, had to get the books. But for the most part, no I will not read a book. LOL. And yes, the daily racing form does count. How else am I going to win.:confused3

I tried to get him to read the Twilight series and he gave up after the 3rd book and refuses to read the 4th and continues to ask me to tell him what happened. I happily refuse to tell him, although i'm sure he's already found out through Wikipedia. :rotfl:

::yes::

Even better than cliff notes. :thumbsup2

I think I finally came to accept that Mr. T is not a reader. I bury myself in my books and leave him to play Angry Birds. :lmao:

I think she's just jealous that I can get 3 stars in all levels. :rolleyes1:duck:

You know, upon reflection, you and Ponzi are right. (Oh no, did I just say that? Sorry, Smidgy).

Anyway, I stepped back from the ledge. Post deleted. Ponzi, if you can delete your quote of my post, we can all have a more relaxing Christmas. Thanks.

-Bob
(Though I think the actual answer to Nebo's question about quizzes and tests was closer to the edge than mine).

Sorry it took me a while to post. I got to the intermission part of the last chapter, went and got me a beer (since you were talking about having one) and forgot to come back. Now I know where I can go get a beer at AK for next December's trip. Thanks:thumbsup2

Ok, so where up north did you live?

Spent 3 1/2 loooong years in Lynn Lake, Manitoba. Town has two claims to fame. Home of Lynn Johnston (For Better of Worse newspaper comic) and Tom Cochran (Don't know if you remember Life is a Highway or Lunatic Fringe, he fronted Red Rider if that helps). Lynn Lake was a mining town which predominantly mined nickel and gold. We got there after the mine had closed down and it was basically a ghost town. While we do have some fond memories (First Christmas together in our first home, cross country skiing) we also had a saying; "Lynn Lake isn't Hell... but you can see it from there."

Then spent 4 1/2 years in Churchill, Manitoba. Fascinating place, loved it there. Only downside is the long (and cold winters). Winter pretty much starts early to mid September and lasts until mid to late June. It's a seaport and is right on the shores of Hudson Bay where the Churchill river ends. Across the river is Fort Prince of Wales, built in the early to mid 1700s. When spring finally arrives the tundra explodes in colour as the flowers only have a short season to bloom. Bird watchers from all over the world descend on the town in hopes of seeing a Ross' Gull (the discovery of which had made the New York Times and Time Magazine) Summer brings hot temperatures (up around 88F or 89F) and more tourists to see the beluga whales who come in the hundreds to the shallow waters of the Churchill river. It's very typical to see dozens from the shore at any given time from July to August. Fall brings the greatest number of tourists. Hotels and tour operators are booked at least a year in advance for a chance (more like certainty) of seeing the world's largest land carnivore, the polar bear. Weighing in at up to 1,500 lbs, getting up close to one of these animals is an experience that cannot be described. How close? Petting distance. Although if you did try and pet one it would make the bear happy and you dinner.

National Lampoon Christmas Vacation. Catherine is Eddie's wife. He's talking about how he used to have a metal plate in his head but now it's plastic. No, it's on the broadcasts too. Don't remember the scene where Clark goes down the hill on the saucer? Just before that.

And don't get me started on what happened with Le Cellier!!

Oh, tell us, tell us, I wanna know.

Ran out of time! I'll post about it later.

I just tried a couple times, keep getting web site not found, but apparently it worked last night for Smidgy...OOOOOOOOOHHHH,, SHE BROKE IT, I'm telling.

Don't click the speaker symbol. Just above it is a hyperlink.

We three kings, are banned from the Dis;

That's good!

Oh, come on Ponzi, please do a trippie. You get hurt or sick just like Nebo and he's pretty funny...

:lmao:That's funny, it's not just me, now she wants Ponzi to hurt himself. See how it works, Ponzi?

We had a Southwest Air flight attendant last year who was practically doing stand-up comedy to keep us all under control - our flight was delayed about a half-hour, waiting for a connecting flight to arrive and give us some more passengers. Since we were leaving Orlando, she had us all doing Disney stuff - singing Small World, Zippedy-Doo-Dah etc. When we finally started to taxi for takeoff, she made us all put our hands up in the air and yell "Wooooo!" like we were on a roller coaster.

If I'm leaving MCO after a Disney trip and the attendant did that I think I'd have to kill her.

I told you they were annoying. And you'dre trapped at FQ, there's no other quiet pool to slink off to.

Also read the Lord of the Rings. After the movies, had to get the books.

Hey. LOTR is no easy read
. And yes, the daily racing form does count. How else am I going to win.:confused3

Remember the first couple times you went, a Green Sheet was good enough?
Then you started buying a Program,
next thing you know you're going out late the night before to an all night news stand looking for the next days Daily Racing Form.

I think she's just jealous that I can get 3 stars in all levels. :rolleyes1:duck:

One of these days if i ever finish doing these reports I'll have to look for Angry Birds, I feel left out.

You know, upon reflection, you and Ponzi are right. (Oh no, did I just say that? Sorry, Smidgy).

Anyway, I stepped back from the ledge. Post deleted. Ponzi, if you can delete your quote of my post, we can all have a more relaxing Christmas. Thanks.

that's interesting. I could never live up there though, as far as I'm concerned Chicago is way too far north for me, someday, I hope to be in Florida. Hey, you're about as far south as you can go and still be Canadian, hmm, Maybe Vancouver is further south.

No, it's on the broadcasts too. Don't remember the scene where Clark goes down the hill on the saucer? Just before that.

That I remember, just not the Eddie bit.

!

Ok, now that all the fireworks have died down, back to the mundane job of working on the next chapter, but who knows, maybe I can find a way to stir the pot again.

Hi all.. hope everyone is ready for the holidays.. I was just uploading some pictures back at the resort tonight to get ready for the next couple of days and stumbled across this picture that i took at that other place in Orlando. (please don't flame me everyone.. there is a reason for this, trust me).. anyway.. i saw this sign and just had to take a picture and post it.. Pkondz, i leave to your imagination what you can do with this..

P1000807-upload.jpg

Anyway as soon as i saw it on the computer i had to put it up..

Having a great time down here in the World.. Crowds are building by the day now.. each day bigger than the next, the decorations are amazing (as always) and Ozzy's lights are a huge hit.. Clark Griswold would be proud!! :lmao:

Steve and Diane.. have a great Christmas.. hope to contribute a little more after the holidays! I read the last chapter.. I haven't encountered the butt manuever YET, but i wouldn't be surprised it will come soon.. Headed to EPCOT tomorrow to meet with your knife wielding friend at Teppan Edo.. I'll send your best regards!

Take care all!

I like the Hi Ho Silver too, here's an obscure bit of trivia question; a guy named Bill Denbrough also used to say it, anybody remem ber from where? And from what town?

ooh ohh! I know! but I won't "spill" give others a chance..

however, a hint: It wasn't a horse, it was a b-b-bicycle.

fsmith.. I love the cartoon area at uni.!! glad you are enjoying the osbourne lights.. love em!!!

so, is Nebo kicking me out of bed cause I caught him smoking??:rotfl:

Correct us if we're wrong, but Lady H and I own this movie. I believe the answer you are looking for is from the movie "IT" by Stephen King. Movie took place in Darry, Derry, Dary (spelling) Maine. I knew where the line came from, she remembered what town the movie took place in.

This is crazy, but DH and I are just about to start watching "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". I love the movie, it's an annual tradition for us.

Nebo, so DH did use your map tactic to get a great room at the BC, but we failed miserably in the second part of the mission....we failed to take any pictures of the view! :sad2:

We were in room 2512. The best room for our desired purpose would have been on the first floor, but we were just one floor up from the highly sought "hidden gate" that was super close to the IG entrance at Epcot. The first floor equivalent was taken, but the stair well as easy for us so no problems. The view was nothing to write home about, shrubbery and trees, but the access for my little park junkie children was excellent. The BC was pretty crowded with everyone stopping by to see the carousel, but I liked the location to Epcot and HS, plus the pool seemed to be well liked by the kids.

WL was really great too. We were in room 6143 there, which was decent, but not great. The WL was at 99% occupancy, so the learned map skill didn't help quite as much. The kids really loved it here, in fact I'm pretty sure it is DS's favorite on site resort now. He loved watching the geyser erupt and he thought the building looked like giant lincoln logs. The lobby was breathtaking with the huge tree and beautiful decorations.

I just loved having the opportunity to be at Disney for a part of the Christmas season. To make that happen though, DH and I had to move our adult only trip for the 2nd time. We tentatively have moved it to the last week of April. Have any of you been at that time? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Oh yeah, one other thing that happened on the trip, and then I promise to hush about it. We saw the Candlelight Processional with Neil Patrick Harris, but that wasn't the first time we saw him that day. I had run ahead of my crew into the Land to grab fast passes for Soarin, when I heard this voice. DH had caught up with me and when I heard it, I said "That's Doogie Howser!!" Sure enough it was Neil Patrick Harris with a CM and friends headed through the back entrance to Soarin. I just thought it was cool to spot him as he was wearing sunglasses and a hat. It was the voice though. Had he not spoken I never would have spotted him! ;)

Nebo, don't go outside when it's lightning. Your use of the angel smilie might be going a tad too far. God can only take so much exaggeration. Let's not tempt him, okay? ;)

Ok, I gotta cut this chapter, and cut it now, I'm using up too much material in ONE SHOT! Plus, Marita will get mad at me for ending the report pre-maturely, instead of
immaturely like I always do.

You got that right, buddy, gotta make this last till the next trip.

Boy, it took me forever to catch up after my little absence.

Regarding flights, I like Kayak too, but also love Hipmunk.com, it shows you comparative times along with stops in a bar chart. GREAT!!

Also, remember you can ship stuff too to your hotel or have things delivered via Garden Grocer or one of those services.

I vote for a Ponzi TR as well, I'll read for sure.

I'm finally caught back up!! Freaking work and the holiday's have some nerve taking me away from the DIS!

Steve, you have sold me a bit on the Animal Kingdom. In all my trips, family and work, I have only been to that park twice. For whatever reason I just haven't had any interest in it. I'm a sentimental kind of guy so I love going back to the places we have been to over the last 20+ years and AK wasn't one of those places.

That being said your description of the different areas of the park that I'm unaware of have made me want to give it another shot. I'm more than happy to listen to any particular advice you may have on what are must/must not attractions/shows/rides while there.

My advice on airfare is to monitor Jet Blue each day or week and as soon as you can get it for $200 or less to grab it. Last year I played the back and forth game a bit and when Delta dropped down I booked it, against my better judgement because we are huge Jet Blue fans. Delta was $500 less than Jet Blue when we booked it. So what happened next? Jet Blue, 3 or 4 weeks later lowered their fares and we would of saved $200 off of what we paid on Delta. At that point I decided that no matter what, we are flying Jet Blue only! They really are the best. My flight down this month was 40 minutes early. Yes you heard me right 40 MINUTES!! So I say you go Jet Blue. Great fares, great service and tv's to take your mind off of the fact that at any time you could plummet to a fiery death!!:rotfl:

Looking forward to the next installment!

Jay

You got it, T-Man, Bill and Mike and Richie and Ben and Stan and of course, good 'ol Pennywise were all from Derry. Oh, I forgot the girl,,, um, Beverly Marsh? "I worry about you Bevvie, I worry a lot."

This is crazy, but DH and I are just about to start watching "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". I love the movie, it's an annual tradition for us.

You are talking the Beach Club Villas, right? If so then I know the hidden gate and exactly where you were at, Yeah, you had a wall of trees right in front of you, but you could not gget closer to Epcot.

WL was really great too. We were in room 6143 there, which was decent, but not great. The WL was at 99% occupancy, so the learned map skill didn't help quite as much.

We stayed here once in '06 for 4 nights, but room numbers only stay with me for a few months, then they go bye bye, but I think it was something like 5144, it trees weren't blocking, it was a dead on view of the small villas pool, were you that side too?

End of April, early May is a great time to go, that's what we have booked next spring. Crowds are reasonable, and it's Flower and Garden time at Epcot, though they only have the oldies bands now on the weekends. And it's not unbearably hot yet nor are there the typical summer afternoon thunderstorms every day.

Disney in spriing, brought to you by Nebo

Doogie was great in Starship Troopers, a terrific movie that re-defines the satire generation.

;)

Also, remember you can ship stuff too to your hotel or have things delivered via Garden Grocer or one of those services.

Um,,, it's not the food we need delivered, as far as I know, they don't sell whiskey or wodka.

ha haha,,,, now that you typed that all out, this is where I get to tell you that JetBlue doesn't fly out of O'Hare, or if they do, they don't have any MCO flights, Southwest doesn't fly from O'Hare either.

As for AK, there's not that many must see's,,,, absolutely the Nemo Musical and Festival of the Lion King,,,Dinoaur, Everest and Primevil Whirl, especially if you have kids.
For a counter service meal it's Flame Tree, or if you want a sit down table service Yak and Yeti is a good, albeit different choice, that's about it.

Just a quick note to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas!

I'll be stepping on a plane tomorrow AM to head over to Nebo and Smidgy's part of the world; and I probably won't have much internet access while gone. So have fun while I'm away, and I'll catch up in a little over a week.

Oh, I'm sad, that was a great line, but I suppose it's better this way, and it did have it's 15 minutes of fame.

Thanks Nebo! I'm good with that. And now, when future generations view this trip report, they'll be all :confused3 saying "Wha? I don't get it. What happened?"

Oh that's just great. You knew Ponzi would crack and have to say something, and now after walking right up to the edge of the cliff and leaning over, you toss me over the side as well!
