P.O.T.C. On Stranger Rides! The Missing Chapter,,Final Thoughts,, Preview Thoughts.

Happy Birthday!!! Hope it is a good one. So Ellen is one thing I have never done at Epcot. Never seen the dolphins either but I keep looking. There are a few things I need to see at Epcot still.

I believe these two pictures are from the ride in The Land, the second one one is for sure.

Cool pictures of the deer in your yard! A few years ago it was snowing and my youngest dd looked out back and said "Mom, there's a donkey in the backyard!" Of course we didn't believe her but she insisted so we went to the window and there were two deer standing silently in the falling snow...it was beautiful! Of course we've never let her live down the fact she thought they were donkeys ;). (I should add she was about four at the time :)).

That's cute, I like that, Donkeys. So when is Donkey season by you?

First: the pictures are from the Land: the first one is from the dirt section.. I'll never get that smell out of my head... because that's what it smells like in the spring before it storms and the wind picks up the dust. The second is the room where they grow the fish.. I think it's carpe... (or crape had my DFIL would call it)

Actually, all kinds of fish, from sturgeon to tilapia. Not sure why sturgeon, I don't think there's a restaurant on site that has it on the menu. But they also raise gators in the same building and gater taters aren't in any food court that I've seen.

Yes, this is how I celebrate my bday, doing call outs.
Got a problem with that?:rotfl:

Second: Who cares if you missing MASH? MASH is a) old and b) boring.

Wow, welcome to my ignore list.

Lastly: you wanna share some of that cheesecake with me? I'd appreciated it.

Oh, The cheescake, I forgot about that, see ya!
QUOTE]

Happy Birthday Nebo!

Yep, the two mystery pictures are from Living with the Land. If I remember correctly, the first picture is in the initial seance/sequence of the ride, and the chickens/scarecrow are across from the farmhouse. The 2nd picture is as you enter the aquaculture portion of the ride. I usually ride Living with the Land 5-6 times every trip as DD isn't quite 40 inches yet, so she can't ride Soarin or TT yet.

This ride has always confounded us. There's a big gap after the Americana scenes and before you go in the greenhouses that really contain, well, nothing, but a couple of empty stages on your left. ]

Every time the attaction goes under refurb, I expect that something now will be done in the "dead zones" but nothing there ever changes. Look next time on your left before you turn to the left and enter the first greenhouse, there's an empty stage, with what looks like a couple of little speakers sitting on it, and some suitcases in the back. :confused3

Wow! Those deer pictures are really something Nebo! We have a ton of them here as well. We see deer tracks almost daily outside, but we don't usually have up close and personal encounters, unless we are in a moving vehicle! :scared1:

My son totalled his Cavalier less than a month after buying it hitting a deer on the highway. No, the deer nor the Chevy are gonna be allright little Tommy.

Your Illuminations pictures are really good. They make me wish I was there to see it tonight.

Yeah, sigh, me too. I just listened to the music 5 minutes ago.

Smidgy and Nebo, thanks so much for the great advice on the must sees at Disney during the holidays. The Osborne lights and holiday Illuminations are high on my list, but now I want to resort hop to see all the deluxe decorations as well. I think it will be great to take the kids while they both still believe in Santa's magic. There's always magic at Disney but coupled with childhood innocence it really can be unbeatable!

Absolutely! And I think your kids will like it just as well!

And speaking of cheesecake, I made a toffee cheesecake for Thanksgiving that was/is out of this world. You and Smidgy should jump in the Santa Fe and drive the 9-10 hours to have a slice! ;)

Ok, let me write a note for Smidgy.

Happy Birthday!!! Hope it is a good one. So Ellen is one thing I have never done at Epcot. Never seen the dolphins either but I keep looking. There are a few things I need to see at Epcot still.

That's because the Dolphins are in Miami.

And then I thought, "I should pick a random TR and post Happy Birthday ____ and see how many other people chime in."
]

that is just hilarious, and mykind of practical joke. you know how it is with Christmas cards? back when everyone used to send tons of them, sometimes you would get one from someone you weren't sure who it was? and you didn't want to offend, so you sent one back?

well, back in the 80's I picked 3 families at random out of our local phone book.. and sent them christmas cards.. with return addresses. and signed them "steve, diane and family.. merry christmas! hope to see you soon!"

I didn't get any back...:sad2:, but I was tenacious... I sent the SAME 3 families cards for 3 years! can you believe I never got one back?? hhhummmphh. I'm mad at them now.. not gonna get together with THEM anymore!:rotfl:

, how does a hoof hold another hoof on either side of them?

:lmao::lmao:

where do you come up with this stuff? I just scared my dogs when I laughed out loud and then choked on my pop.

:rotfl: that is so funny!! I still have 2 people who send them to me and I have no clue who they are but for the past few years I get a card from them.....hmmmmm, is that you Diane?

hope you had a nice birthday honey!!! (ok, everyone, I did see him for a while, anyway.. gave hime his presents.... a stephen king short story compilaiton, a couple shirts, and a.. Disney gift card!!!)
tomorrow is our thanskgiving with the kids and grandkids yay!!!!

great chapter!!! love seeing the pictures of the deer.
it's funny,g uys, we se deer a LOT. you wouldn't think so, being in a townhouse, but they are always right outside our sliding door.
that's why it was hilarious once. we were coming back from Mk in the afternoon, and no one was on the bus but us. so we were chatting up the bus driver (they are the best for news, tips, rumors, etc) and she got all excited and said to us.. "LOOK! to your right across that field.. DEER!"

course I'm always amazed at how excited people get in WDW about mallard ducks)

and back when our son Jermey bought a cavalier (and we were divorced, and nebo wouldn't cosign for him, so I stupidly did) the VERY NEXT day!!! deer ran out in front of him on the interstate.. I90! Jeremy never met a car he couldn't total...
his first car, our friends who getting rid of, so they gave it to him, an old beater, might have been a nova??? he had it about 2 weeks before his totalled it in an accident at an intersection.
so we bought him a $500 car from another bartender at my old job. he had that a few mopnths before he totaled it.

he was delivering pizzas at the same restaurants I where I was waitressing. someone ran into the rest. "there's an accident outside!!call 911!" I ran out to see a smashed car, and my son lying on the frozen ground (it was late dec. about 5 degrees out) trying to breathe. he had an asthma attack while delivering pizzas.. good thing his inhaler was safely in his locker for christams break! he was trying to get back to the rest. and rammed another car.. me "why didn't you pull over if you couldn't breathe?" him, "um, yeah, and then what? die" (my teens were the last generation of teen sbefore cell phones)

anyway, I digress.. JAMMINATORS! son Jeremy would LOVE them (he played drums.) they are like a very shortened version of the act STOMP, if any of you have ever heard of it.. all percussion, but with push brooms, garbage can lids, apple chewing, you name it. I relly like the show. it seems like a few dorks, then all of a sudden they morph into really cool musicians... gotta love the way Disney does stuff like that. it's all those little"touches" that add SO much. this is why it irkd me when people conmpare disney to a six flags.. or say "I don't really like theme parks, not into rides so much" .. and you know what?
don't waste your breath, their mind is made u[ and they just refuse to listen to you.

Voices of Liberty: yes, that was a crappy video, the audio was really poor.. youcan't hear it, but these are some of the best Acapella singers around, wish nebo had taped my favorite, the tall guy on the right with the baby face and the most mellow, low, sexy, (um, oops, forgot where I was,, oh yeah, trip report...) bass voice I have ever heard. and the same guy has been there for a few years, that I know of.

Buzz, that is another not to miss thing at Christmas time. the voices of Liberty do Christmas songs,,, dress in Victorian style costumes, and BOY you get goosebumps!!!

ellen: ah yes.. I love her dearly, she cracks me up! I love the Jeapordy preshow, with good ol' Jamie lee curtis. then there is a VERY short ride , with a FEW dinosaurs. then.. it's like when you were a kid in grammar school and the teacher would say "we are going to watch a movie today, class!" (as you got older, you knew that meant that the teacher had a hangover)...

well, you were so excited.. and it might be fun for a bit, maybe a little catoon light bulb, or something.. then it dragged on into the most boring documentary about electricity of something like that.. forever!!!
but if you are hot, looking for air condintiong, or a nap, try it.

and as far as MASH goes,,I might have liked it, in the day, before seeing it a thousand times!!!! aargh!!!

Yes, that's right! They have somehow learned how to grow and cultivate,,,,, Aluminum!
I wonder if Roderigo knows about this.

It really is the strangest thing, but at least now I know what happens to old Schwinn bicycles and hula hoops.

I think I like bicycle trees better than the upside dixie cup trees though.

Another fun chapter! So, we were flipping through On Demand last night looking for a movie and a preview comes on for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Aha! I thought. That's where that title came from. Had no idea. I got the POTC connection but thought it was to the ride, not the movie!

The Christmas card story is too funny!

We love the Ellen preshow the best. Especially the part when she says,"Stupid Judy". Everytime somebody does something dumb around us, we shout that out.

Hello Boys and girls, once again it is time for a Nebo wildlife picture seance,

Okay everyone. Hold hands and concentrate on the spirit of the dearly departed deceased deer, oh dear.

Seance? Why in the heck did I type seance?
I meant sequence, does that make more sense?

Absolutely! You can't have a seance if someone's not wearing sequins.

No, not gonna get the deer to sit in a circle all humming "OHMMM",,, waiting for Bambi to come and speak to them, besides, how does a hoof hold another hoof on either side of them?

Well, no. You can't get deer to use a hoof to hold another hoof. They're too aloof to hold a hoof.

Ok, I came downstairs in the morning a couple of days ago, and there was a big shadow right outside our sliding doors.

Ed McMahon? You could already be a winner!

No, Mischief isn't a slut, I got her 11 years ago from the shelter and she was fixed and declawed,,,and I don't think ever forgiven me for that,,, but she get's along with everything.
Well, except maybe some mice.

Interesting. I guess it's just a cliche that girls are scared of mice... fixed and declawed... Oh! She's a cat!... I hope? :scared:

Not sure why, but these pictures came out really faded it seemed to me,,,maybe because it was cloudy and the sun wasn't really up much this early.

Maybe picking up glare from the glass. Brighter inside then out? (I mean the light... not the camera operator)

Knock,,,,,,,,,

three times on the ceiling if you want me,,

Twice on the pipe... I think you know what the answer is. :rolleyes1

From the department of corrections, I totally forgot getting stuck on the monorail leaving the Grand Floridian.

We boarded, it moved, it stopped, we sat.
Took about 15 minutes before we got underway again, nodt sure what was wrong, the omnipresent voice over went silent as well.

Ah hah! A perfect example of "Nebo is always right"! If Smidgy hadn't reminded him, this would have merited an entire chapter. But since he forgot, he's minimizing it to three measly lines!

Here's the straight down shot, maybe a little bit back to our right,,,

102.jpg

What's weird about that? It's obviously a shot of your dinner table with broccoli nicely arranged on it. Could be worse... could be brussels sprouts.

Kind of hard to tell what you're looking at, isn't it?
Ok, let's go downstairs, the fist picture is a reflecting pool just outside the doors.

I like that. Very calming. Zen-like.

Yes, that's right! They have somehow learned how to grow and cultivate,,,,, Aluminum!

Day of the Triffids.

I wonder if Roderigo knows about this.

Allll Riiight!

We decided to skip rope drop

:rotfl: "skip rope drop"... I like that!
cuerda.gif

Anyway, I want you all to know there will be no more trouble from the Beast for the rest of our stay at Disney, no more sadness, no more gnashing of teeth.

Gee I don't know whether to be happy for you or sad for me 'cause it was so entertaining... Oh, all right. I'll go with happy for you.

Oh, and that's where Smidgy also told me I don't look good in my red tank top anymore.

Ooh. Harsh.

but it's also to catch the group that's replaced The Brittish Invasion at one of the Epcot countries, whose name escapes me right now, darn, which one was it?

The Falklands? Home of Colombo?

The band was off today, nothing going on in the England pavillion. Yeah, that's what it was, England,,and no band, and not even Robert, it was a nightmare for me.:rolleyes1
( I know, Ponzi, but I had to )

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do... even on Elm Street.

Ok, time for a mystery picture, I'll even throw two at you:

Nope. I know now 'cause others have posted, but I've never been on that ride. Just sounded boring... so...

So, are you ready for some, um, entertainment?

Meet the Jammitors! Video time, turn on those speakers.

Can't. I'm at work and it's blocked. Gotta wait til I get home.

What we did do though was spend a lot of time over in the Seas with Nemo pavillion, even sitting in with Crush to taking the ride and then looking at all the exhibits and taking the quizzes.

I think Crush is one of the most underrated attractions at WDW.

From here we walked over to the Showcase and watched Martin try to sell us on how nice Canada really is, but we weren't buying it.

Another one I've never seen. I just can't see myself watching a movie that tries to get me to go somewhere I already live!

After talking about it, we decided for some strange reason to go all the way back to the Land and took the boat ride looking to see if Roderigo was walking around in there again.
No she wasn't.

Allll Riiight!

Yep, once every 3 years here is enough, thank you Ellen, at least she didn't do her dance.

I seldom watch her show... and it's okay. But why oh why does she have to do that dance? If I'm channel surfing and shes doing it, I catch another wave.

Usually no matter how fast we are, there is still a contingent that always beats us to the bus stop, but this time we shot up the ramp to the monorail as the hordes filled in behind us.

Hordes. Not a typo. Geesh.

Hordes... Did you catch the Academy awards a couple of years ago when Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin hosted?

I guess that's it for tonight, tomorrow we head on over to AkL. I have no name for this chapter, I'm losing it.
(oh, i'm missing MASH, hmm, wonder what's in the fridge, is that cheesecake still in there? And why am I telling all of you this?)

a. What do you mean "losing"? You can't lose what's already lost.
b. If you're gonna mention the cheesecake, you have to provide enough for everybody.
c. I have no idea why you are telling us this... and I have no idea why I'm commenting on it.

Can't wait for the next update! :goodvibes

:lmao: That is so great! I wonder what some of the reactions were...

"Honey! We got another card from those people again! Are you sure you don't know who they are????"

"Why do they keep sending us Christmas cards? Don't they know we're (fill in the non-Christmas-celebrating religion of your choice)?"

"Grrrr! It's those people trying to be funny again! Is there any way we can break their catalytic converter or give 'em a flat tire the next time they leave town?"

"I will have my revenge! Thanks to the return address, I was able to get a scrap of cloth that belonged to them and fashioned it into a voodoo doll. And now... a pin to the eye!"

Whoops! Forgot to mention...

Finished Come Out Tonight last night....

Well, other then the incredibly improbable plot and the completely unbelievable characters... you were wrong about it. You said it didn't merit even a bonfire, but I think it would be perfect for one. :crazy2: I kept reading and going, "Oh, come on!" My DD10 writes more believably than that! Lesson learned.

I did start Twisted (about 1/3 done) and really enjoying that one. :)

I forgot about doing that, that was pretty funny.

:lmao::lmao:

where do you come up with this stuff? I just scared my dogs when I laughed out loud and then choked on my pop.

fI'm trying to be your inspiration Cherie, to gget you to work on your report, I still want to know about Disneyland.

Jeremy never met a car he couldn't total...

that is so true, well put. I'd be scared to death to even ride Test Track with him, I'm afraid the barrier test would really work. Heck, I'd be afraid to ride the Tomorrowland Speedway with him!

I think I like bicycle trees better than the upside dixie cup trees though.

Huh? Dixie Cup trees?

Another fun chapter! So, we were flipping through On Demand last night looking for a movie and a preview comes on for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Aha! I thought. That's where that title came from. Had no idea. I got the POTC connection but thought it was to the ride, not the movie!

Yay, the nickel dropped in! i hope you get the flavor bubble gum you wanted.

The Christmas card story is too funny!

We love the Ellen preshow the best. Especially the part when she says,"Stupid Judy". Everytime somebody does something dumb around us, we shout that out.

I like that, but I think you should say "stupid Albert" , he never answered a question.

did you enjoy the Bears game? I got yelled at during the whole thing because we didn't air it... we had the Colts game instead... lots of mad Bears fans.

Absolutely! You can't have a seance if someone's not wearing sequins.

Ok, good play on words, 2 points.

Ed McMahon? You could already be a winner!

I was when I finally realized to just throw that huge packet from the mail in the garbage.

Maybe picking up glare from the glass. Brighter inside then out? (I mean the light... not the camera operator)

No, it wasn't brightness coming from the camera operator,,, oh, HEY!

Ah hah! A perfect example of "Nebo is always right"! If Smidgy hadn't reminded him, this would have merited an entire chapter. But since he forgot, he's minimizing it to three measly lines!

Oh? Is that how you think I really am?
SHallow like Hal?
Ok, so maybe I left out the part when the monorail was locked up with us in it and the woman across from us went into labor. If there was anything interesting about Diane delivering the triplets, all of them breach, I would have writen more about it.
"Breach baby, breach baby give me your foot, give me something that I can remember,,,,"
But really, it would have been boring, what's to tell?

Day of the Triffids.

I saw this first run at the Patio theatre in Chicago, I"m guessing '65. A BOX of popcorn was a nickel.
It was a tradition to then tear up all our popcorn boxes into little pieces and put them all in one box,, and at the end of the movie one person would get to stand up and toss all the confetti all over the theater like it was New Years Eve. They must have loved that but everybody did it then.

Allll Riiight!

:rotfl: "skip rope drop"... I like that!
cuerda.gif

Allll Riiiight! I owe you a hug for that! No way I thought anybody would get that, which is why I cracked right after that and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do... even on Elm Street.

,,,,,,,,,and made this so pointedly obvious

Nope. I know now 'cause others have posted, but I've never been on that ride. Just sounded boring... so...

Not that boring, it's a nice ride and usuallly a short wait.

Can't. I'm at work and it's blocked. Gotta wait til I get home.

Oh yes, what cell block are you in again?

I think Crush is one of the most underrated attractions at WDW.

Living with the Land is boring, but a fake turtle talking to a bunch of 5 year olds.............:confused3

Another one I've never seen. I just can't see myself watching a movie that tries to get me to go somewhere I already live!

Whoa! Who said that?
I thought it was as a prevention to stay away from "Canada, my Canada,,,," ok, I do like that song though. Wow, you need to see this too, if only for the circlevision effects.

Allll Riiight!

I seldom watch her show... and it's okay. But why oh why does she have to do that dance? If I'm channel surfing and shes doing it, I catch another wave.

Her dance is what you do when you're at home drinking and you daughter brings some friends home and you can't wait to try and embarass her in front of her friends by being the goofy, "Mom".

Hordes... Did you catch the Academy awards a couple of years ago when Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin hosted?

I do vaguely remember something about that.

Can't wait for the next update! :goodvibes

Thank you for your continued criticism.

:lmao: That is so great! I wonder what some of the reactions were...

"Honey! We got another card from those people again! Are you sure you don't know who they are????"

"I will have my revenge! Thanks to the return address, I was able to get a scrap of cloth that belonged to them and fashioned it into a voodoo doll. And now... a pin to the eye!"

Well, at least we've narrowed down where they came from originally, Haiiti.

Whoops! Forgot to mention...

Finished Come Out Tonight last night....

You said it didn't merit even a bonfire, but I think it would be perfect for one. :crazy2: I kept reading and going, "Oh, come on!" My DD10 writes more believably than that! Lesson learned.

I did start Twisted (about 1/3 done) and really enjoying that one. :)

You kidding? You found it and read it already? It's been a year and a half, at least and I still haven't finished it.

did you enjoy the Bears game? I got yelled at during the whole thing because we didn't air it... we had the Colts game instead... lots of mad Bears fans.

Becca, I would have preferred you kept the Colts game on, watching the Bears was painful.

Ed McMahon? You could already be a winner!

I was when I finally realized to just throw that huge packet from the mail in the garbage.

Her dance is what you do when you're at home drinking and you daughter brings some friends home and you can't wait to try and embarrass her in front of her friends by being the goofy, "Mom".
My dad used to get a lot of mail asking for donations for groups that he did not support. A couple of times he put the Ed McMahon mail into the donation return envelope with a note that said, "It looks like this is a winner. The money's all yours."
And no wonder I love Ellen's dancing. I AM the embarrassing mom, even without alcohol.:dancer:<Me!

I've been off the Dis for a few days, so I wanted to wish you a Happy (belated) Birthday!!! Hope you enjoyed it and had a happy thanksgiving.

MASH and cheesecake sounds like a great way to end the day. :thumbsup2

"Breach baby, breach baby give me your foot, give me something that I can remember,,,,"

Ouch! :headache: Okay, was that really necessary? :sad2:

It was a tradition to then tear up all our popcorn boxes into little pieces and put them all in one box,, and at the end of the movie one person would get to stand up and toss all the confetti all over the theater like it was New Years Eve. They must have loved that but everybody did it then.

:rotfl: That's funny! Wish I could've seen that.

Allll Riiiight! I owe you a hug for that!

That's alright, sir. Merely a handshake will do just fine, thank you.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. :rolleyes1

,,,,,,,,,and made this so pointedly obvious

Hah! Not that obvious. I kept trying to make the connection between England and band and then to Robert. I at first thought of this...

England = Band of Joy (from England)
Band of Joy = Robert Plant (in Band of Joy)
Robert Plant = Robert Englund
Robert Englund = Nightmare on Elm Street

I figured that was a little too convoluted, even for you. Took a second look, took out the band part, smacked myself on the forehead and got it.

Oh yes, what cell block are you in again?

The one just above the pit of eternal damnation.

Living with the Land is boring, but a fake turtle talking to a bunch of 5 year olds.............

I see your point. But. First time we went was when DDs were 4 and 8. I was amazed at the technology behind it to make it seem so realistic. Still am.

Hordes... Did you catch the Academy awards a couple of years ago when Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin hosted?

I do vaguely remember something about that.

I'll have to do some creative spelling to get this in, so bear with me.

Alec: "Now here's a couple of clothes HORs."
Steve: "That's clothes horses."
Alec: "I didn't know the plural of HORe was whorses."

Thank you for your continued criticism.

Well I was going to stop and give you a break, but since you enjoy it...

You kidding? You found it and read it already? It's been a year and a half, at least and I still haven't finished it.

Trust me... don't bother. :sad2:
