IMMEDIATELY! There is no way he should get away with that!

That's awful about the CCC. Places like Goodyear and STS are such rip-offs. I think they pay their mechanics on commission. It doesn't matter what you bring your car in for, it's going to cost over $1,000 because they'll find 3 other things that need to be fixed right away. We found a mechanic a few years ago that we practically have to beg to take our money, he's so honest. A couple months ago my car was leaking something, a lot of something and the transmission felt like it was slipping. We worried it would need to be replaced and we'd have a huge bill to pay. Anyway, he ended up tightening the transmission pan, topped off whatever fluid we'd lost, and charged us $5.

Oh, the poor beast. I knew it wasn't going to go well. Though it isn't really the beast's fault as much as the guy at the Car Care Center. And why do I have a feeling that the tire valve is going to give you trouble again on the way home?

Knock knock,
Oh yes, the security is brutal up here, Alcatraz should have been so tight, it would still be in operation.
Barty Crouch would have died of old age if he was kept here.
No way he could have escaped and gotten Cedrick killed when they both reached for the portkey, which would mean that Pattinson would not have been free to get to go on and play Edward, which also means that then Lautner wouldn't have a reason to constantly take off his shirt and the world would have been a much better place!

LOVE IT! :thumbsup2

you know the best way to slay the beast?

Go back as soon as possible and have the time of your life. We did that after our Herding Cats trip, althought the beast in that case was my FIL. :rolleyes1

I hope the rest of the trip was better, though my gut feeling is that is won't be.

Off Topic - well, back to a prior topic - I never actually see any deer in our woods, but I know there there because the dog will try to tear my arm off on our walks in the woods sometimes as he finds a really exciting trail.
And someone set some corn down for them.

And everyone who has a bad experience at the CCC, definately report them to Goodyear, or whoever is in charge. The more complaints, the more likely things are to change. or that's been my experience from the service end.

Knock knock,

Breaking news,, how wonderfull, the Bears win their fifth in a row yesterday, now Cutler needs thumb surgery and is probably out for the year, our hopes and dreams now lie with somebody named Caleb! Spiffy, absolutely spiffy.

Oh, and his last name is Haney, as in, Mr. Haney! Marvelous, maybe we can get Oliver to do the long snapping since he went down for the year, also.

_______________________________________________

Steve.. I heard this morning that Denver cut Kyle Orton, so he could come to the Bears and lead them. :rotfl: That would at least relieve you of Mr. Haney.. and Caleb no less.. doesn't really ring super bowl quarterback does it? Still better than my awesome 'Skins have managed with our sputtering offense (no matter who our quarterback is). Swept by the Cowboys!!! :confused3:scared1:

We were just starting on our food when of course, the phone rings. She answered it, said, "Hold on", and handed it to me.

I guess it's always best to deal with the Beast directly.

I knew this wasn't going to go well when after I said hello all I got in return was a demonic laugh.

He then turned back into the counter guy we originally dealt with, and with cheeriness in his voice, he tole me the car is ready.

It was when he told me the final cost that I started drooling.
Do you remember the original quote? That's right, 1260 I believe it was, which was a heart attack right there, in itself.

And his new number after spinnning the big, "What'll we charge this schmuck" wheel?

1670.

Oh wait, not 1670.

It was, 1670 dollars!!!!!:sick::headache::scared1:

OMG $1670!!!
I have you beat there though.. earlier this year took my Impala in to have the transmission looked at because it wasn't "acting" right (it wasn't acting much like a transmission that's for sure). Anyway, after some time in the shop and me driving a "loaner" i get that same dreaded call.. well several things have to be replaced, fluids changed, etc. and it's going to cost over $4000 dollars.. Thank goodness, when i bought the car a couple of oyears ago, i bought an extended warranty which offset some of the costs (which still cost me $1200 out of pocket) Thank goodness for the extended warranty thats for sure. That one hurt too and i wasn't even on vacation.. can't even imagine how that would have felt.. (oh forgot to mention that was at the stealership so yea..) :scared1::scared1:

Want to guess who's rest of the day was shot?

I had a couple of fries, then pushed the rest away which eventually ended up in the trash can nearby. I think maybe, two bites of the burger, I just didn't want it anymore.

We still hadn't finished doing what we had intended to do, so after we were finished we packed our stuff and headed over to the lake side pool to check it out.
The "we" I'm referring to now, would now be, Smidgy and the Grump.

nothing like a dose of good news like that to ruin a day.. love that.

Oh yeah, pictures:

112.jpg

Great pictures.. keep this happy place in your mind on your way to the CCC to talk to Mr. Happy News
His explanations for the extra cost was that first of all, he didn't give the estimate, it was from the guy in the shop.
"No, don't give me that crap, YOU were the one that dragged me back to the car and stood right next to me as your mechanic read it all off to me."

Then he said I approved the charge originally to which I replied, "Ok, show me my signature saying that," to which he just stared at me in stupid confusion.

"HEY, show my my signature!"

Then he said the charge now includes tax, which wasn't in the estimate, and a "Shop fee" which wasn't in the estimate. "So, you gave me an estimate and did't include everything?" He just ignored this.

Shop fee was 120 dollars alone, this includes the use of rags for the mechanics, the use of lighting and soap for the mechanics to wash up afterward,,,,,and the use of the hoist,,,I'm not kidding.

Then he told me that 25 bucks is for fixing the flat tire, too, you may have bought the tires from Goodyear two weeks ago, but warranty doesn't include taking out a nail you picked up on the road.

That was when I really lost it.

"You're just a two bit thief, you know it"
"I told you it was a leaky valve that needed to be replaced under warranty, there was no nail involved and you f***ing know it! Now you're trying to charge me for a fictiional nail?"
"What, replacing an exhaust system isn't enough for you? You gotta try and rip me off for pretending to fix a tire, too?" I was ballistic!

That was when he remembered and looked back at the work order/reciept.
On it all it says is, "Repair Tire."

"Ok, tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm just going to waive the tire repair, you won't have to pay anything for that."

"Oh, is that what waive means?"

"What I want to know, now, is if this valve was replaced or not!"

"Oh, I'm sure it was."

"If that's so then you are admitting to being a thief and trying to rip me off for pulling out a nail that didn't exist!."

I really, honestly, truly wanted to beat the crap out of him.

In a nice way.

Then I looked down and almost cracked up:
apparently he's afraid I'm just gonna run without paying him because he has now got his hand back over my keys that have been sitting on the counter.

You know this really kills me.. seriously.. situated near the happiest place on the earth is the biggest ripoff on earth... well maybe not the biggest but really!! and what would they have done if you didn't have "room" on the cards..

You should have hurt him, grabbed the keys and run!!! oh wait, i'm sure that wouldn't have turned out well in more ways than one.. You would have missed the door (because it was dimly lit) smacked into the window, then they would have scooped you up in the paddy wagon and hauled poor Nebo to jail.. :scared1: now that would have been the beast really biting...

But right before I opend the door and left for good, I let it close and walked back up to the counter, with him eyeing me warrily:
I made sure he was watching me as I carefully grabbed one of his stack of business cards that are sitting on the counter, after reading the card and making sure it matched the name on his uniform, I put it carefully in my wallet before I turned and walked out without saying a word.
Let him worry about that, if he has a conscience.

Sometimes I think I should have complained to Disney about this, but not really sure how much they have to do with the Car Care Center which is owned by Goodyear.
What's Disney going to do, comp us a free tire fill up with genuine Florida air the next time we are down there?
Besides, we just got plenty of the genuine Florida hot air!
When you walked back in, you probably scared the poop out of him..
Thought you were gonna go all Chicago on him!!! I wonder how much Disney does have over them, they might have knocked off the cost of a couple of those shop rags too!!

As for the fireworks viewing?
That is terrific, right on par with California Grill, and the soundtrack is pumped in there too.

We stood outside with our beers, got a good spot ten minutes before it started just in case a group came up but that didn't happen and we just stood there talking for awhile until it started.

Mostly, this time it was her helping me out.
I was having a hard time putting the car issue behind and moving on, that amount of a repair just freaked me out,,,

and I really wanted to hurt him.
I havent felt like that in a loooooonnnng time, but to this day I can still see that look, hear his smarmy voice......

AHHHGGGH!

But she got me past it by bringing back up what we talked about just two days ago, no point in staying if we can't enjoy ourselves, so, ok, yep, Icandoit, no problem, donl't worry, I put this behind me.

Easy Pea.......:upsidedow

Then the show started at 9:30.

I only took a couple of pictures.
For some reason, while it was a cool show to watch, it just wasn't a great photogenic show from up here for pictures.

117.jpg

118.jpg

119.jpg

The whole show was themed around Halloween, with much to do with/from the Haunted Mansion.
There was even an extended Grim Grinning Ghosts thing going on with what I'm almost positve was voice imitators or impressionists, including your "ghost Host" who died quite some time ago, I believe.

However, I still prefer Wishes, while what is cool here is that the shells are fired from many different areas around the MK, but there'w a lot to be said for the story, which really isn't here in this show.
As they say, Story matters, and only Wishes really has a STORY.

I think when I was up here once again messin with the camera, I finally got the date and time matched up with the real world. I'm not positive yet, but today is the 13th and I think that's what it says on the pictures.
The key will be what happens when the clock strikes midnight, then we'll know!

Or, the rooster crows, whichever comes first.

But anyway, this dreaded chapter is now officially over, I have my baby back, and all it cost was our first born male son!

So, have we made enough sacrifices at the altar for the Beast?
Has enough blood been spilled, can we relax now?

What do you think?

ni ni

Well at the end of the day, at least you had a good bookend day.. good morning by the poool in a nice serene environment and a great night sipping a cold one watching the fireworks from the top of the world.. Take away that crappy middle part of the day and it was perfect!!

And I hope for this guys sake, the air in that tire better not fluctuate 1 PSI or else the wrath of Nebo will come down on him..

Ohh. forgot to mention.. guess what i got in the mail the other day.. An invitation from DME to come join them in late December..:dance3:
we're in our countdown less than a month to go.. hopefully we'll encounter better weather than we all did last december. I'm a little worried about the time of year and crowds, but we're going to go and just have fun and be darned the crowds.. and DD is still none the wiser so far!!

Ya know I never really left...just lurking a bit and when I saw the part about Spectro I had to put in my two cents! We leave for Disney tomorrow, I have my "BRING BACK SPECTRO" picket sign to hold up when MSEP is passing, I put blinking lights and everything...too much? I think not...:rolleyes1
Ill be back next wed to catch up on things...hopefully you'll have gotten around to a least 2 or 3 updates ;)

I like your blinking sign, and I would make a point of standing with my back to the parade when it goes by. Have a great trip, see you when you get back.

Yeah, that's what I thought, too. How can Disney tolerate the highway robbery that goes on? We're at the Happiest Place On Earth and we get robbed blind for an auto repair? Really? I would love to share my experience with someone, but I can't find anyone to complain to either. Warning other Dissers might help some, but I have no idea where I can take a broked vehicle to be fixed while I enjoy a vacation at WDW. I do know it's not the car car center. :scared1:

Isns't that a shame? All these trips down and we never once had to ever go there, talk about doing there best to ruin a vacation.....

I was getting heated just reading about it. There is nothing worse than being upset during a WDW vacation. The time spent there is so precious and limited that every second you aren't totally enjoying yourself is such a waste. Actually, it's a damned shame is what it is.

In the words of my 10 year old daughter (who gets her language at times from her redheaded mother) when a young girl was freaking out and melting down about her hair coming out of the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique. She turned to me as sweet as can be and said,

"You know what that is daddy? That's Bibbidy Bobbidy BULLS#$%!"

You and Smidgy have had your fill of "Bibbidy Bobbidy BULLS@#$!" this trip!!

:rotfl2:Ok, which wasy is is? S@#$, or S#$%

Jay

PS. Sorry about Cutler. Tough break, though with the beatings he has taken this year it was bound to happen. Maybe they claim Orton off of waivers since the Broncos cut him and are putting all of their eggs in the "Mile High Savior" basket the rest of the way.

Isn't that amazing? Tebow is no quarterback, what the heck did Orton have to do for them?
Wouldn't that be irony, to get the guy back that you traded away to get Cutler!

Dang about the car, Nebo, how frustrating! CCC used to be owned by Disney back in the day, but they decided that's not really their expertise.
Anyway, I was right there with you, spent many a dollar there...

So true about the bartenders at TOTW, they are hurting. I haven't worked at the Contemporary in over a year, but even then there was discussion about allowing more people up there. Part of the issue is parking concerns plus they want to keep the lounge as a member only amenity. Anyway, apparently still no resolution Have to agree about the security to the building, but I think you might have just lucked out on getting in from the top floor, normally you can only get there with an escort from the first floor.

Smidgy and I don't need no stinkin' escort!
Actually, we have had no problem with the other companies that set up business on Disney property.
Dolphin, Swan,,, T-Rex,,, we like all of them. Oh, and the Hess stations have the cheapest gas in all of Florida as far as I've seen, but this CCC has has it's own agenda.

just like they are suposed to when pool hopping. no oe once asked to see anything at GF!!! I guess it is not a big "sought after pool" no idea why not. well ok , no slide, but beautiful!!!

and , as far as GF is concerned, I would stay there any day any how, any way. it doens' feel snooty or snobby to me at all anymore.. that feeling a few years back of not belonging? nope.. gone! I belong!

but ironically, if I could stya there, I would try to use the boats as much as possible.. the monorails jus suck now. not just cause of the new rules. they break down a lot. (one instance coming up)

lines are long, etc. too bad there isn't a continous walkway around the lagoon. you can walk from the ttc to the poly. dont' know,k but i don't think you can walk to GF from there. but you cannot walk from GF to the MK.. (they probably don't want all the 'day guests" traipsing through the deluxe resorts on their way to and from the MK.)

but, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at th gf pool!:thumbsup2

Ok, Grand Floridian it IS!
Can you rent rooms by the hour there?:lmao:

All I can say is wow! I would never been able to to contain myself with that man.

Sure you could with the proper drugs.

Smidgy, I opened the Grand back in 1988, it will alway be my baby.

No it's not snooty at all, and it's beautiful. :cloud9: I had some of the best years of my life there.

Yeah, we should all go and stay there for a week,,what's a couple of rooms when they have hundreds?

marita! so jealous! one day, I will stay there....

:lmao::rotfl: Why am I picturing that Russian guy running up to Woody Allen with a hunk of sod yelling, "One day I will build on this land!"

This may become my new favorite phrase.

I'm assuming you are talking about the BBB, ,,,,, that is beautifull isn't it? The way it just flows off the tongue. Jay, your legacy will live on forever!

Glad you decided to make the best of the rest of the trip, and I bet the CMs at TOWL were glad to see you guys.

Oh yeah, that 2.78 cents we left them had them oohing and ahhing as we walked out, one said he was retireing and the other said "Now I can finally get that operation I've had my eye on."

Sewer rat, it's beyond weird with the deer here, they are everywhere around us, it's like sitting at Casey's Corner knee deep in ducks an other birds.
A neighbor of mine when we were the first ones in the subdivision, cracked and shot one with a bow and arrow, but he could just as easily gone and strangled it I think>

Steve.. I heard this morning that Denver cut Kyle Orton, so he could come to the Bears and lead them. :rotfl: That would at least relieve you of Mr. Haney.. and Caleb no less.. doesn't really ring super bowl quarterback does it? Um, yeah, and how about that, you TOO have an ex Bear qb over there in good old Rex,, hey, he took us to the Superbowl back in '06.

OMG $1670!!!

that's funny, funny how Chicago still has that stigma after all these years, and there has been a couple of times I have played the Chicago card in the past when on vacation. "By the way, my Great Uncle was Bugsy Moran, and none of us STILL celebrate St. Valentine's Day!":lmao:

Well at the end of the day, at least you had a good bookend day.. good morning by the poool in a nice serene environment and a great night sipping a cold one watching the fireworks from the top of the world.. Take away that crappy middle part of the day and it was perfect!!

And I hope for this guys sake, the air in that tire better not fluctuate 1 PSI or else the wrath of Nebo will come down on him..

Nope, it did not fluctuate,, or gravitate, or lactate one single PSI on the way home,,,,,,

you were only 31 PSI off!

Ohh. forgot to mention.. guess what i got in the mail the other day..

You do know it's not DME, but DMD, right?
And that's great that the secret is still going, I kind a wish you would give her at least a day or so warning to get excited and look forward to it,,,,,but I know, you know her better and what will work the best. By the way, that last trip in JULY was us expecting to have to deal with massive summer crowds,,,, and it really wasn't much of a problem, as long as you did rope drop and got fastpasses for later on.

Have fun and hope it's warmer for you,,,,,, heck, can't be much worse thatn it was in early DEC. last year!

You do know it's not DME, but DMD, right?

Well i thought it was only DMD when Disney hangs the eviction notice on your door. DME on the way in!! :wizard:

And yes. we're actually trying to play out the scenarios.. we have to board the family dog and it would look suspicious if he all of a sudden isn't there saturday night... We do a Christmas get together with my family the day before we leave, so we may work it into that.. Not sure.. Of course she'll never sleep Saturday night.

We're not worried too much about crowds.. we have been so many times that we almost get to the point that we're there for the atmosphere and secondary for the rides.. we will do the rope drops (or evening magic hours) as much as possible to take advantage as best we can.

Wow, good call on the extended warranty,, I do like that word though, stealership, gonna use that sometime.

Woohooo!!! i get credit for a neboism!! Stealership!!

Have fun and hope it's warmer for you,,,,,, heck, can't be much worse thatn it was in early DEC. last year!

As far as the weather.. i'm not sure it could get much colder than it was last december when we went. I swear the fake snow on Main St and at Ozzy's light show were real!!!

Yeah, but what a great couple of trip report chapters it would have been,,, heck,,, maybe even 3!

Heck maybe even 4.. who wouldnt want to read about Nebo in the big house. woud have been more dramatic than Riglee's TR

that's funny, funny how Chicago still has that stigma after all these years, and there has been a couple of times I have played the Chicago card in the past when on vacation. "By the way, my Great Uncle was Bugsy Moran, and none of us STILL celebrate St. Valentine's Day!":lmao:

I have family up in the Joliet area that I swore were connected to the mafia in some way.. They just had a way of looking at you when they told you something that made you think.. Living near the big famous prison doesn't help either. We visited up there when i was a teenager and that was one of the places they took us by.. (also managed to get a trip to a Sox and Cubbies game too with my cousins). But yeah, my uncle could play that Chicago card VERRRYYYY convincingly!!

Nope, it did not fluctuate,, or gravitate, or lactate one single PSI on the way home,,,,,,

you were only 31 PSI off!

So you had Smidgy check it out.. since she is the one that detected it to begin with.

Yeah, we should all go and stay there for a week,,what's a couple of rooms when they have hundreds?
That was exactly the thinking of the opening GM of the Grand. Got him fired in a hurry :rolleyes1He came from "THE OUTSIDE" His kids were brought up living in hotels. When asked where milk comes from, they said "room service". True story.

Also, the girls' idea of doing the dishes was putting the room service tray outside the door. Not happening working for Disney, LOL.

Happy Thanksgiving to Nebo and Smidgy and all fellow Neboites!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! :grouphug:

And Nebo, you're a Thanksgiving Baby, at least for this year. ;) Happy Birthday!! I hope you are having a terrific day!
