P.O.T.C. On Stranger Rides! The Missing Chapter,,Final Thoughts,, Preview Thoughts.

Great movie, Armageddon. When Steve is straddling that rocket...... Oh, wait. That didn't sound right did it?

Actually, in this movie it was "Yeeeeeee Hawwwww. Ride 'em Cowboy. Yippee ai yo kai yay" (Spelling :confused3). "No Nukes, No Nukes, No Nukes." Actually there is another line before the no nukes, but not really appropriate (I don't think) for a family site. :rolleyes1

Just what I needed today, when I was feeling sorry for myself with my flooded yard and basement, I can be very thankful I was not on this road trip with you too.

I drove home from Maine on a sunday during Irene, which was only 2 hours, and off and on sheets of rain, but we laugh because on friday we were sitting on the beach and watching everyone batten down their trailers and pull all the boats out of the water, and someone said, should we be more concerned than we are? and someone else said, ah, lets have some more mimosas, and we didn't think about it again.

I'm happy to know that you made it home safe, or you wouldn't be writing this, so I am enjoying this, but it would make a great movie. I think the umbrella car could save the day.

You've probably mentioned before, but I forget, why not fly? Dumb question, and you dont' have to share, and I don't mean to pry, but I'm just procrastinating cleaning up the basement here. I'd really love to be in disney right now.

Here, let me help.
In ascending order:

drizzle
showers
rain
pouring
gangbusters
sheets
shere's Noah

So where does sprinkling fit into this? Between drizzle and showers? Or is it the same as a drizzle?

And what happened to the cats & dogs? :confused3 Did they get washed away by the sheets of rain? Or did Noah come on his arc to save them since it was almost shere's Noah out?

Yes, Con-Air; that great blockbuster with John Cusak, Nicholas Cage, Steve Buscemi and Colm Meaney it is. Creeepy Creeepy Pedophile Steve Buscemi.

Seeing as we live in the B'ham area, the I65 drive (once you'er past Alabaster) ain't too bad. And DSIL lives right off the Bates House Of Turkey Exit (yes, that is the official name of the exit - at least in Alabama) so we start out after work, stay the night at th in-laws, leave by 8am the next morning at the latest and (weather and DH's led foot permitting) make the Orlando area by about 3pm the next day.

We used to schedule a stop in, say, Lake City, but lately the led foot has gotten us farther than that.

I couldn't help but think of the last chapter as I drove into work this morning. North eastern Mass got 6 inches of rain in a couple of hours this morning. It wasnt that bad at my house but I had to drive through it to get to work.

Oh, we still got to see all theose billboards, Perry is just a little bit south of Macon.

We have family who live in Albany, GA but I can never keep straight the distance between Macon and the various little towns between Macon and Albany. The "clubs" and stores are in the proximity of a military base if I am remembering correctly.

Funny you mentioned Orangeburg, I not only know where it is, but we've stayed there on the May,'07 trip on the way down. I think it's off of rt. 26, then you take 26 east past another little town named St. something,, George? Right after that you pick up 95 and we took that to St. Auggie.
Thankds for your tornado story, Buzz.[/B]

You have a great memory Nebo! Yes, you do pass St. George and a little further down the road, I believe once you are on 95, you pass Yemassee. Talk about interesting names for towns/cities! :)

Anyway, I-26 is very close to our home. We live in the central part of SC and travel 95 to Myrtle Beach and and Florida. It's a pretty boring drive, but I will take expediency any day when I'm trying to get to Disney. 75 would add an extra hour to the trip for us. I am thinking that we may stop at the Florida welcome center for a free cup of juice next time we go to Disney as a family. The kids would like that I think, as well as the chance to stretch their legs. I'm a Neboesque mom, in that they get the speech that we will make only 2 bathroom breaks unless there is an absolute emergency as I just want to get there!!! ;)

Ponzi, you sir, ROCK!! :thumbsup2 I love the Nebo and Smidgy graphic!!!

So close yet so far away. I do wish I could have met up with you as you cruised through Newnan. We actually live in a little town near Newnan but it is so small that I just put Newnan as my hometown. We live off Hwy 16 so you went right by my house. I can't believe how bad the weather was. I hate driving in the rain so kudos to you and Smidgy for doing a fantastic job in the rain.

Nice work Ponzi, I do want to see if I can use that for my Avatar.

I failed to see that last night for some reason, so I never paid proper homage. Awesome pic! :worship:

As what, a referee or to be a witness?:lmao:

As a spectator, sipping cold beers with brandy chasers and some awesome apps to munch on! I might even stay on property fo the occasion, LOL.

Thumper and wife, I think a Nebo meet would be the best ever! Easy for me, im just a down the road (well, 40 minutes, but still)

Great movie, Armageddon. When Steve is straddling that rocket...... Oh, wait. That didn't sound right did it?

Thanks, I forgot that that in the past I should never trust you! Who was that in the 60's movie, "How I learned to love the bomb,,,, Failsafe? Somebody in the posters was riding a bomb?

What?
Cattle heads?
Horns?

ON the Tiki building?

Ok, everybody, just be nice to her, we don't know if she can be violent.

I'm not crazy! Well, not about this anyway. I read a whole article about the statue on the top of the tiki building. And you can see them in your picture! Look again - it looks like the head of a bull. :headache:

See, I told you she can get violent! Ok, everybody go back a couple of pages to find that picture, are there cows on the very top of the Pagoda?
I think Okittysquared is about to become, Okittycubed.

I'm now picturing Steve Buscemi singing this now, can someone tell me why?

I think the movie you are referring to is Con Air - someone said Armageddon so maybe I am wrong - which just means that I have been quoting this scene from the wrong movie for a long time!

Ponzi - You are correct - never argue with an artistic interpretation - although I though Steve was smiling because he had a little help from his viking friends! :rotfl:

Gina is the winner of the hearty hand...........
enjoy! Yes, idt was Steve playing Garland Green, the pedophile,,,, and singing that creepy version of the song at the end,

As for the smiling picture, you could be rigtht, it looked like it was probably taken in my favorite smoking area near BTMR, which means that I may have recently taken some meds right berfore then.

Thank you, Marie. :thumbsup2

Clearly Nebo needs to read more about WDW. The Unofficial Guide doesn't count!

I refuse to be intimidated by someone whose only screen name is in reverse!
!that take, there So!

You've probably mentioned before, but I forget, why not fly? Dumb question, and you dont' have to share, and I don't mean to pry, but I'm just procrastinating cleaning up the basement here. I'd really love to be in disney right now.

The answer is simple T-Man..
I'm sick!

But I really miss the adventure of driving when we fly.
Then, I really miss not having a car when we fly, and I have yet to find a reason to rent one when you have Magical Express/Depress, to get yuo from the place where the planes hang out.

And, to fly, means giving up any discounts cuz we have to have the free dining, since we can't bring our own food down.

Geesh!, Ok, I dindn't think anybody referred to rain anymore as tinkles,,,,,, I mean sprinkles,,,,,but yes, definately between drizzle and showers, as for the cats and dogs designation being removed from my official list?

That's all because I wasn't wearing any socks the first night and went out and stepped in a poodle.
A big one!

I'm guessing that your edit that you left alone meant you like the word "creeepy" spelled that way.

I DO TOO!

Yep, I totally understand.
That's why I think all of us, and I mean ALL OF US reading this, should move to the DisneyWorld area.

\ Then we can all bend together!

bond

geesh!

That was quite a drive down :scared1: I am glad you both made it safe and sound. Big kudos to Smidy for her driving skills :) Hopefully there is no more driving ussues-don;t know if I can take it.....

Great tag teaming Smidgy! Nebo it's great you were able to give over the driving, Raymond never would let me drive (actually he wouldn't let anyone else drive at all, lol).

We have hit quite a few hurricanes going to and from Disney World but lucked out on never being in Disney World during one. We raced one home one year, one of the few times Raymond went over the speed limit because it was coming fast.

Waiting for your next chapter. :goodvibes

Have any of you ever noticed how the ads at the bottom of your screen seem to relate to the topic being discussed?

It's kind of creepy in a way:scared1:

So why am I seeing laundry detergent ads now?

WOW! Here's to hoping Lee doesn't have an identical twin hanging out to meet us in three weeks!!
YAY for Smidgy!!

Nah, I like bend. We can all go on a bender together. :thumbsup2

'Cause Nebo came clean about letting Smidgy do the driving.

Hi Nebo and Smidgy! I confess, I am a lurker. But, that is because I have only recently discovered the addiction of reading trip reports! My family and I took our 2cd trip to Disney this past May, which was actually DH's first trip. During my research, I came across the Dis and found this section and was hooked! I read all of your other reports before we went to Disney and I have to say, you two are awesome! I can read your reports for hours! popcorn::
So, I wanted to post and say hi since I actually caught a live TR from you! I hope your trip was great! I'm jonesing for another Disney trip and if I can get ressies for the 1st week of Jan, I think I'm gonna take the kids. DH leaves Monday for a year deployment to Africa, so sticking around here for all of the holidays doesn't sound too appetizing. Plus, if we go to Disney, I'll have the perfect excuse not to go to my mom's! (hope she's not reading this)
Thanks for the entertainment Nebo, you really do have a way with words!
Diane, so sorry you lost your dad. And I'm also sorry your drive down was so awful, serious kudos to you for driving like you did!
Can't wait to read more!!

Doh! :headache: you're right.

Ah, shoot! njtinkmom beat me to it. I much preferred Fargo, though.

Ah, love Fargo :thumbsup2 extremely underrated.

Aside from my movie recollection dis-ability I seem to have contracted  , the 60's were a bit before my time. I have seen Beach Blanket Bingo, does that count? :littleangel:

Ooh, ooh. I'm not nearly as movie-literate as you and Ponzi, but I've got this one. Dr. Strangelove! Who could forget Peter Sellers in multiple roles (not rolls) in that movie? Comic genius!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057012/

It was Slim Pickens riding the bomb at the end. Yeee-Hawww!

So i've been completely out of the loop these past few days and up to my knees in 7th and 8th graders :headache: so I need to really catch up on the latest updates, but something caught my eye and you know me...never one to miss an opportunity. :cutie:

So, DH and i were talking last night about how he couldn't remember asking this question on this thread...I began to suspect that he was sleep posting, or that he was trying to fool me by creating a new persona without my knowledge... Either Mikamah is Thumper_Man/ Thumper_Man is Mikamah...or something went awry...so either DH and Mikamah are in cahoots :confused3 or.............

Nebo...You got some 'splaining to do :rotfl2:
