Oyster Murderers

She does eat meat and wear leather and such so I don't know what the big deal is. She is a huge animal lover though. Once we were at the beach and this little boy had caught a crab and kept it in a bucket by his chair all day. When his family went inside for a break she went over and set the crab free........you should have seen his face when he came back and Mr. Crab was gone......haha
:lmao: :rotfl2: That is too funny! I can see myself doing the same thing!!! But don't get me wrong, I'll eat them as well! ;) I'm like a pp and I prefer to be as far away from the process as possible!

The thing that gets me is the little cartons of dead fish you buy at Sea World to feed the dolphins and sting rays. "Hi! Welcome to our park about how cool fish are! Could I interest you in some dead ones to stick between your fingers?"
:fish: :lmao: (they need a smiley spewing a drink from laughing so hard!!) You guys crack me up!!!A great way to start a day, agree?

I got one of these pearls from a shop at Old Town in Orlando back in the 80s. The oyster was preserved in formaldehyde, since they were already dead. (And would have been quite smelly if they just had unpreserved dead oysters laying around!)

Guess I won't be using a snack credit for those oysters! :rotfl:

Maybe we should hold little oyster funerals? Even if they were alive, heck, it's an oyster. It's not like they scream or anything.;)

You nearly made me spit my coffee on the monitor with that. :lmao: Now I'm going to have a hard time getting the image of oyster screams out of my head.

so, what's the verdict on this? are these things already dead?
are they food rejects?

i eat meat, but i'm against animal cruelty and watching things be killed... except for those ants that snuck into the apartment.

Yup, dead WAY before you pick one to get the pearl, and no way you would want to eat that lol.

This is perhaps the best thread title ever:thumbsup2

I never once thought about all this info. Now all I'm going to be thinking about is where do they get so many dead oysters? Maybe ten years from now someone can come back bump and answer that for me!

They are dead, but since they are seeded with sand, essentially they're raised and killed for the purpose of providing a pearl, much the way mink are raised and killed for fur. Obviously everyone can decide if they equate an oyster with a mink, but both are dead when you see them and lived and died for fashion.

I don't see anything silly about deciding that you're okay with animals dying to feed you but not for luxury fashions. I'm good with the oysters myself, but it's an opinion I can respect.
