I am seriously considering one of these but have a few questions?

What sort of things do you leave in them?

Have you left shampoo, Shaving cream and RAzors and had them be fine for use?

If I leave something like the above in November and then go back the next July will the stuff be okay.

PArt of my reason for debating one is we are going this April, the November and then either July or August of 2010?

I also think it would be great to leave a few things like laundry soap and dishwashing soap. Some clothing and Beach Towels

TIA

We have left all of the above with exception of towels. Everything has always been fine, not one ounce of liquid ever spilled. It has allowed us to travel carry on only, which is so nice now with all the added fee's. We have sooo much in the locker I have a hard time remembering. I really should use the checklist they provide:rotfl2:
John & Brian are the best, willing to go out of their way to accommodate you. If you need any other info please feel free to pm me. You will not regret becoming an OL member:cheer2:

We just got one on our last trip because I wanted to keep things like spices, better knives, some other cooking items (can you tell I like to cook). Also things like laundry detergent, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc.. We have always been frustrated that simple things like a simple rubber spatula is missing from the room inventory.

I was amazed how much I could get in one and can't wait to go back in a few months to see how things worked out.

Our deciding factor was that we were tired of having re-buy things each time and not have the cooking items needed to make good meals in the room. We were already able to do carry on only baggage by having small bottles of everything, but now we don't have to carry any liquids so it will be even easier.

I recently signed up for OL even though my trip isn't until 10/25. I've got a list of things for delievery such as the laudry soap, shampoo and all that liquid stuff. If I don't have to rebuy all that stuff every year I think it would save a lot of money. Plus I already have a box filled with things like dishtowels, garbage bags, a nite light etc. I think OL is probably one of the best business ever invented.

The stuff you listed above we have in our locker. It was more than 6 months after leaving them and they are fine. Make sure everything is dry when putting in. Our locker is full to the top. We have stuff like zip lock bags, a curling iron for DW. Brushes and combs, extra batteries for cameras. An extra memory card, a wireless router. There are threads on this board also. I have heard folks say they have left left over bottles of water, adult beverage bottles full and part full. We have a brita pitcher and extra filters. We pack all of our liquid stuff so it wont fall and such. You would get a text message and an email when your locker arrives at your resort. We fly so when we turn on our cell phones a message is waiting telling us our locker is there. At DVC and other Disney resorts bell services know all about the lockers. I know they also go to many other resorts in the area. They will also meet you somewhere if you are traveling through to get your locker. Like at the airport or meet you somewhere if you are driving through to go to somewhere like a cruise of Vero Beach.

we are from the uk and have 2 we go once a year at xmas all the stuff in them is fine, one of the best services we have ever used :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone You all just sealed the deal for me I am going to look into having one delivered for our April Trip. :)

By the way, there is a divider insert that goes in the bottom of the locker that really helps keeping liquid containers upright and provides a way to organize stuff in general. The divider does not extend all the way to the top so you can put larger things at the top. If you don't like using the divider, it is removable.

There is also a fishing tackle kind of box to hold a bunch of small items and keep them from sinking down to the bottom and getting lost.

The locker is a good match with ownerhip of a time share in another city that where you stay year after year.

We used to rent offsite homes and each one had a locked closet where the owner stored their stuff. Same idea, but portable.

So if we decided to get one starting with our trip this August we could have it delivered to BCV at first then when we move on to Vero for a few days we just take it with us and then we'd ask them to meet us somewhere at the airport or the car rental return place or something when we leave??:confused3 I would be worried about the timing on something like that if we were driving 2+ hours back from Vero. Anybody have specific experience doing something like this???

I looked at their website a few days ago but didn't see anything about the pricing for DISBoard members. I thought they had a deal but I didn't see what it was.

There is a one time membership fee of $75 which you get a discount on and an annual plan fee of $99. We get a discount on the membership fee. When you go to sign up it asks how you heard about them you can click on the DIS board and it gives you the discount.

Once you have an OL you wonder how you ever survived without it. Please keep in mind they will store other things besides the lockers. We have 2 lockers and stroller stored with them.

Oh, OK. My bad. I went to the website again & played with it some more. I thought since the one-time membership fee discount was better thru the Mousesavers referral that DIS members got more than 1 delivery per year included for that $99 or something like that. With only 1 delivery per year included it still doesn't outweigh the luggage fees charged by the airlines for us. Personally, for only 1 delivery per year included we'd still be ahead $ wise with having a checked bag since I will use more carry-ons than I used to in order to cut back on the checked bags. Although since I do all the packing for us I can see the benefits it would provide this amt. of $ will not convince DH that it's a good plan if we have to pay each time we go to get it delivered. Thanks!!

Hi gang,

Thought I might weigh in. Lots of folks worry about the shelf life of things in their Locker. Think of your Locker as a shelf in your pantry, laundry room or bathroom and medicine cabinet. Stuff lasts with us as long as it will last in your home. In other words, I wouldn't worry.

And here's a link to the DIS deal. Have a look and if you have any questions, contact us:

Anal Annie (I won't even ask), we do meet folks passing through Orlando by car or air quite often and it has worked flawlessly. I've got to give Brian credit here, but with advance planning, flight monitoring and (importantly) cell phones it's just not that difficult. We're out almost all of the time and it's just a case of slotting in the meet up.

As for whether you really need Owner's Locker, I can answer that. No you don't. You can get along fine with out it. But I would encourage you to give it a try under our risk free trial. It just may transform the whole packing/unpacking experience and even more importantly, you may really like having things along with you that you'd never dream of packing, shipping or buying and throwing away.

And as always, thanks to our Members for doing a better job of selling OL that I could!!

Thanks, John....I am sure that I would love the Owners Locker...but it's convincing DH to spend the money that I can't get past. I even already made a list of things I would put in it - and it's a full sheet of paper! I tried your link again, but it still doesn't SAY anything on the contract about the 2nd free visit. I'm afraid that being Anal Annie (anal as in retentive BTW) I have to see it in writing other than your post. If I commit to paying money online somewhere it has to SAY what I'm getting. I don't know if there's something wrong with your website but it still clearly says only 1 visit per year even if I select "the DIS" as my referral.:confused3

For what it's worth, I received my second visit last year free.

This deal is on the up and up but I understand your need for due diligence.

OK....here's more than you probably wanted to know.....

It 's relatively easy to get our site to show the DIS discount. It is extremely difficult (i.e. VERY expensive) to get it to show an extra free Visit for three years when the DIS offer is chosen. Since we don't know how long the DIS offer is going to last, we have elected to send the following e-mail to everyone who signs up under the DIS offer:

"We’re excited that you’ve become a new Owner’s Locker Member with our promotion on The DIS. We just want to confirm that as a part of this promotion, the Membership Fee will be $45 instead of the usual $75 and that your Standard Annual Plan will include TWO Visits per year the first three years of your Membership in Owner’s Locker.

If you have any questions at all about your new Membership, please let us know.

Welcome aboard!!

John and Brian"

I hope that helps but if you need something else, let me know.

As for the reluctant partner issue, we see it all of the time. All I can say is that almost every week at our EPCOT Wine Evenings, I hear a once reluctant partner claim that OL was his idea in the first place. Good luck with hubby.

Does it save you money to have OL as opposed to an extra suitcase to check, or mailing a box down.......perhaps not.
Does it make trip and packing easier and less stressful.....definitely!

I am the Queen of frugal and was on the fence for a long time about whether to get OL or not. What finally convinced me (along with all the positive reports on the DIS), was the money back guarantee.

After using it once, I am totally hooked. In addition to the majority of items already mentioned, we also store framed pictures of our kids and grandkids, keyboards for our laptops, even a flat monitor for our laptops.

Thanks for the additional info. - that's helpful for my obsessive compulsive side to see. Now, to be clear - IF (that's a BIG if) I was able to convince DH that THIS IS THE WAY to go, we would be charged the 1 time discounted membership fee NOW when we sign up and then we wouldn't be charged for the annual fee until 30 days prior to our first use / trip in August?!? Is that right? So initially, it would be a $45 fee. Then the $99 is charged in July? And then our 2nd visit (maybe next spring) would be "free" then if we go again next July we pay the $25 for that delivery? Then we start the 2 free over again? Not sure what our plans will be beyond July 2010. And this summer, we COULD arrange to be met say at the car rental return place or whatever when we arrive back to MCO from Vero? What kind of time window do you allow for something like that? We've never done that drive before so I don't know how long it will take. Would I schedule the pickup with an estimated time and then call on our cell when we actually leave Vero and have a better idea on the time we'll be arriving at the car return place??

Ok, so now one more question. What if something happens between now & then and we need to cancel the membership? Is the one-time fee refundable or is all that spelled out on the website and I need to go back & do more reading??:goodvibes

I don't think I will be able to talk DH into it just quite yet since we don't go until August...but I will try to work on him with it.
