A couple questions for those of you who have OL's.

1. Is the inventory list editable and printable yet?

2. How far in advance of your next trip would you recommend signing up?

We're pretty sure we'd like to get one, and I'm starting to work on a list of what we might put in it.

Yes you can edit you inventory list and print it out.

If you are going in a couple of months you might as well sign up now I'm fairly sure you don't pay your yearly fee until the locker is delivered to your resort the first time.

I do believe you won't be charged until the locker is dropped off so you might as well sign up now. You can get a lot of information and ideas on the OL website. We have used our locker for 3 trips so far and it is so nice to have!
John and Brian at OL are the best and I'm sure they would be happy to answer any questions you might have!

We have used ours 2x now and love it. As has been mentioned the OL site has lots of great information on using the locker. After the first time using it, I was hooked.

I just signed up the other day. It was easy! And has been said, the membership fee will not be charged until right before your trip and the annual fee will be charged on your checkout day of your first trip.

I can't wait to start using it an packing lighter!

Aw, thanks for the kind words.

Mello, the on-line inventory is indeed fully functional. Your question is a good one as it reminds me that we need to show folks what it looks like on our site. As it is, only people who have already signed up can see how it works.

You simply enter the name of an item such as "shampoo" and then you can enter in as much detail about the item as you'd like such as "Johnson's Baby Shampoo 32 ounces half full." You can also put thing like expiration dates here. Then you click on a button to store the info and add as many items as you'd like. A list of the items is displayed as you go. You can click on any item to get to the details and edit them.

And you can print out the list along with the details any time you'd like.

The on-line inventory can also be used to store lots of other data such as lists of dinner reservations, things to do, things to buy, etc.

As the other posters have mentioned, you can sign up anytime you want. We don't charge you until 30 days before you arrive for you Membership Fee; and your annual fee isn't charged and your "use year" doesn't start until the day you check out and your stuff comes into the warehouse for the first time.

Believe it or not, Mello, this is the short answer. If you're a real glutton for punishment, here's a link to the long version:

Now, I'm off to write a longer piece about the on-line inventory!

Thanks again for asking the question!

I just want to say after 4 visits to Disney using the Owners Locker, I love it ! My life has been extremely hectic the last few months and being able to throw things into a carry on and spend 8 nights at WDW happened because of everything already in the locker!!!!

I also have to say I have received nothing but the best of service from John and Brian. I didn't get to call them before this trip but had called several other times and always , ALWAYS got an answer to a question right away from one of them when I called.

There are a variety of ways to get your stuff to Orlando , carry it , ship it or leave it. These guys know it , and they work their buts off in the customer service area succeeding in pleasing this customer every time I've used the service!!!!!

Looks like we'll be signing up this week then. Can't wait to start filling it up!

We love our Owner's Locker! We have all kinds of stuff in ours, including a 5 lb. bag of charcoal, and an unopened bottle of wine!! Brian and John said to give them a workout, so I have(I'm a beta member). I have gone to strange, out of the way resorts, changed resorts mid-trip, gone home a day early, added on to a trip, and gone on several trips in a year, often close together. Our Owner's Locker has always been delivered and picked up on time. Once, they even called the resort for us to tell them that yes, the resort did have our Owner's Locker, and it looked like ****, and sure enough, it was right where they said it was!;) And those lockers hold a lot of stuff!:rotfl:

Maybe this is going slightly off thread but here goes. I am a DVC member from the UK and try to go home every year for at least a week. Sometimes it's slightly longer than yearly sometimes slightly shorter - you get the picture. There are always things we take everytime (ponchos, drinking bottles, toiletries, lanyards etc). Do you think that for a yearly trip it is worth renting at Owners Locker? It would lighten my luggage for the transatlantic flight, of course, but is there anybody else who only uses theirs once a year or even less.

Hey tinkerbell 766,

You're not off topic at all. Owner's Locker was actually designed to be attractive to people who visit only once per year. Several of our Beta Trial volunteers only come once per year and love it.

We always have a risk free trial where you can try Owner's Locker and if you decide it's not for you, we refund every penny you've paid us.

Having lived in England myself, I would think Owner's Locker would make particular sense. I don't need to tell you how convenient it might be to have US electrical items like cell phone chargers, etc. and just leave them in Orlando rather than haul them back and forth.

John

p.s. I was through Penrith over Christmas visiting my in-laws. they live in Cumbria as well.

Take my advice.....keep a list of what's in your locker!!! I don't and I'm always duplicating..kind of defeats the purpose. I have to actually sit down the next time and go through it all and list it all out. But up to now, I've been too busy having fun to take the time. Believe me...it pays to keep the list current.;)

Just used our locker for the 1st time a couple wks ago. It is great not having to worry about over packing. It was fun thinking of things we can keep in the locker. Can't wait to see it again in Sept. I said to DH that we left a little piece of ourselves in FL! Great idea and great service!!

I just signed up 2 minutes ago!!!

I looking forward to stocking up my Owners Locker with stuff so we can just do carry-ons. Coming from Canada and having at least 1 flight connection(usually 2) and customs to deal with, it'll be nice to have this service so I don't go to Publix and buy $100+ worth of shampoo, sunscreen, liquor and misc other stuff and leave 3/4's of it at the resort. It will save me time and money!

Hey JDVM
Thanks, you have convinced me about Owners Locker and I will soon be a new customer. If you are ever in sunny:rolleyes1 Penrith again please do PM me. It would be great to meet you and share a coffee if you have the time

I just left my Locker a couple of weeks ago. I used it 4 times in the last year. I might not be using it until next summer < very SAD > <g> I did go through it and throw some items away that would have gone bad and took note what I need to replenish.

If I don't use it til then I have a lighter load. If on the very off chance I can get away for even just a couple of days , I can throw my stuff in a carry on knowing the locker has loads of my stuff already there !!!!

OK, we are seriously thinking of getting an OL. We are heading down in March and then again in Dec. The question I have is how has everyone gotten the stuff there to fill it?
I will being flying into Orlando from Canada and taking DME to the resort. I know I can get groceries and toiletries delivered, small stuff can go in my suitcase, then to the locker, but what about larger stuff? If I packed a brita in my luggage, I am reasonably certain that I would have nothing left but plastic dust by the time the airport is done with it. I would also like an electric kettle etc.
For those who did not have a car, is there an inexpensive way to get to the malls to pick some things up, did they ship the stuff separately, or will wego or GG pick up more than just groceries and alcohol?

I will be using OL for the first time on our July trip. We are planning on shipping a box with things to put in the OL to AKV prior to our trip. I have read here that you can do that as long as you indicate your name and your check in date on the box.

I have read that people have shipped items there successfully. If I lived in the USA that is probably how I would do it. Living in Canada, I am just a little concerned about shipping things across the border - customs, cost etc. Oh well. I guess I will take the plunge, sign up for the locker, and deal with any issues that arise as they arise. Thanks for the response.
