Owners Locker Owners

How about stopping at the SuperTarget just off of 417 and Orange Blossom Trail on your way from the airport and buying things for your locker? It is a toll exit, though (50¢, I think--no attendant for change), so be prepared.

Claire,

We like to pack lightly, so loading our locker was a big question for us too. In the end, we packed a lot in as many suitcases as we could check, then stopped at a store to fill in the missing pieces. On the way home, we stored an empty, smaller suitcase in a larger one. It was amazing how much room/weight it freed up.

Owner's Locker, and John/Brian, is a class act. You don't always find people who care about service the way they do.

OK, we are seriously thinking of getting an OL. We are heading down in March and then again in Dec. The question I have is how has everyone gotten the stuff there to fill it?
I will being flying into Orlando from Canada and taking DME to the resort. I know I can get groceries and toiletries delivered, small stuff can go in my suitcase, then to the locker, but what about larger stuff? If I packed a brita in my luggage, I am reasonably certain that I would have nothing left but plastic dust by the time the airport is done with it. I would also like an electric kettle etc.
For those who did not have a car, is there an inexpensive way to get to the malls to pick some things up, did they ship the stuff separately, or will wego or GG pick up more than just groceries and alcohol?

I packed my Pur water pitcher in my checked luggage and it made it just fine. I put clothing on top of it for extra padding, and packed small items like salt & pepper or spices inside it. I use soft-sided luggage too. As far as the electric kettle goes, I can't help you with that. Another idea is that you could ship the items to your resort before you leave with a note asking that they be held until your arrival. Hope this helps!

We just got back from a weekend trip. We got our locker for the first time. We took some stuff with us and rented a car. We went to Super Wal-Mart and got our stuff. We filled it to the top and had to repack a couple of times to make it fit. LOL I do not know what a taxi costs, but if you check online early you may get a decent deal on a one day car rental. Several car rentals pick up and drop off at WDW. There was a special for about $20 a day last weekend. The locker does hold allot of stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. So, if I pack and extra suitcase, or two and redistribute the clothing, I may be able to pad the stuff enough to survive. :worship: Then on the way back, I put one suitcase inside the other, and I fly home. I had not thought of doing that and it is relatively simple. I was trying to think about what to do with the empty suitcases. Sounds like a plan. I guess I have nothing (at least not much) to lose. If that fails, I can also hope for a cheap car rental (good idea!) and go shopping, or just wait until the next trip.

John, Brian I guess I will be signing up. I already have a three page list of what I want to store in my locker.

We are staying AKV Concierge this trip so if we miss out on the kettle or a few other items, we will probably be able to survive. :rotfl: I will have access to a car on my Dec trip. :)

I just returned from WDW and it was GREAT to travel with only a very small carryon. Everything I needed was allready stored and waiting for me in my Owners Locker! :goodvibes

Just signed up! Now I have just over a month before I head to Disney.:dance3: Time to go shopping  so I have everything I need for my locker ...

A question for those who have used OL and love it... about how many trips do you make a year?

My hold back is the number of trips we usually make....and the costs that add up. This last year I have been 5 times and while I know it would be convenient, I am looking at the costs that add up for that many trips.

So far, I have a "Disney" drawer I keep at home that has all of the reoccuring items we take, such as suncreen, ponchos, water shoes, umbrellas, wipes, backpacks, etc. So it will doesn't take that long to throw them into a bag.

Wish that OL has a multi-trip discount??!!

Hey VLee, we do have a Premium Annual Plan with unlimited yearly deliveries. It's $179/year instead of the Standard Annual Plan which is $99 per year which includes one Visit. Extras are $25 each. So if you're coming to WDW more than 4 times per year, it makes sense.

John

claire_ont, Welcome aboard...you may want to consider buying some of your Locker items here. A lot of our Canadian Members are taking advantage of the strong Canadian Dollar!

I am the Queen of 'frugal' and really wrestled with the cost of OL vs. just taking an extra bag and/or shipping a box full of 'stuff'. After only 1 trip with the Owners Locker, I can't imagine going back. The convenience of not having to pack and then unpack (back home) all the 'necessaries' for our Disny trips is so worth the annual fee.

You people sold me. I just signed up for our locker and I don't think we are going back to WDW until October. May have to :thumbsup2 sneak in a quick trip prior now that we have purchased into DVC. Can't wait to lighten my load of the kids stuff we carry back and forth. I can see 2 or even 3 lockers in our future! Only down side this will probably mean more quickie trips...is that bad?Nah. :cool1:

Great news, DisneyNutsy!

Welcome aboard. Make sure you look over other folks' packing lists to begin building your list of things to keep in your Locker. You can use the online inventory on your dashboard (what we call the My Account section of the OL site).

And keep in mind that one of the real benefits of having a Locker is to be able to store things you'd never dream of hauling back and forth.

We're beta testers as well and we're thrilled with the exceptional service John and Brian provide. At 1:30 AM Tuesday morning I sent my request via the OL website to have our locker delivered for our arrival at OKW later that afternoon. Sure enough it was there waiting for us at check-in. My making the request so late was an oversight on my part - still it is a testament to the service provided. In addition to sending my request late I had the locker delivered to OKW with my nephew's name on it as we're staying with him for a few nights before we check into our own villa. Nice job guys...I'm impressed.

Aw, thanks DBBN!

And, Brian and I want to take our hats off to you and our other volunteer Beta Trial Members who helped us get this baby on the road. You all were patient and supportive as we got Owner's Locker ready for prime time.

We didn't even bat an eye at your request...we designed our systems to handle situations just like this. After all, we're all about making vacations more convenient.

Here's a link to a rather longer discussion of why we don't need much notice (if any!)to get you your stuff.

You can also check a box stocked with the items you want to put in your OL. This will count towards your checked bag total but may be an easy way to get your stuff there.

Maybe this is going slightly off thread but here goes. I am a DVC member from the UK and try to go home every year for at least a week. Sometimes it's slightly longer than yearly sometimes slightly shorter - you get the picture. There are always things we take everytime (ponchos, drinking bottles, toiletries, lanyards etc). Do you think that for a yearly trip it is worth renting at Owners Locker? It would lighten my luggage for the transatlantic flight, of course, but is there anybody else who only uses theirs once a year or even less.

we do and its fantastic, we have cut down on our luggage and the convenience is great try it you wont be dissapointed.
