Owner's Locker - how heavy can it be?

Gulp - I just weighed the suitcase with the stuff for our new owner's locker. It's over 50 lbs without the suitcase. How much weight can the storage bin hold? It compresses up nicely, but that laundry detergent and air mattress are pretty darn heavy. Thank goodness SW will allow us 2 checked bags as I can shift the items for the locker between our 2 suitcases. Ahhh... we're a week away from single digits until our trip!

I think if anything it could be more of a safety issue for the Owner's Locker people moving it if it's too heavy.

You might want to e-mail John or Brian at OL and ask the question.

I know that ours weighs a lot. We have Bell Services move it for us and based upon their comments, OL's are all seem to be pretty heavy.

I think I saw a video recently where John mentions he has one locker than weighs in a 90 lbs. and another than gurgles when it's moved. So maybe you'll be alright. It would be best to contact OL or John directly to be safe.

Ours is probably close to 40-50 lbs. If you're going to go significantly over this (like the 90 lb locker mentioned by a pp), it might be nice to put a piece of masking tape or something on the outside of your locker and mark it as "Heavy". Or if you want to go all out, you could even print out something like this.

Someone can really hurt their back if they they pick up something that's much heavier than they expect. We run into the same problem in our warehouses. Cardboard boxes all look the same, so we try to mark the ones that are more than 50 lbs to prevent injuries.

There is no weight limit for the Owners Lockers. John talked about this last night at the wine mixer at Epcot. I think the empty lockers weigh about 8 lbs. and some do store some weighty items in there. Some have kept a case of water (gurgle, gurgle), wine bottles (we've had as many as 8 in our locker) and I think he said one member has an industrial sized mixer in theirs and he did mention 90 lbs. with a number well over 50 lbs.

They use handcarts/luggage carts for the real heavy ones, otherwise most can be handled one-at-a-time by a single person.

I just want to see if someone can break the 90 pound record!!

When you meet your Locker, you'll see that it handle anything you can cram into it. They were originally designed for the auto industry--though not in "Owner's Locker purple" so they really can take the weight.

Now isn't that just typical of Owners Locker? Quality product and John doesn't complain that folks pack heavy stuff! I can't wait to reconnect with my OL!
