We will be crusing next month on Dream for 5 days.
I have us staying at AKV Concierge for 2 days before & 2 days after the cruise.

My question is about the Owners Locker.
Can we leave it with AKV bell services for the 5 days we are on the Dream?
This mean I just schedule one drop-off & one pick-up.

Not sure I want to take it with us on the ship. Have heard lockers can be destroyed by luggage handlers when disembarking.

Thanks:dance3:

I would contact AKV and ask them. Since you're on a short cruise and you're staying concierge it may not be a problem. How are you going between the resort & the ship? Are you driving or using Disney transportation? We LOVE our Owners Locker and I've read of some people taking their lockers on the ship with no problems but then I've also read where they can get smashed if they end up on the bottom of the luggage pile. If I were to take it onto the ship I think I would elect to keep it WITH us like our carry-ons although that would be a pain unless you have a portable luggage cart to put it on.

Hiya,
The resorts will be fine with you leaving your Locker (and your other luggage) while you're on a cruise. They'll even transfer it to another resort. Just make sure you tell them exactly what you're doing so they can label it properly...many resort luggage rooms have special areas for guests' luggage who are on a cruise.
As for taking your Locker on a cruise, it will fit neatly under the desk or in the closet. But, Annie is right; we have heard some stories about rough handling of Lockers by the cruise line. Do make sure that it is packed well and be especially careful with glass items.

:wave2: Hi John!! I've missed my box soooo much this past year!! Haven't seen it in over a year and now we're going on the Med cruise this summer so I will STILLLLL be missing it!! I finally booked a trip for NEXT spring break just so I can see my box!

(I know, it's not a box, it's a locker!) :rotfl:

That is good to know- we will leave with bell services.
We will be using DCL transfers & will not have car.
One less thing to worry about.
Thanks,
Cathy:goodvibes

Has anyone taken these as a carry on on DCL? Do they fit through the scanner. We just bought a collapsible hand cart just to haul our owners locker around. In my ideal world we will store it in the locker...but I fear I may be too full already:rotfl:

As long as it will fit through the scanner, 22x14x9, you can carry it on.

Keep in mind if you have knives or appliances in it they may pull them and you won't get them back until after the cruise.

I'm thinking it may be too tall. We are trying to travel with just carry ons since our ol has all of our liquids. We've taken twice before without problems, but I've been hearing some scarey stories of mishandling.

We have checked ours several times without any damage. I would take out any glass you normally keep there. It's great to have all the kids sand toys, sun screen, and everything else we keep in there.

We've taken our on the Wonder and Magic with no problems.

Has anyone taken one onto the new ships? We're planning on taking our purple friend on the new Fantasy. Will it still fit under the desk?

We took ours on the Dream in December. I didn't try it under the desk as it slides right under the bed! :lovestruc

John was also wonderful meeting us at the airport on the way home.

We LOVE our Owners Locker and the service!

Love my OL also. We took it on one cruise and did check it with the porter on the way in and left it outside the door the night before disembarkation. No problems for us. It was on the Magic though.

We love our lockers! We have sailed many times and always leave our locker at the resort or have it transfered to our new resort. Bell services is much kinder to them than the cruise people (too many times our luggage has been damaged)! We check into the resort after the cruise and our locker is waiting for us. We write on the tag the date we will be returning and have never had any problems. We will be doing this again in April. :woohoo:

I thought for sure I would never find the answer to my question and here is the exact question I had and great ideas too!

I hope this isn't OT, but I'm new to DVC and planning to do a week at AKL followed by a cruise this October. We're planning to purchase an Owner's Locker this trip, but does anyone know if it's possible to transfer our Owner's Locker from the resort to the ship for our follow-on cruise without having to lug it ourselves?

If this should be in another forum here, can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!!
