overview for 1-day car rental?

We will be staying in WDW (Beach Club) and want to drive to Universal for one day just to see Harry Potter.

Any suggestions on how/where to rent a car for this?

Will any car rental drop off a car at the BC? Or is there a nearby rental office? Etc.

National/Alamo has a counter at the Dolphin so you can walk over there. You'll have to pick up the car during office hours, but it can be turned into valet services at any time of night or day. They will give you a receipt.

If you use alamo.com to reserve your car, the Alamo code for the Dolphin is ORLR74. The only issue with renting a car there is that the counter closes at 4pm. As the PP said, you can return the car after 4pm by turning it in to the valet but you cannot pick a car up after 4pm so plan accordingly!

You'll have to pick up the car during office hours

According to the Alamo website, the office at the Dolphin doesn't open until 8am. That's going to make it difficult to get to IOA before it opens (usually 9am, officially) and beat the crowds to Harry Potter, if that's your goal.

While much less convenient, the office at the Car Care Center opens at 6am.
