Does anyone have any suggestions for "overlooked" resturants on Disney property.

A place that does not get much "fanfare" but has good to great food ?

This restaurant has one of the best views in The World, and some of the finest food, to boot. It sits high atop the Wyndham, near the hotels of Downtown Disney. You rarely hear people talk about it, or chatter about it online. But the Unofficial Guide gave it a rave a few years back; we tried it, and were hooked.

The place is pricey, but the food is superb -- and, to many palates, more familiar than what you might find at V&As, which is somewhat comparable. Terrific steak and seafood, in a modern and elegant room that at dinner time is flooded with light from the setting sun. It also makes a great place to watch the fireworks, if you choose to dine later -- you will see all of 'em from up there! :D

I would like to add Tempura Kiku to that list. Everyone always talks about Tempanyaki Dining, but you see very little about Tempura Kiku. The food was very good, cooked in front of you. The service was wonderful, and it was very relaxing.

We tried Olivia's for the first time on our last trip and really enjoyed it. It's kind of a southern beach house ambience, with great food to match. The service was pleasant, and it was a nice quiet dinner.

If you like Seafood, Gulliver’s at the Swan. Seafood Buffet nights. When we have dined there, they have had Crab Legs, a Florida fish of some type Mahi, Grouper, Wahoo, Snapper etc and other seafood dishes, salads, Clam Chowder and made on premises Imho awesome cakes pies and desserts. Not a large buffet but the place has been almost empty every time. Timon and Rafiki have been known to show up as well.

Getting more and more popular but another Imho overlooked restaurant is Palio. Also at the Swan for Northern accented Italian

Another vote for Arthurs27 for overlooked gourmet food.

one of our most pleasant surprises was The Trails End buffeteria. good, down home fried chicken. very reasonably priced. one of the better dining values on site IMHO.

I agree that Arthurs is overlooked. My guess is that it--and any other restaurant in the Hotel Plaza area-just isn't consisdered a "Disney" restaurant. Plus-it is off the beaten path.
Olivia's is overlooked too. But again, somewhat off the beaten path and populated mostly by folks actually staying at the OKW resort.
Maya Grill seems to be overlooked as well. Haven't seen but one or two posts about it since they changed their menu awhile ago.

Can't think of its name but the restaurant in the clubhouse for Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge have really good sandwiches in a very pleasant setting.

eeyore0062,
Is Tempura KiKu also located in World Showcase? If so is it in the Japan or China pavillion?
We LOVE Teppanyaki and have dined there for both our DW trips, and were planning on dining there again this year.

Here's another vote for Olivia's. We ate there in December, and it was very good in both atmosphere and food. I can't believe we waited so long to try it considering DD# 1 is named Olivia!! They gave her a menu to take home and now it is framed in her bathroom!

Another one we really like is the Gullivers at the Swan.. It is a character meal but not a buffet. The food was great, service was great and each time we go we practically have the characters to ourselves.

I wouldn't say this is overlooked, but I don't read too much about Narcoossee's. It is one of my all time favorites at WDW. The lobster & filet mignon w/ vanilla sauce...oolala!!

MOMTOMOOTOO just curious when this changed? We were last there at the beginning of last summer and it was a Seafood Buffet that evening. Do they not have a buffet night at all there anymore? We loved the crablegs and desserts. Thanks.:)

Madcoco,

We ate there in May of 2002 and the menu was a la carte, however when we were there in December it was both buffet and a la carte. Since we are not big on buffets we just ordered off the menu. Our server did indicate that the buffet was just in a trial phase so I'm not sure if it still exists.

Kona Cafe in the Poly...rarely crowded, I've had excellent food there and killer coffee.

I have to agree with a few of the previous posts - Olivia's. But then I'd like to keep it a secret -- we ate there for the first time in December and it was the best dinner we had on the trip.

If you're looking for good "fast food" on your trip, a must for my family is Puck's Express at Downtown Disney. Great fire-brick pizzas, sandwiches AND mac & cheese!

Thanks for posting this question -- I enjoyed reading these responses, especially since we'll be staying at OKW -- might have to try Olivia's!

Yakitori House in Japan. It took a few trips before I even realized it was there. We went at lunch and it was uncrowded, food was good and lovely little garden area outside.

The Plaza Restaurant in the MK (not to be confused with the Plaza Pavillion) - a lot of people walk by thinking it is strictly an ice cream place. Good sandwiches, and burgers.

I don't care what anyone says, that little taco joint in Adventureland - something like Pirata y Perico - they have great fast food.
