Over the river and through the woods to Mickey's house we go: The Remix

Hi Lisa!:wave2:
I've followed your TRs for a while, but, as I am going into serious WDW withdrawal, I need a DisFix, and your reports read 'as if I am there'. LOVE to read you!

10 days sounds fabulous!!!

I'm so sad that we won't be going this year:sad1:... I keep trying but my DH also grew up in a family that didn't vacation, but he hasn't been 'won over' to taking an annual vacation. Its a fight to get him to concede to every other year. Of course with $ being so tight, I don't blame him, but I grew up in FL and we went to Disney EVERY YEAR since 1971!!! And still went on other vacations too. So this whole 'every other year' thing is a serious burden.:sad2:

But I'll get to live it through you and other wonderful Disers!

Thank you!

I'm here, I'm here :banana:. Fashionably late; even though I don't know what that would be on the Dis, but either way I'M HERE . I'm loving the PTR so far:thumbsup2.

I hope John has an easy transition to new meds; it can totally throw someone's body off when changing over from one regiment to another. I will keep him in my prayers that he has a smooth ride.

I'm glad we get to meet up with y'all again. It was so much fun last May!!

You know I was thinking; you need to ask your boss if you can post a pic of him on here. He is a BIG part of your Disney trips and it would be nice to put a face on him..:rotfl2:.

I am loving your trip report.

Growing up vacation for my husband was visits back to Kentucky to visit family. In my family vacation was the beach and FL., or maybe the mountains of N.C.. We visit my DH family in Kentucky and now Arkansas, but I let him know right up forth that is not vacation that is visiting family. I still need at least one vacation a year and Disney is my favorite vacation spot. I have promised our next vacation will include the beach, and I already regret taking days away from Disney.

I'm here. I need to go back and read more but I am glad you found John a new doctor. Hopefully the transition to new medications withh go as smooth as possible.

There's no such thing as being late on my pre-trip reports! Glad you're here!

Glad to have you joining in on my plans!

I am SOOOOO with you on the boss man's photo!!!!!!

Remember Brutus from the old Popeye cartoons? He reminds me of him except he's bald.

Welcome! We should know on the 10th whether or not there will be a change in his meds. I hope it goes well too.

Thank you so much! Oh a vacation is definitely not visiting family.:thumbsup2 I want to go somewhere that I am AWAY from extended family.

Better late than never I always say! I am so excited that we get to spend time together again!

I wish I had a picture of my boss to post. He reminds me of Brutus on the old Popeye cartoons.

So glad that you've joined in! I hate to hear that you won't be going on vacation this year. Maybe there's some place semi-local that you can go for a few days.

HI Lisa,
10 Nights sounds fantastic!! Lucky you. How wonderful Lacey will be joining you! She will always remember and treasure this 'last' vacation with her parents and brother..

Your so right, there is NO other place that will ever compare to Disney...we always debate...'where should we go on vacation....Vegas, Miami, Montreal... well, it always comes back to Disney...

My husband did not vacation much with his family either...I was so excited he fell in love with Disney on our Honeymoon.

Hey there! I am so happy that Lacey is coming along for one last hurah with the family!

I've done research on Disneyland, the Grand Canyon, Durango, Colorado, Hawaii and other places but we keep coming back to Walt Disney World too. It's actually cheaper for us to vacation at Disney than it is other places.

Loving all the plans so far, especially the being there 10 days. And I don't mind at all that you are a wordy woman. I enjoy the read!

I'm glad the new doctor seems to be good and having fresh ideas about how to treat John's epilepsy.

Busy is an understatement! But I like it because it really is making the time fly before I leave, which is in 16 days!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

My mom is more and more tired, but we knew it would happen. It's the side effect of her therapy, which they said would hit her atbout a month after she was done the therapy.

I'm glad you don't mind my wordiness. It's just how I am. If you ever met me in person, I'd talk your ears off.

Just 16 days! I am so happy for you!

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. The side effects of the treatments are horrible. I still pray for her.

Lisa I'm in! I can't believe your annual trip is getting so close. Great intro and start.:goodvibes So, no little taste of something different this year? CBR is great, I guess too hard to not spend all your nights there.;) I know you are stoked to have both the kids and Mama going along this year. Looking forward to all your plans.

Welcome aboard! No taste of a little something different. The more we talked about it, the more difficult the change seemed to become and the more unrelaxing (not sure if that's a word but I'm using it anyway) the extra day became.

I'm here!! I just got back from my first solo trip yesterday, and your TR was the first thread I went to (I'll post there too!).

Once I get my pics and thoughts organized, I'm going to attempt my first ever trip report...will post a link here if that's alright.

And yes - I did think of you and your family while I was there!

Glad that you're here! I would love to hear all about your trip! Feel free to post your link here.

Picking up from where I left off on our plans....May 24th: Our first driving day. As I said, we want to be on the Interstate and on our way to Disney by no later than 6:00 p.m. Normally, we stop at the McDonald's in Vicksburg, Mississippi and eat our food while on the road:

There will be gas stops and pit stops along the way. Normally, we hit the Florida Welcome Center near Pensacola around 11:30 p.m. or so:

SANY2350.jpg

This is when we will decide if we want to find a place to stay in Pensacola or, hopefully, decide to continue on to Crestview, Florida. I like to get as many miles behind us as we can so we if we're not too tired, we'll probably stop at the Jameson Inn in Crestview. We've stayed there the last two, maybe three years. We like to stay at Jameson's because they are always near a main highway, easy on and easy off, are clean and the price is pretty reasonable.

Obviously, the picture of the Jameson Inn was taken the next morning because we didn't arrive there until 1:00 a.m. last year!

Depending on the traffic and how many bathroom breaks we take, we should roll onto Disney property mid-afternoon.

It won't take us long before we are pulling into:

By the time we get to the Caribbean Beach Resort, our booties are tired and we are ready to walk around a while. A picture of Hunter and Mama standing by the car....giving their legs a while to get adjusted to standing instead of sitting. ;)

I am unsure if I will use online check-in this year since we have room only reservations and package reservations. I think I may just do regular check-in because I want to talk with a castmember to assure that our requests to be in the same room will be noted. Mama needs a downstairs room and we want to be in rooms next to each other too. I may change my mind and do online check-in and then call to make sure they have my notations. Either way, we'll walk into this beautiful lobby to check-in:

I am not going to put in any location request this year and hope that they put us in any village other than Martinique and Jamaica. Every time we have stayed at the CBR, those are the two villages we have been assigned to. That's not to say that we don't like those two villages. We just want to try something new.

The rest of the evening is free. I know me....I'll want to drop my bags and start exploring. The others may want to rest a while. Well, except for Hunter. He is just like me and likes to get out and start go-go-going as soon as soon as he possibly can. I know we'll get something to eat in the food court and do a little shopping in the store. Other than that, we have no plans.

**Up next: May 25th: The "extra" day.

Off to a great start on the actual "leaving on vacation" part of the trip. I remember the Jameson from your last TR.

Have you requested buildings in the past? Perhaps you should do the opposite of what you've done in the past and see what happens.

We like the Jameson Inn's. Never had a bad stay in one yet.

I haven't ever requested any buildings but have asked for downstairs and, once, I asked for any building in Jamaica. I think I'm doing like you said and not making a request for any village at all.

I started thinking about the description I gave of my boss.....is the big guy from Popeye's name Brutus or Bluto? Or is it neither or those?

l love your trip reports Lisa. I am glad you have starting one for your next trip. You have a great sense of humor. I too believe strongly in family vacations...with my kids as they grew up and now with my grandsons. We have been to WDW 14 times and are planning again for Feb 2012. I have a PTR started..."No men Allowed...." Please check it out and give me some pointers as it is my first trip report.

Once I get going I do not like stopping so I have to force myself! And I am like you upon arrival....drop the bags and go-go-go! I am at Disney World after all!! I do not want ANY grass to grow under my feet!! :goodvibes

Bluto- but let me tell you, I now have such an awesome mental picture of your boss that you don't even need to post a photo!! :rotfl:

I love your photos from your "driving" and arrival days. I am the same way you are- I just want to put everything in the room & go right out to a park or DtD.

I highly recommend the online check in. We did it in Feb. and you still meet with a CM but your packet is all done. We got all opur requests. Our room was not ready but my daughter's was and the CM said " I can't give you your room number yet but it ends in 01 and is next to your daughter". We went to her room and the mouskeepers wer in my room and I told them that was going to my room and they said they were almost done and they left 2 towel animals. That day waas my birthday and when we got back to the romm there was a Disney gift from my college roomate and a card from Disney with pictures etc. Nice surprises on my first day in my favorite place. It was my 65th and we had dinner at Chef Mickey's and Minnie sang to me. Fun fun fun!!!!

I remember your rainy drive last year! And did we already discuss that fact that Hunter and Isaiah are only 5 days apart in age? Isaiah's 14th is on May 29th!

Like you...I'm ready to go, go, go as soon as we arrive. NO time to waste people...we are on VACATION!!! :cool1:

Same here. We should arive around noon or 1:00 and I know at least my aunt it going to want to rest, but I'm going to one of the parks. :)
