Over the river and through the FUN!

What a fun update! I too found the character interaction at LTT to be some of the best...what a shame they decided to stop it. It was a pretty good meal too! And you know, I think if you look up cute in the dictionary, you'll see Brookyln's pictures right underneath! :) It's nice to see your family having a nice time together! Thanks for sharing!

It was a fun evening! It does seem like maybe they should keep some character meals here for those who still want them. They could alternate nights of character/non-character meals or something. I'm just glad we got to do it before it ended.

Oh my gosh, Davy Jones is going to be there when you go!!! I used to love to watch The Monkee's!!

Thank you, I really don't think I could stand to go to that cemetary again!!!! :lmao:

I watched the Monkees, too. I stayed in the same hotel as they were staying in once when I was young. We never saw them, but the buzz about the building is that they were there. It was on one of our Florida trips with some extended family, but I don't remember what beach we were at. I was young, so all I cared about was that there was a beach and a pool! It was before they were big, so we really didn't think so much about it until we later saw that were getting popular.

Like I said, I was no huge Davy Jones fan, although I did think he was cute. I usually think of the Brady Bunch episode when I think of him. How is it that stars just always seemed to find their way into the Brady living room?

Whether I'm interested in any TV or movie personality or not, I think if they're right there to see in person, you might as well see them just to say you did. Just like with the Candlelight Processional - I 'don't know diddly' (a southern term, I believe) about Rita Moreno or John O'Hurley, but it was still cool to see them in person just because they were there. I don't really know if Kay was into The Monkees or not. If she was, then we might stay for the whole concert, but if not, we'll probably listen to two or three songs, get a few pictures, and then move on.

I would have said 'skeedaddle', but that have been a bit too Granny Clampett for some of our northern friends! :)

That meal looked very yummy!

The roast was melt-in-your-mouth tender and good. We all thought that was the best item on the menu. The cobbler was really good, too, so I hate that the others missed out.

this is so cute!

of course she did. she's a smart lady! ;)

Brooklynn's meal got interrupted many times for characters here. They just came one right after the other.

I wasn't sure how Jarvis would feel about characters, but he was great. He seemed to have fun with it. You never know how weird your friends are going to think you are when they find out you pay big bucks to eat with characters!

Looks like you had a fun and yummy meal! The characters look neat all dressed up. I'm glad we had a change to eat there in 2003.

Me, too. I was so glad we got that reservation before it ended. I'm learning that if Disney is doing something now, give it a try before it goes away! I think these pictures will become more special as the years go by just because those cute character outfits are no longer around. In my mind, I think reservations would drop off here, but I guess Disney knows better than I do.

That looks SO yummy--I could definitely go for some of that roast beef and green beans right now. I'm so sad that it's not a character meal anymore; I would have liked to get my mom to add it as an ADR, but we mostly liked going for the characters.

I cracked up at your comment about Trent, even though I think he looks fine. :rotfl:

At least you got to go before it ended, right? You would have missed it this time, anyway. I think it ended at the beginning of January.

Trent looks really nice when he's clean shaven and has on his khakis and a collared shirt, I think, but he can look like a mountain man when he gets scruffy. I don't mind a couple of days worth of scruff, but I don't like it to get long. I've never cared for facial hair on men, but I know a lot of them like it and a lot of women like it. A couple of days is good, but after that, I start fussing at him to find the razor!

Hey Memom, Let me introduce myself. I live next door in Arkansas, about 45
minutes from Memphis. I have been lurking around the trip report boards for
a couple of years and always look foward to reading about your trips.
I just want you to know how much I enjoy reading about your trips and your
photos are wonderful. I will be welcoming my first grandchild in April and can't
wait until I can share a trip to Disney with him.
This is my family
sil-Matt dd-Samantha dd-Sarah dil-Katy ds-Scott

Sorry, the photo is so small, I'm not very handy with photobucket.

Welcom to our group! I'm glad you've been enjoying the reports and pictures. I can't see your photobucket picture this morning, though, so I can't see you guys. Maybe you can work on it again when you have time.

We went to Little Rock when we first picked up Drew from the Memphis airport many years ago. At the time, Nashville was not an international airport, so his flight was from Seoul to LA and then LA to Memphis. We knew another family that had gotten their baby girl from Korea just a few months earlier, so the day after we got Drew, we just drove over to Little Rock to see them for a while before we drove back to Nashville. Other than that, I've been to Arkansas for church youth group things, and that's about it. You'll have to share more of your fine state with us as you join in. Now that you've 'talked', you have to join in more often. Make yourself at home!

Congratulations on your new baby, too! You are going to go nuts over him! They are great just to cuddle with and love on when they are tiny, but as they grow, they just become more and more fun! Brooklynn and I played party kitchen yesterday for a while, and she made me the nicest bologna, cheese, lettuce, tomato, peanut butter, jelly and potato chip concoction with her plastic food! It was delicious! Her expressions were so cute as she watched me chomp away on all of it. We read books and watched Little Mermaid (I know you are all surprised) and Lion King II - Simba's Pride. She is at the questioning stage right now.

Why Simba do that?
Where his mommy go?
What Pummba said?
What she (Ariel) doing?
Dat shark goin' to get Flounder?
(She very well knows he is not, She has seen this movie once or twice or seven hundred times before!!!)
Ariel goin' to be in big trouble! (spoken when Ariel fails to show up at her concert)

You are going to love sharing Disney World with him. Just watching those little eyes try to take it all in and seeing the smiles is just too awesome for words. I'll just say, you will love it more than ever with him along!

MeMom.....I had a dream about you and Jill and Brooklyn..It was us meeting up outside of Rainforest Cafe.:rotfl:

That's funny! I imagine that dream will happen in real life someday - right there at the hippo! :) We met Erica over at Opry Mills by the carousel the first time we met her.

We bought that mug last time we were there. They are so fun!

Now that I look back at the menu, I see that it says nineteen dollars with the drink. I didn't pay any attention to that at first. I really just forgot all about asking because I was all caught up in the family, food, and fun of the day. I like having Disney mugs at home, too. We've got a bunch of resort mugs and holiday mugs to remind us of good times past! I really wiah they'd go back to resort specific mugs, too, but now that they've gone generic with them, I'm not getting my hopes up. They could even keep the generic ones for the drink deal but have some regular cups (resort ones) you could buy in the gift shop that you could bring home as souvenirs.

Good Morning MeMom. I think it is wonderful that you got to spend some time with your girls this week.

Love the LTT pictures. It looks like you had a lot of fun. And all that food................yummy.

We've never eaten at LTT and I didn't think we ever would. I've heard mixed reviews about the food and now with the characters gone - well, just hadn't really planned on going. But, the theming of the restaurant looks really good and that food looked right up my alley! Might have to give it a go sometime. :thumbsup2

Chip and Brooklyn dancing is just great!!!

I am so sad that the characters are no longer there -- we never got a chance to eat there :(.

IMG_0527.jpg

That got her all stirred up!

:rotfl2: You crack me up MeMom!

Oh, I wish we had made it here for dinner. We went for lunch, no characters and the cheeseburger I had was only eh. This looks delicious!

of course she did. she's a smart lady! ;)

I was gonna say it too but didn't want to start something again :goodvibes But she is single...

So you did not have school Friday due to cold... neither did we! It was a treat since our hot water heater was not working! 4 Day weeks are the best- and two weeks in a row at that!

Have a great weekend! I wish we could have had a meal at LTT before the characters left. We ate there when Hannah was really little but now I know they would love it!

Happy Saturday! A day off, yeah! :wave2:

What a sweet daughter you have to come visit, spur of the moment and surprize you. I'm sure it made your crummy day a lot better. I just love that she did that for you, and you in turn went to see her. Brooklynn is lucky to have both of you. (I've had plenty of plastic food meals too, aren't they the best. :) )

Your Thanksgiving meal looked very good, I enjoyed seeing all the characters and thier costumes. I guess I've missed out on seeing it for myself. It just makes your pics that more special.

I understand your comments about Trent, my DS will sometimes dress so 'bummy', and not care what he looks like at all. He has very nice clothes and he will choose to wear the weirdest things. I prefer him to match and he tells me "it's so uncool to be matchy-matchy mom". :confused3
I'm teaching him a lesson right now. He spent the money I gave him for a haircut, so I'm making him wait awhile until I give him some more money. It's killing him, but he has to learn.
In the end if a guy is good looking, which your son is, he can pull off any look, even scruffy. I prefer a clean shaven man myself too, but many women like a little scruf. ;)

Awww, you actually got a day off because it was cold, I could only wish that would happen to me. It was crazy cold here this past week. (-30 to -37oC). The wind was so bad it burned your face. Thats probably why I was so tired this week and slept alot...I was hibernating from the cold. LOL. I do feel lucky though, some Canadians had it so much worse. Our kids still go to school, but they don't go out for recesses.

Just saying :wave2: and letting you know we are not quite frozen yet. School has not been canceled here but we had a Math teacher session yesterday and it was heavenly to have an entire hour and a half to eat lunch and talk to "big people".

Monday was my down day this past week. Unexpected pick-me-ups are a total joy. Yay for a surprise visit from two of your fav people.

Great pics of LTT!

I'm pretty north compared to Tennessee but I often say "skeedaddle"!! :) The clampett's were always a big hit in our household! Granted, my family went on a lot of road trips to TN! Between the Grand Ole Opry, Memphis and Graceland....I think my daddy thought he was an honorary southerner! :)

This is cracking me up! You guys were there with 2 good looking guys! And yes that is a very good list to go with the 'look' :thumbsup2

How do Trent and Jarvis know each other?

Sorry if I missed that somewhere I was in a hurry to catch up and haven't read all the banter along the way :coffee:

Every time I see this float, I am grateful that there was a Walt Disney and that he started all of this. Just think of all the people we know and all the good times we have had because of what he started.

IMG_0477.jpg

I also love this float and obviously a great one to start this parade with!

AWESOME picture!! :thumbsup2

Until our Sept trip I think I had seen this entire parade in parts but had never watched the whole thing all together. These are great pictures and fun to re-live again in my favorite place!:goodvibes

Super exciting news! I get the internet on Saturday. You guys will be my first stop when I log on for the first time.

Woooooo Hoooooooo it's Saturday!!!
I'm so excited for you! :yay:

I went and got my kids from lunch, finished the rest of my school day, and right at the end of the day, I was shocked beyond belief to see Jill and Brooklynn standing at my classroom door! She said I sounded like I needed a pick-me-up, and a visit from them was the perfect one! I couldn't have been more excited! That was totally unexpected. Totally unexpected and much, much, much appreciated!

Soooooo SWEET!!! :goodvibes What an awesome thing to do!
I just love surprises!

princess: love it!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I thought of you yesterday when you guys were out of school! I thought it was a little strange and was very happy for some I knew were excited not to work or have their kiddos at home. But I was also worried about the mama's that must get to work and are stressing about what to do with little Rufus

But I hope you had a wonderful day and I assume you are off on Monday too :cheer2:

Okay Memom let me try again with the photo. I added it to my siggy.
We are closer to Memphis so we fly out of Memphis when we go to Disney it
is a major hub for Northwest.
We haven't been to Nashville since Opryland closed.
I didn't get to experince Disney with my children until my youngest was 8, so
I can't wait to see it through my new grandbaby's eye's. Ty is due to arrive
April 18th. The company I worked at for 17 years went out of bussiness, so I guess I will be spending plenty of time with him while his Mommy works.
I would like to get in a trip this year since we skipped last year to go to Destin.
Maybe me and hubby before Ty arrives?

Good Morning MeMom. I think it is wonderful that you got to spend some time with your girls this week.

Love the LTT pictures. It looks like you had a lot of fun. And all that food................yummy.

It was a great week!

We enjoyed a good meal and good company at Liberty Tree. I was pleased. It came with a nice little price tag, though, ringing in at $175.00. I would never do that out here in the real world!

We've never eaten at LTT and I didn't think we ever would. I've heard mixed reviews about the food and now with the characters gone - well, just hadn't really planned on going. But, the theming of the restaurant looks really good and that food looked right up my alley! Might have to give it a go sometime. :thumbsup2

The atmosphere and decor was very comfortable - just the way we like things! There's plenty of food, too, so your guys will not go hungry! Just don't forget to stick around for dessert, because it was good!

Chip and Brooklyn dancing is just great!!!

I am so sad that the characters are no longer there -- we never got a chance to eat there :(.

With Disney, you've gotta do it while it's there, before it becomes extinct! :)

:rotfl2: You crack me up MeMom!

I was gonna say it too but didn't want to start something again :goodvibes But she is single...

I'll have to check out the lunch menu sometime.

I'll admit that the guys thought Minnie was cute, but they speculated at how cute she might be under that big mouse head, too. (After she left, of course.)

We were shocked and happy to hear the announcement of no school. The school nurse saw me in the hall and asked me if I was going to Disney World, since we had four days off!

I'm glad we got in when we did. I'm sure we'll treasure those pictures in years to come. Maybe someday they will bring characters back there.

Happy Saturday! A day off, yeah! :wave2:

Our kids still go to school, but they don't go out for recesses.

It did work out well, especially since John was gone this week. I was happy to be her company while he was gone.

I don't mind a little scruff. I think it makes them look manly, but there's a line, and when he crosses it, I start complaining. But when he's relatively clean shaven and has on a nice pair of pants or jeans and a pretty Abercrombie shirt, he is quite a handsome young man, if I do say so myself.

Northeners probably have a good time laughing at us and how we handle cold weather! It hurt my skin just to be out putting groceries into the car this morning. I'm glad kids didn't have to wait at bus stops. We're supposed to head back to the 20s-40s starting tomorrow morning, I think.

Just saying :wave2: and letting you know we are not quite frozen yet. School has not been canceled here but we had a Math teacher session yesterday and it was heavenly to have an entire hour and a half to eat lunch and talk to "big people".

Great pics of LTT!

Yeah, because a teacher rarely gets 15 minutes for lunch, much less over an hour!

I'm sorry to hear you had a down day. I hope it's all better now! You should have called Dad and he could've dropped in midday with flowers for his best girl. I'm sure his students wouldn't have minded cancelling class for a good cause! :goodvibes

I wonder if people think the Clampetts are representative of most Tennesseans. That would be funny! I've seen some that are pretty close, I can tell you, but for the most part, we live in normal houses and have normal jobs and wear normal clothes.

I've got to get busy cooking up my possum stew for supper...

Now, where did that little dickens get off to???

I've never been to Graceland. I've seen it from the outside several times. I'd like to go in just to see how eccentric Elvis was.

I've been to the Grand Old Opry a few times, but it's been years. I went with friends from church to see another church friend and his family play there. They were The Carlisles. The dad was Jumpin' Bill Carlisle, and his son's family went to our church. We went backstage and saw all the comings and goings. I remember being there the first night Ronnie McDowell sang that big Elvis song, The King is Gone. I don't know why that stands out to me, but I guess it was just because he was standing there in the group with us talking and I didn't know who he was. We'd been hearing that song all over the place, of course, and then they called a name and he walked out on stage.

This is cracking me up! You guys were there with 2 good looking guys! And yes that is a very good list to go with the 'look' :thumbsup2

Trent is such a fun guy and has a quick wit. People who don't know him well at first don't believe that he's a good student, too. They figure anybody as crazy as he is was just a goof-off class clown, but he really was an honor student. When he got in college, he used to just shake his head at people who were paying big bucks to go to school who were constantly flunking classes.

Trent and Jarvis met at the Y, I think. They're work out buddies. They are all into muscles and sports. And food. They love to eat! There's a small group of guys that work out together and keep each other accountable. Jarvis is some kind of engineer, but I'm not exactly sure what he does or who he works for. I don't know if he grew up around here or if he's a transplant through college or job or something. I guess I should ask questions sometime.

I like the parades. You get to see so many characters in one short time.

I know calling school off was probably a hardship on many. I'm sure lots of grandmas and friends were called upon for babysitting favors yesterday.

**********************

It's nice to know that Jill has the internet at home now. She will love being able to check in much more often. John is updating all of their computer stuff this afternoon while she goes to the store, but she'll probably get to spend some time DISing tonight.

I can't wait to read pooksma's reply to this comment. :rotfl:

MeMom, loved the LTT pics. We had dinner there a couple of trips ago. It was a great meal with lots of characters. Too bad they stopped the characters.

The warning sign at POTC, has that always been there? I don't remember it.

I think a lot of people haven't come to Nashville since Opryland closed!

Your baby will be here about the same time as ours. Two new babies to add to the group. Yay us!!!

Maybe your single daughter should meet my single son! ;)

A mom and dad only trip would be great. Maybe you could go during the Flower and Garden Festival. You're running out of time. Those babies will be here soon!

pixiedust: BrooklynnsMommy pixiedust: has internet and can now join in whenever she wants!

Glad you are comfortable. :)

I'm so happy for her. She has wanted this for a long time. It'll be a nice break/escape for her.

Good morning all. I'm writing from the comfort of my own home. Gotta go finish lunch.

Hi, Jill!

I can't wait to read pooksma's reply to this comment. :rotfl:

The warning sign at POTC, has that always been there? I don't remember it.

I'm not sure about that sign, now that you mention it. It could be new. I find new things every time I go, so I really don't know. Maybe someone who is more of an expert on the Pirates ride can tell us. I like it, but it's not like one of my all-time favorites. I ride it mostly because everyone else wants to.

Woohoo!!! That is beyond awesome, Jill!!! ::yes::

Now maybe I'll get to see more frequent pictures of Brooklynn through the week when she pops in.

I'll admit that the guys thought Minnie was cute, but they speculated at how cute she might be under that big mouse head, too. (After she left, of course.)

HA! :rotfl2: That's too funny!

Northeners probably have a good time laughing at us and how we handle cold weather! It hurt my skin just to be out putting groceries into the car this morning. I'm glad kids didn't have to wait at bus stops. We're supposed to head back to the 20s-40s starting tomorrow morning, I think.

Oh, we make fun of fellow Northeners! It's ridiculous how many people flood my store when there's a prediction of snow, like today and last weekend. It's pretty cold right now, but it's not windy. I don't mind the cold, but I HATE the wind that sometimes accompanies the cold. :faint:

After dinner, we decided that we'd maybe ride one ride together before splitting up.

I think it was Jill who decided we'd ride Pirates.

So does anyone know if this is a new sign?
Declansdad asked, but I'm really not sure.

IMG_0575.jpg

After the ride, Jarvis decided to really get into the spirit.

IMG_0577.jpg

Then everyone else joined in.

IMG_0001.jpg

After that, I think Trent and Jarvis headed to a mountain. If I remember right, I think they had gotten Fastpasses for Splash or Big Thunder or maybe Space Mountain, so they headed off to do that.

The rest of us went toward the castle. These pictures tell me that I stayed there (duh), but it seems like Jill, John, and Brooklynn were tried and decided to go on back to the room. She can correct me if I am wrong.

Unless you take detailed notes, some things just get blurry.

More than just my pictures, that is.

Since I have no pictures of Brooklynn in the coming ones, I am thinking I am right, though.

The gang was having a hard time deciding how the castle should be decorated for Christmas.

IMG_0008.jpg

Fairy Godmother heard the fussing and came out to see what was going on.

IMG_0009.jpg

It was decided that Cinderella would choose how the castle was decorated, since it was her castle, you know!

IMG_0018.jpg

IMG_0010.jpg

I was pretty far back, as you can tell.
I'll use that as my excuse for bad pictures.

The lighting began.

It was just beautiful, and Erica will back me up, as will many others of you; if you have not seen it in person, you really should make plans to do so!
