cottage cheese?! No no, cheese curds! Little chunks of cheese! No cottage cheese! Blech! And to be honest I am a Canadian who isn't a huge fan of poutine. I like fries with gravy, or fries with cheese, but not all together! I also don't like smarties or ketchup chips! I'll just stick with my maple syrup, Timmies, and some Cadbury chocolate! No no no cottage cheese!
I can't get past the fries and gravy, so it really doesn't matter what's on it from there! Isn't it funny how people just grow up liking different things because it is presented to them all of their lives? I hear of all kind of crazy things people eat in the south, too, and I can get just as grossed out. I do not ever care to eat pigs' feet, for example, or chittlins. Some of my students are grossed out by the fact that I have broccoli on my menus weekly, and that I sometimes put cheese on it! A lot of it is just a matter of what we're accustomed to as we grow up.
Long, long ago, I was at the home of some of my cousins, and their mother was peeling potatoes. The two boys were eating the raw shreds of the peelings. It was normal for them apparently, but it wasn't for me, so I thought it was very strange and very gross. I often think of them now when I peel potatoes, and I have no desire to reach down to grab a raw peeling and eat it to see what their delight was all about.
I've seen a show advertised on Travel Channel where some guy goes all over the world eating all sort of slimy, nasty, abnormal things that people consider delicacies. I have only seen it advertised, but you will not catch me watching it - ever!
You'll be there just a month after me, but I can keep an eye out for them and let you know if they are on sale. Or I could pick one up for you if they are, if you like.
Poutine does sound kinda...different? I wanted to try it when we were in New Brunswick a couple of years ago, but I never did. I think that my dad really likes it, but he eats pretty much anything. There was a candy bar called Aero up there that I really loved and wanted to stock up on before we left.
I love IASW. I remember Kailyn loving it when she was little, too. She and my mom and I still love it.
I doubt they will have them next month, but if you happen to see them for cheap, then yeah, I'd like to have at least one, maybe more. Let me know if you see them, and we'll go from there. I think I might have a better chance right after Christmas next year, since we'll be there for New Year's weekend.
Let me know where to send you some
BTW- I will bring the fiddleheads. Do you guys know what I'm talking about?
I looked up fiddleheads, too. I might give those a one bite try. How do you fix them? Are they slimy when you cook them? I don't do slimy stuff.
Thanks
sunny_stace for clearing up the "cottage cheese" in poutine, YUCK! The only place I want my cottage cheese is in lasagna. YUM!
Surely, Americans must know what cheese curds are?
megablocks I'll trade you a case of Aero for just one of those plates...
That's the chocolate bar with Bubbles, oh so good.
MeMom have a wonderful day back at work.
What does an Aero have in it?
Wonderful and
two week Christmas break seem to go together so much better than
wonderful and
work, but I do appreciate the kind thoughts for the week ahead. I will need them, especially tomorrow when the kids come back.
AWww, cute pictures!! I wish I had saw those plates and glasses!! I would have came home with some!
I was trying not to spend too much money. If I hadn't already had a balance on my CC when I went down there, I would have gotten some. Next year, I'm going down with a zero balance, so I'll be able to buy some of those with a clear conscience.
SO pretty!!
I did get to see both NYE sets of fireworks. They were great. Definitely made me wish I was there. On the 31st we watched it at my neighbors house and they thought it was pretty cool too. Everyone liked the number fireworks. What are they going to come up with next???
That's making me HUNGRY!!!
I
mine!! I really planned to take a pic of mine and post here and on our TR but haven't gotten around to it. But thank you again!
SO SWEET!! Thank you!
Hey Jill!!
I hope you are doing well
. My neighbor just had her little girl on the 2nd and I got to keep Rylee which is just a little older than Brooklynn while she went to the hospital to have Katelyn. She just came home today and I got to go see her for a min
. She is so cute! And Rylee and I had SO much fun Friday night....she was AWESOME...from 4:30 until a late bedtime for her!
Was very fun to see some of your Christmas pics and you look great!!
Keep us updated! I hope you get your internet soon
Yea one good thing about myself is if I ever do have little ones I've got most Disney things memorized so I can just enjoy their expressions!!
Last night was the last night for the webcam. It was great watching Wishes from the Poly beach. That couple was just so generous. Dave must easily be a millionaire with all that he has and does, yet he was so down-to-earth and kind. They were sad last night because they're returning to 18 degree weather today.
Disney World will take on a whole new level of fun and excitement when you take your own child!
Ah, One of those songs that gets stuck in ur head, no matter how hard u try to get it out
Dont u just love it?
Look what my wonderful boyfriend bought for me at the disney store
oh my goodness, our heater broke tonight...right now its like 61 degrees inside and 14 degrees outside...not cool (no pun intended)
I teach the song to my school kids, because we use music and poetry to teach reading fluency. They love it, and I love getting to hear it!
Nice present from the boyfriend. Now that you've got him thinking Disney, start throwing in trip hints.
So sorry about your heater. Mine is old, and for the last three winters I have wondered if it would make it. I won't be surprised when mine plays out, but I'm grateful that it has lasted as long as it has. It's not nearly as cold here as where you are, though.
Back to reality MeMom... so lucky to not have students. I am dreading the long haul ahead! Looking forward to cheerful WDW pics to remind me why I go to work... so we can go in 2010!
Yeah, the next about twelve weeks will be grueling as we prepare for TCAP. I do the same thing - I tell myself I am working so that I can go have fun.
And eat and have a house and a car, of course.
I hope you all have a Magical Monday! Mine will be not so magical with the going back to work and all, but I'll manage to sneak a few magical moments into it, I'm sure. For one thing, I'm going to go turn the Poly cam on now and watch the sunrise at Poly beach on this last morning that the camera is up. That's a good way to start the day.
Have a good one, everybody!
