Out of State Disneyland Trip Planning Thread

I'm fully in wait and see mode.... as soon as they make an announcement I'll book something. We have no trips anywhere planned until October so I'm wide open all summer... surely SOMETHING would work even if I take the wait and see approach.

Good news on the June 15th date!

California’s Secretary of Health and Human Services Dr. Mark Ghaly said Tuesday that the state is on track to drop the longstanding tier restrictions that have limited capacity at businesses.

“On June 15, the color-coded tier system … will no longer be in place,” he said. More specifically, Ghaly added, “Certain things like capacity limits will no longer be in place in California cities.”

There is an interesting line in there about vaccinations. "capacity restrictions on movie theaters, concert venues and theme parks will be eliminated, though some may require attendees to show proof of vaccination."

Masking will continue, as will social distancing. Add to it, the unions made agreements with Disney with regards to how the employees will be allowed to return. I personally doubt capacity will go above 45% thru the summer, and likely thru the end of the year.

I posted it mainly for the out of state reference... since this is our trip planning board. 😁 Things are looking positive!

I agree, I don't think anyone (or at least... any of us here lol) expects masks and capacity limits to vanish on June 15th.

I agree, things are looking better for OOS visitors. I'm just overly cautious until it is actually announced.

Finally decided on a hotel... just picked purely out of convenience and went with the Tropicana. I just wonder if ART will be a mess once the hotels start picking up again with reduced capacity. They weren't the most reliable to begin with.

Never stayed there but I don't see us utilizing the hotel a lot... I'm gonna be inside Disneyland every minute I can be. Just sit in New Orleans Square with my mint julep... that's all I dream about. 😍

Fingers crossed for more dining options opening up though. Looking through the app and seeing so many closed options is rough!

Sounding better and better for OOS. The Governor was talking about masks but this is the first time I’ve seen him acknowledge those from out of state coming. I expect he will want masks in theme parks:

California will effectively end its mask mandate next month when it fully reopens its economy after more than a year of Covid-19 restrictions, Gov. Gavin Newsom said.

In an on-camera interview with KTTV Los Angeles reporter Elex Michaelson posted on Twitter, the governor was asked, “Are we looking at masks after June 15?”
“No. Only in those settings that are indoor – only in those massively large settings where people around the world, not just around the country, are convening, and when people are mixing in real dense spaces,” Newsom replied. “Otherwise, we’ll make guidance recommendations, but no mandates and no restrictions on businesses large and small.”
California currently requires the use of masks in indoor settings outside of one’s home, including on public transportation, regardless of vaccination status. However, fully vaccinated people are not required to wear masks outdoors, except when attending crowded events.

Last month, state health officials announced the June 15 target date to fully reopen the state amid falling Covid-19 infection rates and low hospitalizations, shelving its color-coded tier system that dictates reopening by county based on infection rates.

California's mask mandate, however, would remain in place at least "in the short run," Newsom said at the time.

Spokespersons for the governor’s office and California Department of Public Health did not respond to CNN requests for comment Wednesday.

Hi! First time Disneyland visitor here!

We have a trip booked to Hawaii in early February, and have decided to stop in Disneyland for a few days to make the flight situation more manageable (we're from CT). Anxiously waiting for 2022 resort packages to be available (currently they go out to very early January).

Remember, there is no mask mandate at all in FL, and Disney requires masks. The Unions made it mandatory for employee safety and Disney will enforce it on their property.

Oh absolutely. I think the state will insist on it. I read the Governor’s statement as, “we will allow out of state and international visitors to places like theme parks, but require masks.” Disney would happily accept that deal.

Well I sure didn't plan things well. I fly home on June 9. 😭 I looked into moving things but it just won't work for a lot of reasons one of them being there's no park reservation availability right now. Oh well..... I'll still get retail therapy at World of Disney and the various other shops and treats from Marceline's along with at least being able to dine at GCH.

I am confused. When I am finally able to make reservations at the GCH, will I also be able to buy park tickets at the same time? I plan on going in the summer of 2022. Or do I make hotel reservations and then hope I can get park tickets?

We're flying down into SNA tomorrow night for three nights at VGC. We won't be able to enter the parks, but just being there will be wonderful. We're going to be flying to Orlando in 3 weeks for a 16 night stay (13 at WDW, 3 at UO), so we'll get our park fix then.

We also have VGC reservations in September and December. And just yesterday I got an email from UT saying they had discounted rates for Paradise Pier so I impulsively made a reservation for early August, for the last weekend before school starts. I don't think I can wait until late September to experience Avengers Campus!

I it's probably wishful thinking, but I'm hoping once the tiers are retired and out of state visitors are officially allowed, Disneyland will announce their own version of Boo Bash that we can attend in September.

I'm starting to look into dining options. I may not be permitted to make park reservations, but nobody's said anything about dining, right? Especially DTD and hotel restaurants.

Right, I think you're fine. I plan on making mine right at the 60 day mark- especially since those will likely fill up so quickly.

Such promising news! If any disagree that's fine but remember this thread is for trip planning for out of state folks- not debates. Let's keep it somewhat focused so it doesn't go off the rails. There's plenty of other threads discussing this on the DIS for debates to take place.

I would love to see Carnation Cafe open. So far we're planning on Blue Bayou and Lamplight Lounge (as our traditions) but we always do Carnation Cafe too. Hopefully it won't stay closed too long...

We're flying into SNA and I keep reading people's reports on wild Uber prices... Anyone else looked into this? We could just go with a shuttle service too.

I’m excited for out of state guests to come visit Disneyland and DCA! It’s about time.

We live in South OC and have used this car service to take us back at forth to DLR events. When I asked a few weeks ago for a quote they were pretty similar to Uber/Lyft rates BUT much more reliable, as you lock in your rate, time, date, etc. (also much nicer cars and service) https://yelp.to/gzNINlHeegb

My friends and I have tried to use Lyft a few times to go up to DTD and we can’t even get someone to pick us up. That hasn’t been uncommon during busy times. Hopefully that is evolving with everything else these days.
