out of pocket dining sticker shock

I'm going to move this to the restaurant board.

If characters are a must, also consider breakfast reservations, and CS dinners. CS dinners can also give you more flexibility on desserts/snacks afterwards.

I would drop Garden Grill and add either Chef Mickey's or O'hana - Breakfast is the cheapest character meal so that might save you some money if you move to one of those. Wolfgang Pucks in DTD has huge meals (even on the kid's menu) so that is always on our list.

Good Luck!

Unless your kids are diehard Pooh fans, drop Crystal Palace. And unless your family are adventurous eaters, Boma would not be for you.
Honestly, you could have a wonderful time without any table service restaurants. If I had to pay oop for them, we wouldn't do them. It's just too pricey, loud and time consuming.

We didn't like Boma's dinner buffet - carved meats were dry, ribs were tough, etc. I wouldn't recommend paying OOP for it.

If you want to keep your room discount & still save on food, is off site dining a consideration? Would definitely be much cheaper & some is better than some Disney food.
