out of pocket and dining plan combined

I have a few dining questions for you experts! We are travelling with another family. When we dine together (9 of us), can they pay out of pocket for their meal while ours is covered with the disney dining plan?
Kind of the same question, but if we take their kids for them on night with us for dinner, we can pay cash for their kids, but still charge our meals on the disney dining plan?

In short the answer is yes to all your questions. I do believe what they do is A) for your friends they would have a separate bill from you. B) If you take your friends kids, then it would be on one bill, all of the dining plan meals would be deducted from the total and you just pay the remainder of the bill with cash.

The same thing applies in both of your scenarios. Let the server know when your order your meals that one group is on the DDP and the other is paying OOP. The only difference in the second scenario is that you will be paying OOP for your friends children, and with the DP for your own family.

They will split the bill-just let them know when you sit down. However, you should know that they are going to charge both parties an automatic gratuity (18% I think) at the bottom of your bill because you have so many people.

We did this last year with my family who was not on DDP and we were. They paid cash separately, it wasn't an issue at all. Also, our 2 yr old at the time couldn't get DDP so we always had to pay cash for her food.
