Our un-magical Day

This is a rant people. Why the need for snarky, negative comments. If you don't like the post don't read it.

It's an over-the-top rant complaining about things that for the most part could've been avoided if she'd simply done a little research, not to mention the fact that she's displaying an amazing sense of entitlement. Plus, she claims to have been to WDW 20 times yet shows an incredible lack of knowledge as to how certain things have been for a long time.

Wow! OP, seriously, you sound like a spoiled brat that expects everything your way. If you hate it that much, don't go! It's not for everyone. Universal is right down the road :-)

And she's in Philadelphia based on one of her responses. She didn't have the time to do any research between here and there? She made it sound like she was local. Oh, but wait. Her DH has said on here planning shouldn't be necessary.

She responded to her own complaint using two different user names than the one that she posted the complaint under, and yet made it completely obvious in the two replies that it was she who was responding. How many different places is she going to post this? And at what point will she realize that no matter how many different places she posts it, she is getting the same general response, i.e. do some research before going on vacation.

I've recently come back from WDW where we went for my birthday. We have been the last 4 years (for my birthday). This year was the first time we'd stayed on site and had the DDP, so it was our first experience of booking a TS meal every day.

I have to admit that we were late for half our ADRs - only one of which was my fault: the first time it was because my mobility scooter died in the rain halfway round World Showcase. The CMs couldn't have been more helpful: not only we were given new rain ponchos (as both ours had ripped) but she offered me a wheelchair to get to Coral Reef for our ADR and tried ringing ahead to tell them we were unavoidably delayed. We got there in the end, but about 35 minutes late. There was NO question of us missing our ADR because we were late. I don't know whether it was them trying to make things better or pure luck, but we had the best experience there: we were sat by a tank and had great service all night. There was even a wheelchair waiting for me when we came out (not that I needed it), but it was lovey of them to have arranged it.

The rest of the time was because the Disney transport just never showed up at our resort! That was hardly our fault! It didn't matter where we were going: we saw buses for every other park except the one we needed every single time. The worst was getting to DTD for our ADR at Raglan Road. Total and utter nightmare! Nearly 30 minutes for a DTD bus and then such horrendous traffic that we ended up being 40 minutes late (Pleasure Beach is second stop and it was awful getting there). I'd have driven if there'd been somewhere there to park!

But again, we were never turned away from our ADRs or told we'd have to wait or even that we'd have to pay the $10 fee. Every time it was 'That's fine, ma'am'. I'm sure it's down to your demeanour when you present yourself.

Going back to birthday badges, I always wear one, and always get the 'happy birthday!' calls. That's all you do seem to get these days, though. In 2011 (my 50th birthday trip) I was given a free dessert, and I think a free drink was slipped into our family's meal order, but that's it. We got the odd little bit of pixie dust such as being given FPs or asked if we wanted to go round again on a ride - or even being picked out verbally, but the days of guaranteed freebies are long gone.

I don't know how genuine OP is, but when I read her first reply and saw that she referred to all of her daughters as princesses and her son as a prince, my first response was 'really??' Sad, or what.

And for the record - as most of us know - you NEVER pay for fast passes or special treatment at Disney: they just don't do that. Universal make you pay for your FoTL passes. Sure, you get a free card each when you stay there - but their hotels are so overpriced anyway, that you're paying for it indirectly.

And as for Disney food being the most expensive ... seriously? Have you seen the price of an average meal at Universal these days?! ... and don't worry about the lack of McD fries - McD are vile at the best of times!!

TA's are constantly updated with all changes before the public knows. So none of this should have been a surprise!

Last June while we were waiting for our name to be called at BOG, it was entertaining to see the sheer number of people that just wandered up to the podium to ask to be seated. Very friendly etc but CLUELESS that this was the hottest ticket in town. One family was upset as how could they possibly know where they were going to be 180 days out let alone eat, etc etc. but they were very politely told they were overbooked etc. and they were welcome to wait but it would be over an hour. In the blazing heat this family sat there opting to wait....the CMs told me happens ALL the time. People see a castle, a sign, "hey lets eat here..."....I just don't understand....

Ha ha. The frownie face sucked me in too!!! I was sorta on board at first because I do think that a lot of things have changed over the past decade - and if you have not kept up with the changes I can see how it could be disappointing.

HOWEVER...when the OP started with the TTC I was like "Huh"????

Well at least I know I won't be running into this disgruntled person at Disney. Fine by me, fewer people in line to deal with!!

Please speak for yourself! There are actually some of us that enjoy their fries and I am one of them. Just because you don't, they're 'vile' right? Stick to it being just your opinion. :scratchin

The last I heard we all tend to enjoy different foods/things in life and that is a 'right' of all of us. There are sure to be foods that you like that I would not enjoy at all, but I wouldn't paint them all with the broad brush of saying they're 'vile'! Have a nice day while I go get a snack of Mickey D fries that this post has made me hungry for! ::yes::

I have heard the term "troll" or "trolling" before but could someone please explain excatly what does it mean??

In internet language, a troll is someone who willfully acts ignorant or otherwise starts trouble. Typically they know their marks well and make sure their comments hit on the touchiest of subjects.

Here's the definition from Wikipedia:

"In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows ******* on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally[3][4] or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[5] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[6]"
