I got to visit the Fort Lewis, WA, area for a few days from Sat, 26 Jun to Wed 30 Jun. What a beautiful area! We rented a DVD player at Dallas Airport but had to do so at a different terminal which was a little bit of hassle but being able to watch a movie (Cheaper by the Dozen) during a 4- hour flight was a blessing! Thank goodness the movie was funny as it cost about $20 to rent it. We returned the DVD player and movie at the Seattle Airport. Unfortunately, we stopped in Chicago on the way back and In Motion, the rental place, has not yet opened there. I rented a car which was only the 2nd time I have ever done so (the first being for one day at WDW) but it turned out fine. My daughter had a airline voucher for $400 so her airfare was free. We stayed in Tacoma as it was close to Fort Lewis, but almost an hour to Seattle. We rode The Ducks which took us on a tour of Seattle and right into the water for the second part of the tour. The best restaurant we visited was on Bainbridge Island where we took the ferry over with the car. We ate at Docs Grill, right on the water. What a beautiful town! We never went up the Space Needle as I was spending more money than I had planned. We did visit the Seattle Waterfront where Macy Gray was having a concert and the Tacoma Waterfront. Pike Market was great! The fruit and vegetables looked so perfect, they could have been fake for all I know! Fort Lewis was also beautiful. We live next to Fort Riley, Kansas, and there is a world of difference. We stopped by the University of Washington which was again, beautiful. If we had more time, we would have traveled to Mt. Rainier but we, instead, visited Seattle for a second time. I loved the weather, the scenery and being right on the water!
Its raining today so you got out just in time!
