Oh friends, sorry for being MIA with this trip report. I will finish it by this weekend, I promise you...so get ready for a bazillion updates!!

And in other news - I am going again in November, yeah! :cool1: My aunt and I are going down with just Sadie (10) and Justin (who will be 4 by then) and so the four of us are going November 6-14 and hopefully staying at Beach Club! My aunt calls tomorrow to try and get us in, so cross your fingers!! :thumbsup2

Take care, everyone, and I hope you are all doing well!!!!

I'm glad I saw this. Thoughts of Beach Club brighten my day! :)
Right now I am thinking of a No Way Jose, sunshine and palm trees, and the sound of children splashing along in Stormalong Bay as I get ready to teach Social Studies.

:dance3: Your back AND you got Beach Club! Congrats!!!

And MeMom - what a great thought that is......ahh I can taste that No Way Jose right now....popcorn:: yum!

How exciting! DH peaked my interest about the Beach club when we were planning an upcoming trip. We're not going, but it's still so beautiful! Congrats!

We stayed one night at the BC last year it is a great resort and the kids had a wonderful time at Storm Along Bay. We were so close to Epcot. :) It was really great. Congrats!!!

We are so excited!! We were VERY surprised that we could get in, since it's during F&W AND not our home resort. But we are so pumped!! :worship:

Wooohoo!!!

Yeah!!

So the name of this trip report should have been "Better late than never...."

But you are in luck: This weekend will be update-palooza so I can start my PTR for the November trip!! :thumbsup2

So when I left you, about 52 years ago.....

New Year's Eve on the Poly Beach!! Now this post doesn't have a ton of pictures - sorry!! The nighttime setting on my camera is not the greatest, but I did get a few. :goodvibes

My sister and I boarded the bus at DTD to ride over to the Poly! Brook (brookelizabeth) and I had been texting that night, so I knew she was already heading over there. We only missed each other at DTD by a few minutes!!

Anyway, Alice and I got on the bus and we were on our way - woo hoo!! New Year's Eve, here we come!

We arrived at the Poly. We're been there plenty of times to eat at O'Hana, but had never really walked around and explored. Well....it did not dissapoint!! The Poly is just gorgeous!!

We then arrived and met Brooke. She is just the nicest gal, we had a good time visiting and getting to know each other.

Then Alice and I wandered over to the pool bar area and I got myself an adult beverage to enjoy while watching fireworks. :yay:popcorn::

In short order, guess who showed up?! MeMom, Jill, the boys and Brooklyn and Isabelle!! The girls are just the most adorable and we had fun playing with Brooklyn before the fireworks started.

Brook had also made a sign, and we posted that near "our" spot!

(Sorry for the one that's not quite straight!)

We met some very nice folks who are from Des Moines, IA - only 2 hours south of where I live in Cedar Falls!! They have the same room, each NYE at the Poly, facing the beach. We camped out near them and had the BEST time getting to know each other and chatting before the fireworks!!

So I have no pictures of the fireworks - but they were AWESOME!! :woohoo: If you can find a movie of them on YouTube, I would highly suggest watching. They piped the music onto the beach, and so we could all hear the show and the music. It brought tears to my eyes - thinking about starting the new year, 2010, at WDW just made me feel that everything this year would work out for the best - and you know what? So far, it has! :lovestruc

After fireworks, we said our "good-byes", took a group picture (which you can see on MeMom and Jill's PTR now) and made our way to the bus stop. Now THAT was interesting....we waited for about 25-25 minutes and finally a bus pulled up for DTD. Well, everyone had the same thought we did about catching a connecting bus at DTD...so we all crammed in as best we could.

We then took the ferry boat over to Saratoga, the last ferry of the night. The ride was uneventful, save for the drunk parents with their (apparently) drunk teenage kids with them. :sad2: That I do NOT understand. Anyhoo, we made our way back to Saratoga and crept into the room about 2:30AM!!

So ends NYE, December 31st, 2009 as it turned into January 1, 2010. :wizard: It was a very magical, fun evening with new friends, and a GREAT way to start the new Year!

Next: January 1st = A deserted Epcot!!

January 1st....Epcot deserted?!

January 1st dawned wet and rainy. My uncle woke up that day and just he and Sadie, who is 10, went to Hollywood Studios to have some daddy/daughter time. My aunt, sister and I, along with the baby Justin decided to go to Epcot, and the older boys stayed behind to do some exercising and lounge around the room.

On the bus ride to Epcot, it started to POUR....I mean, really really rain. It was something else!! So we got off the bus and made a dash for the purse/bag inspection area. We then scanned our tickets and my sister ran into a gift shop to buy us all ponchos. Of course, the moment we got them, the rain let up. :upsidedow Of course! It was still sprinkling, but not that bad at all.

And Epcot was deserted!! Here it was, January 1st at about 10AM and there was NO ONE hardly in the park! It was awesome!!

So we decided to split up. I wanted to go walk around the World Showcase and just explore, and the rest of our crew wanted to take Justin to Nemo. So I made my way and started my walk around the World Showcase.

This was heaven, pure heaven. :lovestruc I could go at my own pace, no kids pulling me in another direction.....ahhh.....:wizard: it was magical!

I was able to get some pictures along the way....

I went into shops, got a Grand Marnier slushie...(ok, so it wasn't quite noon YET, but it was close :lmao:) and wandered around...bliss, pure bliss. :lovestruc

We had lunch reservations at Biergarten, and I had just enough time to ride the Single Rider line at Test Track. And who do I see there?! My two oldest cousins, Sam and Jacob! Turns out, they wanted a ride before lunch as well.

So the 3 of us walked over to Biergarten and got ready to go in for our lunch...

Those pictures are not the greatest...but the food was GREAT!!! It was very yummy and we had a great meal.

After lunch, we split up again - this time, 5 of the 6 kids were going to Hollywood Studios, since Sadie had 2 Fastpasses for TSM to use that afternoon. We made our way to the boat dock area near Beach Club, but not before I made the kids take a picture with the Beast. :goodvibes

UP NEXT....Part 2 of our day, onto Hollywood Studios!

Great updates! I was watching the live feed on New Years Eve! It was so much fun!
Well, not as much fun as being there but still fun!
Lucky you with an empty Epcot!

Now that we're not going for NYE, I'm a little disappointed about missing the chance to see the fireworks from the Poly beach. Sounds like a lovely alternative to fighting the crowds at MK!

Sorry the next day was so wet, but perhaps it was good luck afterall! I've never seen WS so empty!!! Very cool that you were able to get some time to explore on your own, too!
