Our Thanksgiving Fantasy - Nov 22-Dec 1 - COMPLETE!!

The ship looks so pretty with all the Christmas decorations. What a gorgeous ship.

I hope the boys liked the segway tour.

Love you super sleuth photography skills in getting a picture of the Scottish man in his kilt.

it sounds like a fun day for the 2 of you. I was confused by the laundry too. now I have directions I will bring with me next time. :lmao:
Claire is obsessed with Frozen too and she has seen it twice and wants to see it again as well.

Looks like autocorrect got you again ... LOL. That cheese was amazing. I'm getting me some soon. I am sure I would weigh a lot less if I had the same problem as you ..... Susan

Sure did! I may not know much , but I know what I mean to say. ..... Most of the time.

I'm with you about Costa Maya. I wasn't real impressed. I think if we ever go on a cruise that stops there, I'll drop in on the marketplace, have a cerveza and enjoy some time back on the ship. :scratching PS - love the dress that you bought for DD!!

That is basically what we did. Looking out on that port I said to my wife, "I feel a bit guilty. This place is so poor, we probably paid more for our one week vacation than these folks make in a year"

Great update! :)

Thnaks wiigirl !!

I take it most of the passengers went into Cozumel? The ship looks downright empty in your photos!

It was pretty empty. We enjoyed it.

Laundry on vacation!? I know many who do that, but I'd rather deal with it when I get home.

We had a pile of towels and DD's bathing suits needed washing. I don't mind doing laundry on vaca. It means I have less to do when I get home and it makes me have a few hours to get some rest.

The ship looks so pretty with all the Christmas decorations. What a gorgeous ship.

It really is beautiful. Very difficult to leave.

I hope the boys liked the segway tour.

They did !! I will get to that in the next update.

Love you super sleuth photography skills in getting a picture of the Scottish man in his kilt.

I am still confused over it. I just ahd to get a photo. Completely random and out of place.

Gah - it was sooo frustrating. I got it working though. I may have said a few dirty words about it though.

Claire is obsessed with Frozen too and she has seen it twice and wants to see it again as well.

Hannah LOVES it. We saw it FOUR times ont he boat and once more since she has been back. We have all of the songs on her MP3 player and she has the two dolls. Elsa and Anna - the Disney Animators ones. So cute. I love it, too.

Sure did! I may not know much , but I know what I mean to say. ..... Most of the time.

Autocorrect is the bane of my existence sometimes !!

It WAS kind of scary. But the people were very friendly. I dunno. I was happy with our beach day, but I was glad to be back on the ship.

I'm caught up!

We were in Costa Maya in 2005 before big hurricane Dean in 2007 that wiped out the cruise port. Even before that there was a military presence from when we went and my DH was a little annoyed that I chose to take a photo or two of the soldiers along the beach of Costa Maya's Majahaual area. Glad you enjoyed the beach area and had some friends to accompany you. :)

Remy looks spectacular with the nice end of meal touches with the chocolates and rose.

Wait! They played Frozen on the ship? That's so awesome. I can see where your DD would become obsessed.

A relaxing port day - spent doing laundry! :rotfl: I completely understand your logic with that though. One of the reasons I like the villas is you can do laundry and bring home clean clothes without having to face it when you get home.

That scavenger hunt is a great way to get some great photos of the ship. :thumbsup2

Mmmm, just hearing what Remy is like is enough to sell me on it....

Okay, now I'm really sold on it. It just looked amazing! I find fancier restaurants to be like that. There are a few things you don't like, but the stuff you do enjoy is just like WOW.

They were showing Frozen?! Even better!!!

Hey listen, rock on with your bad Scottish gear. :lmao: How random.

Frozen really is a great movie. We loved it.

That makes me wonder what it looked like before the Hurricane.

We couldn't believe how much dessert they brought out. I would have been nice if they had a brought a wheelchair as well. Talk about stuffed !!

Wait! They played Frozen on the ship? That's so awesome. I can see where your DD would become obsessed.

Yes, they played it at midnight the same day it came out in the States. DD was SOOOOOO excited.

I like that about the villas as well. I just don't like laundry to pile up. And it is nice to have clean things. You know, like socks and underpants.

That scavenger hunt is a great way to get some great photos of the ship. :thumbsup2

It is a fun little game. And you see parts of the ship you might normally not see.

Mmmm, just hearing what Remy is like is enough to sell me on it....

Yes, like I was telling Brenda, they played it at midnight the same day it came out in the States. They called it a PremEAR. We thought DD might be too tired, but NOPE she wanted to go. Thank goodness DH is night owl.

Yeah - I still don't EVEN know ----

Frozen really is a great movie. We loved it.

They showed it several times a day. DD saw it FOUR times. She is obsessed with it !!

Sounds like a good day. So far.
The game sounded like fun, laundry not so much. LOL

It was a pretty low key day for us. I had to do something about the laundry, it was piling up big time and we still had four more days to go.

All I have to say is that I'm glad the Scottish guy had his legs crossed as he was lounging. Otherwise, that picture could be a little scary. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

I'm glad your DD enjoyed Frozen so much. We haven't seen it yet, but really would like to. The Midship Detective Agency looks like a fun way look around and see the whole ship! :thumbsup2

Haha - I didn't think about that. Glad I didn't wait around to find out.

It is a great movie. You need to see it.

Yes, fun game. It takes you all over the ship. You have to plan ahead if you have a sore ankle and try to do the segments all in the same area before moving on. They provide a good map.

Omg ! Scottish man on deck ! Lmao !!!!

I prefer to throw a load of laundry in too while on vacation !
Sometimes I pack only light.... So I can throw it all in.
I love the tide pods for travel !

I did laundry once at POP.... There was not a sober mom in the place !!!!
The bar is right next to the laundry !!! It was a wild area !

This is one of the perks of DVC ownership. We always have a washer and dryer in the villa and It really is nice to have clean clothes when you get home. There is less to do when you need a vacation from your vacation.

So the laundry room at Pop is where the party is at?? Who knew ??

Great report so far! We are leaving no the fantasy in a little over a month.

We are making the same stops as you. We have some of the same excursions and I also have Palo brunch and Remy champagne brunch booked. I am hoping that we can get in on the mixology and champagne tasting classes and they won't fall during our brunch's. We have yet to do them.

I am particularly excited to see how Disney handles actual Thanksgiving. We currently booked to take a Thanksgiving cruise this year on the Magic. It will complete our final tour of all 4 ships and it will finally provide my then 5 year old to be able to see Captain America. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to see the rest of your report!!!

:welcome: I am so glad you took the time to say hello. I bet you are so excited about your upcoming cruise.

I highly recommend the mixology and the wine and chocolate tasting if you can get them. We very much enjoyed both of those. Hey, you have 7 days, right?? I know - a lot happens in those 7 days.

Thanksgiving is coming up, soon. Stay tuned !!

Day 6 – Part 2

When I last left off, DD and I had just watched Frozen and we returned to the room and DH and DS were back from their excursion. They did the Cozumel by Segway and Beach Combo

The description of this excursion on the DCL website was:

On this tour you will:

- Your experience begins as you board a taxi for an approximate 20-minute transfer to your Segway PT practice area. Put on your helmet (mandatory), knee pads and elbow pads, and receive an introduction and lesson on your individual Segway PT.

- Once your training is complete and you are confident on your Segway, the journey will start along Cozumel's beautiful coastline. Admire some of the nicest views in Cozumel as you breeze toward the southern part of the island for approximately 30 minutes.

- Continue your smooth ride to the beach club where you will have approximately 60 minutes of leisure time at the beach to swim, snorkel or relax with a cool beverage (beverages are not included).

- Return to the practice location on the approximate 20-minute Segway ride. Meet your taxi and take the transfer back to the pier.

They had to get up early for this excursion – about 8:00 AM. This was a little tough on DS, but DH managed to get him out the door in time. They met their group at their designated area – I think theirs was La Piazza.

They all went together and exited the boat at the dock and boarded a taxi. DH said there was about 12 people in their in the group, so it took two taxis. It took about 20 minutes to get to the facility. Once they were there, they watched a video about segways and safety. Then they got orange pullovers, elbow and knee pads and helmets. These segways were more the off road style.

Here is a photo I pinched from the interwebs

Then they had a little course where you practice some. They had about 30-45 minutes to practice. Then they got lined up and went out on about an 8-10 mile trip. Mostly sidewalks and trails along the water.

DH said it was windy and a little cooler lower 70s maybe. Then they stopped and this is where they were supposed to have the beach part of the excursion, but they just ended up having lunch. They shared some nachos and they both said the food was good. DH was teasing DS about how much everything cost. Everything was in pesos so he had DS believing that their nachos cost something like $118. And we thought Disney prices were nuts …LOL. He told him finally, though.

Then they made the return trip back to the facility. Then they all got photos

And then the taxi took them back to the dock area. They looked around at the shopping area and DS got a bracelet for his girlfriend. Then they got back on the boat. Very enjoyable outing they said.

So anyway, we were all back at the room, which was ready early. It was Pirate night so we all had kerchiefs for that.

DS was done with adults for the day and left us to find his friends. DH took DD up to ride the Aquaduck, while I looked around and got some more photos.

I loved these art pieces.

They were in the process of constructing this gingerbread house during our cruise and it was fun to see the progress every day.

After that, I went to join DH and DD on deck 11 to see what they were up to.

That segway excursion looks like it was a lot of fun. I've always wanted to try one of those, but fear making a fool of myself.

Great photos around the ship!

Your DH needs a GoPro so he can video these Segway excursions. I wonder if Segway tour companies would let you strap a GoPro to your helmet? Probably not. Pity.

That Dumbo painting is totes magotes adorbs!

The Segway tour looks like a lot of fun. It seems like you could use a little bit more than 60 minutes of leisure time at the beach though.
