Our Seemingly Silly Semi-Illogical Four Day Whirlwind Trip

Kay - My DH is such a sweetie - he gets my DIS addiction. Please don't feel bad about leaving us hanging - it adds to the excitement!!!!!!!:lmao:

Kay, another new reader onboard! Your report caught my attention because we are staying at Wilderness Lodge for the first time in December! Only my family doesn't know and thinks we are staying at Caribbean Beach!! Reading your experiences so far just make me that much more excited!!! :thumbsup2 I hope its warm enough in December to try out that wonderful pool! It sounds perfect!

Last night I read the first 10 pages in one sitting. I didn't want to quit but I had to get some sleep!! Before going to work I e-mailed a few more segments to myself at work because its less noticeable if I'm just "checking my e-mail" rather than looking like I'm checking out Disney stuff! :goodvibes I'm totally convinced that holding in laughter is bad for your health because I thought I was going to die, especially after reading your description of finding the towel Mickey head on your bed!! :rotfl2:

I've read lots of great trip reports but yours is definitely the most creative!! Can't wait for more!! :worship:

Kay, I've been keeping up with your report (reading aloud to dh, who has now developed a habit of asking me if there's "a new Kay and Lowell story"), and have decided it's not fair to just keep enjoying it without telling you again what a wonderful writer you are!

My two favorite quotes from your latest installment:

I pause outside the door. Fool! The mug is still empty. Someone will have to go back inside and fill it!

Sometimes I tow him around in the water which is bad for his self-esteem.

Seriously, we laughed so hard we woke our teenager up (and if you know teenagers, you know how hard that is to do!).

Looking forward to Sunday when we finally learn what's in The Bag. :thumbsup2

Gah! :scared1: You scared me Kay, I didn't think you saw us all standing behind you there, peering over your shoulder. C'mon, c'mon, unpack now!

Ok. alright, I guess we'll have to wait until Sunday.

Loved this installment and all the wonderful details. For a moment, I wasn't sitting here at the computer with the winds howling outside....I was at the WL pool, ahhhhhh. Pass the mug, please!

Once again, your photos are beautiful.

I get nervous with those refillable mugs too. I think that if I refill too fast, a cm will come running after me yelling "one refill per hour, lady, weren't you just here 10 minutes ago?":guilty:

Tweed bag. Sunday. Got it. Have a nice weekend!

You are such a descriptive writer. I was sighing right with you along the ledge of the WL pool (and avoiding getting my hair wet).

My favorite: "I've told you a million times, I dont exaggerate"

I was wedged out on the balcony when you were unpacking The Bag. Or else I'd be grabbing your snacks and eating them. ;)

Hi, friends/readers/barnacles :rotfl:

Oh, Kay you are so funny!! Hope your foot is okay. I was just so excited to get a peek over bunnysmum's shoulder into that darned tweed bag. The suspense is killing me!

I nearly fell off my chair laughing when I read this and had to call my whole family over to the computer to read it. I'll be here Sunday morning with bells on! :rotfl2:

:wave2: Bari: Not only are you in my room, standing on my foot, but you posted the message above at the same exact moment I was posting a message. Consequently, I missed including you in my greetings to people who had commented on this episode. Yes, my foot is better, thanks. And I'm getting over the trauma of the DIS room invasion. It was nice seeing all you folks, you just took me by surprise! If I get up in time to post the Sunday segment before church, it will be there in the morning, if not, later in the day, but it will be up on Sunday.

:wave2: TigerKat: Well, I'm glad to hear I won't be reponsible for starting a family fight. :thumbsup2 And I'm glad you are enjoying the suspense. It's amazing the amount of interest this small mystery has generated. The mere mention of "the thing which must not be mentioned" makes people determined to learn what it is. I think if I ever write another trip report, I'll title it DON'T READ THIS REPORT. I'm sure I'd develop the widest readership of any trip report in DIS history. :rotfl2:

:wave2: Liz: I'm tap-jogging with delight to meet another new reader. I'm not sure about the pool temperature in December. It might be OK if you get some warm days. Pack a wetsuit and a hatchet, so you can chop some ice off and swim even if it's cold. Kids will swim no matter what. Just dunk them in the spa to de-ice them, then send them back to the pool.

I'm glad I livened up your day at work, and thanks for the compliments on my story. I really do appreciate it.

:wave2: DiznEeyore: Thanks so much for coming out of lurkdom. I've mentioned before how much I love to hear that people share my episodes with their families. It's so nice to think that I'm creating a few moments of enjoyment that people can share together. That's what Disney strives to do, and it's a noble ambition. Lowell was watching TV across the room when I was reading your comments and I called him over to hear your statement about a "new Kay and Lowell story." He thought that was pretty neat. I told him, "I may pick on you about your swimming and your dirty socks, but at least you're becoming famous." Sorry about waking up your teenager, though. Sleepy teenagers can be cranky when disturbed.

:wave2: SunKat: It's so neat when people say they were able to feel like they were at the pool with us. And I would have happily shared the mug with you since, as PKWallaby points out, we are already guilty of being "Mug Violators." It's funny that you feel awkward returning too soon for another refill. Chances are the CMs see so many people they wouldn't even remember you, but those thoughts still run through people's heads.

:wave2: UtahMama: More and more I'm getting the sense that all you guys really ARE there with us. You are really starting to intrude (but in a good way) as I write these segments. The part I wrote about unpacking the tweed bag and finding some of you in the room came about because as I started to describe unpacking it, I first had an image of everyone leaning toward their monitor screens saying, "Yes? YES?????" Then I had an image of a crowd of people litterally hanging over my shoulder as I reached inside the bag. It made me laugh out loud and I decided to run with it.

As you can see, I am having as much fun, maybe more, from writing this than you are from reading it. :lmao:

:wave2: Liz: I'm tap-jogging with delight to meet another new reader. :

Your "tap-jogging" just cracks me up picturing it in my mind!!! :rotfl2: I can just see parents shielding their children's eyes and telling them its not polite to stare!! :rotfl:

Kay7979,
I've been lurking for a few months, but I had to register so I could tell you how much I've been enjoying your trip report. I check back each night to see if you've written anything new. Keep up the good work!

Oh what a wonderful episode and what a great way to pull us all in! Thank you. Now if you all would move over maybe I could get a glimpse of what is in that darned bag :rotfl2:

I did feel like I was right there at the pool with you through your great descriptive imagery. Sorry for crowding in the room, maybe we should just send one or two of us to sneak in instead of the whole gang. :rotfl:

Kay, nothing I can say that hasn't been already said (besides, I suck at funny quotes).

Just wanted you to know I am still reading and loving your report!!

I will be here Sunday!

PART EIGHTEEN:

Where were we? Oh, yes, unpacking.

Deoderant

Reservation documents

Insect repellant

Sunglasses

Detective/spy equipment

Pool-Hopper electrocution kit

AND FINALLY

The thing-which-must-not-be-mentioned:

And now that you have seen the $11.99 Investment from the Wilderness Lodge, you can see that this one looks reasonably similar, but that’s not why I brought it. Remember, I didn’t even know what the Lodge mug looked like. No, the reason is innocent. I simply want an additional mug, so Lowell and I can have our coffee together in the morning. And if we both want something later in the day, I can have ice water. After trying to lose some weight, and living on eggplant and cabbage for weeks, I don’t want to guzzle soda pop. I plan to eat, drink, and enjoy myself while we’re here, but cutting back where I won’t miss the calories only makes sense. Tonga Toast is good for a two pound gain alone, and that’s just from looking at it; eating it will be at least four pounds.

But despite its purely innocent purpose, you just KNOW what everyone who sees this mug will think! They’ll think we’re using it at the drink dispensers. And the only thing worse than bringing a Lodge mug from a previous stay, is bringing a mug from another resort! And this mug is from the other side of the country, from a resort at Disneyland, no less! What kind of crust does it take to bring a Grand Californian mug to Disneyworld, Florida?

So now you understand why we need to smuggle it discretely to our room, and why I’m afraid to carry it around during our stay. And in case you’re curious, neither of us has ever been to the Grand Californian. Lowell is famous for bringing me home things from auctions, and that’s how I got this mug. It came with a neat assortment of other Disney mugs, some of which may be quite old. I’m not familiar with all the designs, so I don’t know if they are current or out-dated. If you like, I’ll post a picture of them later (which will be a mug shot, not to be confused with a mug shot) and you can date them for me.

THAT was totally worth the wait!!! I thought it was a refillable mug, but WOW!!! What a twist!

And, I would like the record to state that, even though I have been reading along this entire time, I was NOT crowding you in the hotel room - I was waiting patiently in the hall... Oh, who am I kidding? I was in the bathroom... I had too many Sprites while we were out at the pool before! :sad2:

I agree, totally worth the wait. Who would have thought the mug would look so similar? :scared1: I had to go back to the previous pic to compare. You are such a hoot, you just made my day. And now I have to get off your foot, out of your room, rush off to church before I'm late! :lmao:

Can't wait for more! Like, did you use the mug, strategically placing your hand to hide the logo??

:lmao: I thought the exact same thing!

Great job again Kay,,,and yes, I read these to live vicariously thru others ::yes::

You almost had me asking you about DL...have you never been? I am going in May for my first time. We are staying at a Best Western but fully intend to check out DLs hotels.

I've bben lurking in the room also - Thanks for the laughs.

Now I will go back to our regularlly scheduled activities - starting to pack for our trip in five days - Woo Hoo. Pleas join us & lurk in our room(s) when we get back. Due to indecision and some last minute changes we will be staying at three different hotels - yikes! One night off site, two nights Wilderness Lodge and three nights Beach Club. We're driving down so I don't think I'll have them move our luggage - with 4 kids along, we would not survive a delay in the arrival of the bathing suits - especially not with Storm Along Bay calling!!:woohoo:

:wave2: tiggerbell: Thanks! I am so glad to hear you thought it was a fun twist. And I’m laughing at the idea of you in our bathroom due to too many Sprites at the pool. I think my readers share my demented sense of humor, which is a GOOD thing!

:wave2: You, too, thought it was worth the wait? Great! I was hoping people wouldn’t feel like “so what” when they finally found out what was in the bag. Thanks for the feedback. I will post a pic of the two mugs together this evening for easier comparison, and another pic of the other mugs in my small collection. I have one from POR when it was Dixie Landings, so I have an idea how old that one is, and I have one from our stay in 2004 at OKW which was a design I believe they only had for the Christmas season. The mug says 2004 on it. The two I need help dating are two different designs from the Grand Floridian. They are smaller coffee cup size than my other mugs. They are the flat bottom style. I have no idea how old they are. I hope one of you will know.

As for the question did we actually take the mug outside the room and use it? And if so, did we attempt to disguise or hide it? Thanks for setting me up with something new I can use for suspense!

Totally worth the wait!!!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:wave2: Another vote: “Yes” it was worthy of the suspense. Thank you, thank you!

:lmao You almost had me asking you about DL...have you never been? I am going in May for my first time. We are staying at a Best Western but fully intend to check out DLs hotels.

:wave2: tiggerwannabe: Have a great time on your trip to DL. I hear UtahMama is headed there in a couple weeks, and I’m sure she will write another delightful trip report when she returns. I would love to go ride Indiana Jones again. That is a close second to PoTC as my favorite.

Lowell went to DL once when he was a young boy. I went there the first time in my late 20s, I’m guessing. When I was single, I used to do coach tours in Europe and the US. I did a tour of part of California, Nevada, and Arizona, that stopped for about half a day at DL. Most of the people on the tour were from Australia, New Zealand, England, and Canada. I think there was only one other American besides me. It was a riot going to DL with people from other countries, but we only had time enough to hit the highlights. I went again about 11 years ago, before Lowell and I were married. I took a two week vacation solo to California, and stayed a week at a timeshare condo in Palm Springs, then went to Anaheim for four days, then back to the Palm Springs area and stayed at a spa resort in Dessert Hot Springs for the last few days. So, on that trip I spent a lot more time at DL. I had a great time. I think I went on Indiana Jones six times in a row. And I had back problems, but not severe. I was taking a chance making my condition worse, but I loved the ride so much I risked it anyway!

I've been lurking in the room also - Thanks for the laughs.

Now I will go back to our regularly scheduled activities - starting to pack for our trip in five days - Woo Hoo. Please join us & lurk in our room(s) when we get back. :wave2: Hi, riopooh! Another new reader! Have a fantastic time on your trip. I would love to stay at the Beach Club and check out that pool. If you write a trip report when you return, I will definitely come lurk in your room and swim with you at that great pool. :thumbsup2

Great surprise, Kay, Loved it!

Your reports are so much fun to read, I totally love them!

OOooh, pretty. I want one!

I just checked eBay because I seriously would like to have one of these, and I DON'T ever intend to vacation at Disneyland, I just like the mug, okay?!

Those of you who know me, know that I purchased a POR refillable mug and never once refilled that sucker. So my track record is pretty undistinguished where getting my money's worth is concerned. BUT, I cannot believe that people are selling their refillable mugs on eBay with pointed suggestions that others use them and refill them at the resort! :scared1: Naughty, naughty peeps!

I'm so glad you didn't forget the:

Detective/spy equipment
Pool-Hopper electrocution kit

Whew!:rotfl:
