Good morning peeps. How is everyone this chilly morning (chilly for some of us that is). It is chilly and rainy here in Louisiana as the cold front came through during the night. Unfortunately it won't last but a few days before the day time temps go back into the mid 80's :sad2: I so can't wait for the weather to turn cool and stay that way. It is the fall and it is not supposed to be summer time hot :furious:

Oh well enough about the weather. I am in a good mood. Only 8 days till we leave for our trip :woohoo: I went shopping yesterday and got a few more items of clothes to wear on the trip as well as some great shoes (Payless has their BOGO sale going on and I got two pairs of ankle boots and two pairs of dress pumps). Also my Build a bear order arrived yesterday. I had ordered a couple of Halloween items and it had been shipped Monday Oct 2. This evening I am going to go by the store and see if they have changed the deal about the new Disney costumes that Teresa told me about. As of Tuesday they were not selling the costumes by themselves, you actually had to by the animal dressed in the costume. The sales lady told my DH to check back in a few days because the executives were thinking about letting the costumes be sold seperately.

It was 31 Farenheit at my house this morning. I still have my bedroom windows open and will til at least our Thanksgiving. I love the cold!!

We had a foot of snow here one October 4 about 20 years ago. It was beautiful, but a disaster. All the leaves were still on the trees and the limbs couldn't handle the extra weight so lots of trees came down. Trucks didn't have plows attached yet so clearing streets took a few days.

I heard lots of power lines came down in Buffalo yesterday due to that storm.

Not only is power out in lots lof places but only ONE of the four bridges are closed so it is virtualy impossible to get into the US. AND :scared1: the Buffalo airport is closed. When we come down that is one we use. This better not be an indication of the winter.

Nope, Not V.S. and not the big ... Of Hollywood either.... I never heard of the company before they told me. I try to get to know my customers. It makes it easier to sell to them. You know... what they like, dislike, how many kids, what kind of job you do, what they're allergic to, etc. I knew she was a model before, but asked what kind of modeling, and they said, lingerie, and swimsuit.

Nope, she's never answered the door that way. But I've had other customers who have. One woman answered the door with nothing but a comforter wrapped around her body (and it slipped as she was talking to me).
Okay, who has that sign-up form for the FMC? Go ahead and PM it to me. :rolleyes1 MrOakie it isn't you; it's me.

Oh forgot to mention the 500 pound guy that answered the door in nothing but a speedo. GROSS  :crazy2:

Yippee :cheer2: who said that Friday the 13th is bad luck :confused3 I just got a phone call from my "old" doc's office (the one from 3 years ago) and they told me that he finally saw my file sitting on his desk, pulled it to the top & had me slotted in IMMEDIATELY. :cool1: :cool1: I get to see him Tuesday @ 11.
Wish me luck.

Hey everyone :wave2:

I got a question for y'all. Does anyone in their day to day work ever come across celebrities? Local celebs or national celebs?

I never have other than the local news people like Angela Hill and Garland Robinette. I did see Julia Roberts from a small distance when she was filming the Pelican Brief here years ago. My Dh met a couple of sports celebs in his old job and an ex boyfriend of mine, his dad met Jean Claude Van Damm when he was filming Hard Target.

I actually have surprisingly met quite a few.
I've met: Mookie Wilson (he came to our house a few times too, my mom would run into him grocery shopping invited him to dinner a few times), Darrell Strawberry (I remember our conversation, about NOT doing drugs :rotfl:), Keith Hernandez. I think that takes care of baseball
Bowling: Mark Roth and Parker Bohn III.
Musicians: Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen (I can spit to his stomping grounds, so no surprise there, and no I don't listen to his music)
Political: Nancy and Ronald Reagan :worship: I love Reagan. A little background on that one. I was wayyy too young to vote, and I convinced my parents to vote for him, I pleaded my case, because I couldn't actually pull the lever myself. Well they did, and he won!! So as an Irish Dancer, we have a big (or at least used to be) competition (called a feis) and it was in D.C. The location was on the White House lawn. So my parents wrote the White House, and explained this whole fiasco of my infatuation with Ronald Reagan. After competition, my mother forced me to hang around, and I did. Well out comes this helicopter, and it lands, this is not uncommon it happened every year. Well this time out came the Reagans. No, not to meet me but to make an appearance. I was in awe. I got to chit chat with him. Can you see a 9 year old talking to Reagan about his trickle down economic theory? Well that was me, and our conversation.
Adding to this category Doug Forrester, we shared a beer on campus. Interviewed him for a paper I was writing, he had already just made an appearance at the University.

I think that about covers it.
:goodvibes I was named after my dad who was named after Reagan. :thumbsup2

Well, speaking as a parent, I can tell you that C's are for average kids and I think my kids are better than that. If DD1 and DD2 are giving it their best effort( doing homework, asking me for help or going to tutoring) I can live with a B but I still push for A's. My parents knew nothing of class rank and how it effected getting into collage. I learned about that my SR. year and it was Waaaaaaayyyy to late to move up. All the work it takes to be in upper level classes is worth it in the end. I wish someone one had explained all of that to me. But since I was the only guy to finish High School, and the only child still at the house when they finished. I think they were pretty happy with that.
Not only do we(parents) want you(our children) to have better "things" than we did we want you to have a better opportunity than we did. (sorry Dad mode took over)

So totally agree here. I could be the poster child for the "go to college, earn a degree, or learn a trade so you won't end up being like this" and having a picture of me on it. I am already talking it up to my kids who are still in elementary school and both in Special Ed so that they dont' have to end up like mom, burning the candle at both ends and missing them to make the bills and fun stuff. Now if hubby would get on board a bit more!

They filmed Cheaper by the Dozen 2 with Steve Martin at the local conservation area. Em & her friends were there hoping to swim but the whole area was closed due to filming. ANYWHO ... one of her friends was wearing a very pink t-shirt that said "I'm too pretty to learn math"
Steve stopped, looked them all ... shook his head "NO way girls! Don't ever stop school and math, well doesn't go with being pretty unless you wanna use it to count the # of guys you wanna say no to" Girls got a kick outta this -- 'specially since they were then invited to join the group on the beach to watch the filming.
