Each year I think it gets better and better to watch them cause the game improves so much. Sometimes after watching cody it is really hard to sit through a whole game of the 4/5 y/o's. They are cute as they crash and bump all over the place but it is a step backwards in the excitement level. Hopefully your team will do well. I'm holding my breath about ours. We lost about half of our team from last year but the better kids from last year are still on the team so that's good but at this level they pick all the best skaters for the top level (D) which most teams we'll play won't have any 7 y/o's on at all. We are about 1/2 8 y/o's this year which is better than last but we'll never skate against these kids in these big leagues again because these kids will all go onto A and AA teams and we'll go into B and C teams at squirts which is when our kids start to feel like they can win. We only won one game last against a D team. There were entire tourneys we went to and didn't even score a goal. It was painful but the kids had a blast and we had a fun team.

Its all about the kids and parents in my book. They need to have fun on and off the ice. That is why I am having this party on saturday. That way the kids can hang out with the new players and the parents can mingle as well. Bunch of us have been together for awhile but we got lucky and got some really good parents this year too.

Yup $200 for an hour here too; and they were trying to raise to $250 this year . That rink bugs me sometimes. After the second group of kids went out the zamboni broke down (it's a piece poop anyways) so no clean ice for men's hockey. Okay, we can handle that. Then they want us to pay full price??? They finally charged us half for playing on the snow.

Then, player/coach for the pro guys that come out to play with us wants to do something nice (Thursday is there last night to play out with us, and the their camp opens up) so he brings beer for everyone. Well, the rink complained because he didn't buy it from them. After all the other days that we go up and spend money at their place and they're givin him poop about this. Talk about burning bridges. Do like our coaches do. They bring an extra hockey bag to put the cooler in with the beer on ice.. LOL THen they have a "meeting" in the locker room. LOL. All the men end up in there after the games. Gotta love it.

I want to say around 15 (don't quote me). The league is 4 years old this season, and little by little we've been trying to improve it. It is a house league. Remember this is Deep Deep South Texas (15 minutes from Mexico) so getting kids to do this instead of football (Texas Religion) is tough. We have about two teams per division. They play each other, then we switch them up some. Later in the season we'll put a travel team together for the higer divisions and let them play some other Texas teams.

It was so fun to be out there again. I have to admit to you all now that I am the head of officials for the area (yes I know boos & hisses). I don't get to coach a team, but I do help out with practices. I have a lot of fun with the kids; especially when I ref. They all know me, and that I'm Mr. Referee; they'll see me and give that evil little grin.

Yes we now have an inside for all our b**ches. You can let us know the rules. We are pretty lucky this year because the president of our association is my son's coach so he knows his stuff. How are you on soccer? The refs suck in my sons division. My dh has played all his life and they hire these kids to reff. I love to see my dh argue with the refs. My dh is always right. The refs are the worse at where a ball goes out and where they have them kick it back in. OH well season is almost over.

It wasn't until I was teaching third grade last year that I realized how un-PC this is. Talk about chaotic, my class did fingerpainting today. When I used to be the mom helper in my DD's kinder class, I would take 3 kids at a time and help them fingerpaint. Today, I had 8 at a time, and they were all . I love Halloween, but the kids are already starting to go whacko over it.
I went right from work to dinner at Chili's, and I had a couple of nice splotches of orange paint on my clothes. The best one was on my sweater, in a place that sticks out a little further.

Oh how do I love fingerpainting. My kids do this daily at their preschool. I have to laugh at the parents that actually send their kids in to school in " good clothes" A note was sent home yesterday to please not send you kids to school in nice clothes. We have some pretty snobby parents in Nicks preschool this year. They crack me up with how their kids are dressed so preppy. Feel sorry for them when they get bigger. Man are they gonna get their butts kicked later in life.

You guys must be using those World Cup refs. Oh, and I never argue with coaches, players, parents; there's no point cause I'm always right . Actually, I'm pretty good about "miscalculations" . If I'm not positive I'll get a second opinion from my partner, then I'll explain it to the coach/captain-alternate (I prefer captains-alternates). If there is still a problem I'll tell them that my partner and I have made a decision, and we're wasting the kid's ice time. That usually gets them going.
