our secret green club? Part 2

I're read a lot of things that say since the hurricanes the views are MUCH better - kind of a shame ...but good for us.

We got the cheapest "standard"at WL. Everyone said it was pointless to get the cheapest at AKL because there's no view of the savannah (animals.) So...I figure I'll save up til we can get a view of animals....

Yea... that's usually true. We got a standard last year and I'm pretty sure we were upgraded. We did have a view of the Savannah... the Arusha too. We were at the end of the zebra trail hallway. The animals had a feeding place very close to our balcony and we saw a constant stream of animals from our balcony! I know the standard rooms supposedly face the parking lot.. but that would only be the rooms facing the front of the resort.. and it doesnt seem like there are that many. I paid for a savannah view this year for my DD. We had a perfect mid-way view of the Arusha. Wish I could have afforded the whole stay like that!
There are so many beautiful viewing spots in the resort though. Where the buildings connect are all viewing spots (all glass) and have a place to sit too. The 3rd floor (Which is the main floor with the lobby) has two large outdoor (covered) viewing areas with rocking chairs and binoculars and one "Sunset" savannah lounge, which is indoors. The second floor also has an outdoor viewing area with binocular and rocking chairs. Then there's the Arusha Rock viewing area... but if it's important to you to see the animals right from your balcony I would definately save up for a savannah room!
WL is the same in that their standard rooms face the parking lots... and all standards don't have balconies either. Except with WL they have parking lots around several parts of the resort. Our standard room there was right above a loading dock. It was pretty noisy! But, the insulation was really good because with the balcony doors closed you barely heard anything. We couldn't sit out there though because the smell of diesel fuel was too strong. And we were on the 6th floor!
I wouldn't have paid for a woods view or lake view anyway. We're pretty rural, I can sit out on my own deck and see lots of woods.. and we have a stream not too far back so I see water..lol. I really wanted to experience WL. It has really beautiful grounds! We didn't find the time to rent any watercraft though.. I would have liked that. I'm glad we tried it.. but I wouldn't go back again. I think I'm just more of an animal kind of girl!..lol. My dd too.

I'm sure you'll love it! Especially Whispering Canyon which always had my daughter giggling!

Hey guess what I get some mommy time today. All by myself. Actually going to go and scrapbook for 5 hours today. bonus I'm doing my disneyland pics from 2 years ago. I should be good and relaxed and ready to start printing off itineraries, maps to grocery stores, etc.

Cody is on his way back to the grandparents for another week of spoiling. This way he won't have to get exposed to anything at daycare before we get him all better. Brody is on his way home. Can't wait till tonight for a big old snuggle with him. Life is half way back to normal here. Hoping that in another week this chaos is all just a fond memory.

Thanks for all of your input on AKL !!! I know, part of me thought about doing the standard view and wishing for an upgrade - esp. since a lot of people here on the boards seemed to have gotten an upgrade. I just kept thinking if I didnt get one how I might regret not paying the extra...

I AM excited about WL- hopefully we wont get the Diesal room!! I esp. hope we get a balcony - since with little ones who go to bed 8-9 or so I hope to spend a lot of down time on my balcony. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Hey we went to my moms today and I even took our dog (Sulley). He's a golden retriever. He is gonna spend a week at Geema's house when daddy is in florida with us. He loves to go to Geema's house. I even made a sign for on her gate that says "my granddog visits me sometimes so watch out for him" Everyone laughs at it.

That is so cute! We are tying to decide what to do with the cats, cause we will have the air off downstairs while we are gone , since it don't work right. Chip will be around some, and his air will be on....hmmm maybe in his room, eh?

Yummy! I gotta make a grocery store run later, when it gets cooler. (90 degrees heat index nearig 100)No AC in the van and the ice cream wouldn't make it home. hmmm... eating it there... Now that is a good thought! Or I can take hubbys "cluttered with trash" car and have AC... hmmmm?!

Oh and I like anything with toffee or carmel!

What is Kings Dominion. Details please.

It is a Paramont (sp) owned amusement park just out side of Richmond, VA. It has a water park inside it, about a dozen or so different coasters, a huge kids section, based on Nick I think. It has a kids coaster called Scooby doo that can scare teh piddidle out of an adult, and lots of real cool things. Unlike Busch Gardens here, which is a lot of walking to get between the sections and lots of shows, this is all park. We love it!

I am so glad some definite progress is happening with Cody. You must be relieved, too. I'll be so excited to hear how the boys react to the news of WDW. Yeah!

I *am* getting totally excited! My toe felt better today than it has since I broke it (Monday) and I'm hoping that I don't bang it on anything, etc. so it will continue to feel good. I was starting to get depressed about not being able to walk the parks, but as of this evening, I am able to walk almost normally, without any real pain and very little discomfort. Let's hope it's a trend that continues.
