Our Rockin' Trip to the World~February TR! UPDATE 5/15 ~ LINK TO PTR!!!!!!

Glad it all went quick and he's recovering already! My son (now 16) had tubes put in his ears when he was two and I was shocked as well at how fast the surgery went and how quickly he was running around that afternoon like nothing! :goodvibes

common procedure or not... any time little ones go under general anesthesia, the parents have the right to worry. I glad it went well and he is recovering quick! :goodvibes

I'm glad that Max's surgery went well, and I'm hoping that you had a better day today. With Max's surgery off of your mind, I've got a feeling you did. :)

Hello, everyone. I didn't say too much about this on here since it really isn't that big of a deal...happens to kids all over America...all the time! But Max had his adenoids removed this morning in what was possibly the quickest surgical procedure I've ever seen. Its hard for me to believe (and now I'm showing my age! :lmao:) that they can put you under general anesthesia and have you outta there in under two hours! Crazy. When I had my tonsils and adenoids out, I was in the hospital overnight! :scared1:

There was some risk that he would have to have his tonsils out, too, but those looked good, so they stayed. :woohoo: This means super fast recovery for little Maxie. :yay: Also means he won't have to stay out daycare for two weeks, which would have meant Mark taking two weeks off with no pay! :scared1: Luckily, none of that happened.

He was a bit out of it when he first came into recovery, but since then he's been jumping around and happy.

That's one thing to cross off the list! :goodvibes

Hope everyone is having a magical day... I'm trying! :goodvibes

Yay!:woohoo: What wonderful news! I'm sure you're soooo very relieved:goodvibes:goodvibes. My middle DD had surgery several years ago that lasted three hours and I was a complete wreck! I'm so glad Max did so well. Holy cow, he's already jumping around too? Wow, kids are unbelievably resilient, aren't they? Great news!:thumbsup2

 I'm so glad all went well with Max's surgery.

Thank you! He had fantastic nurses who made him feel very comfortable, and put us at ease, too.

Oh I am so glad it all worked out for Max -a- Million!

And lets hope you can work out a July weekend...I just told Todd that I want to go around 7/14-18 so I can see the Journey and Janet Jackson tribute bands in Epcot

Thanks! Us, too... it was really quick and easy. I kind of can't get over how much so!

Be still my heart! I have been thinking the 19th-26th, but I'm off all month, have no other plans, and am completely flexible...so I could probably switch things around so we could at least meet up again! :woohoo: That would be awesome. And I'd be down for the JJ and the Journey, especially. "Don't Stop Believin'" has been running through my head a lot lately. :goodvibes

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: So good to hear about Max!!!! Extra hugs for the little guy today.

Thank you, Kathy. And wow...you know where you'll be really soon?? So excited for you.

:yay: for Max's surgery going well!!!
I know it's a common procedure but you're always a little ansy when something happens to your little one! So glad it went well! :goodvibes

And how exciting you guys might be going back!! :woohoo:

Thank you! I was mostly worried that he was going to have his tonsils out, as well, which would have been the much bigger deal.

And we'll see about July...fingers are crossed and I shouold know soon!

So glad that things went well and he'll recover soon! I know what you mean about how quick and easy things are now--when my oldest dd got tubes put in her ears (4 yrs ago) the literally took her back, put her under the anesthesia, did the procedure, and brought her back to me within 15 minutes:eek:! We had to stay another hour for her to wake up, but then we were out of there. Amazing! I guess things have come a long way since we were kids!

Thank you! You pretty much described my morning today! :rotfl2: It really was that quick. Amazing.

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally here! Whew! I gotta read yet. :surfweb:

Welcome back, Brook! You've been missed, but I supposed that a two week trip and then recovering from a two week trip is a good excuse!

Glad it all went quick and he's recovering already! My son (now 16) had tubes put in his ears when he was two and I was shocked as well at how fast the surgery went and how quickly he was running around that afternoon like nothing! :goodvibes

Thanks you... little kids are amazingly resilient. The small number of times he's had things like this, I keep thinking he's going to calm down and actually appear a bit under the weather, but he never does. :rotfl:

And you just said the very thing that was at the back of my mind... I just tried not to verbalize it, but I completely agree.

Glad to hear the surgery went well. :thumbsup2 My DD had her tonsils out at age 2 and then her adnoids and tubes put in at age 4. Both times she was up and running around the next day and back in school within 3 days. She still gets the occassional cold but has only had one ear infection since. I will take that over the seizures and fevers she used to have any day!

I'm glad Max made it through so well (and you too! ;))

Hopefully you'll have a delay tomorrow morning but I'm not sure how much snow you are going to get. :confused3

I'm so glad it went well! It doesn't matter how routine it is, it's your child.

I hope July works out but if not, you will be back soon. Honestly, I think it's hardest right after you get back. PDD (Post Disney Depression) hits hard and makes you book trips!

Glad to hear the surgery went well. I'm sure it's a huge relief to have it over with. I was a nervous wreck when Landon had to get an MRI with anesthesia, but he was fine, too. I hope Max will be feeling better now. :goodvibes

So glad Max went in and out of surgery quickly! It IS amazing how quickly things that used to be a major deal are now! And EXTRA big YAY for DH not having to take time off work! :woohoo:

Little kids and their ability to bounce back just amaze me. Max was in excellent spirits today, thanfully!

Thanks...and so much for that snow this morning! :rotfl: We got rain. Which I'm totally OK with. Did you get any snow?

So true...and HEY, LOOK AT MY SIGNATURE! :rotfl2:

Oh, wow...Max had an MRI w/ anesthesia, too. What was Landon's for? Max had his because he has Marcus Gunn Jawwinks Syndrome, which causes a droopy eye lid. That was even scarier, because I was allowed to be with him when they sedated him and let me tell you...no one should have to ever witness a small child pass out like that. Very scary.

So glad Max went in and out of surgery quickly! It IS amazing how quickly things that used to be a major deal are now! And EXTRA big YAY for DH not having to take time off work! :woohoo:

It really is! I know I was in the hospital for at least one night AND I was out of school for awhile. At least a couple of weeks, that's for sure, if not a bit longer. Of course, not only was this back in the dark ages of medicine, but I was much older than Max is now. Thankfully, Max seems to be back to be doing just fine.

So...yeah...look down there...in my signature. Yup, I have a shiny new ticker. :dance3: I knew I would eventually wear my husband down and the news we received today, combined with Max not having to have his tonsils out (just his adenoids), PLUS the new discounts Disney released today mean that we're headed to AKL for a week in July!!
:yay::yay::woohoo::woohoo::dance3::wooho
o::woohoo::yay::yay:

I know...pinch me! I realize (and completely understand) that its a bummer Disney only discounted their Deluxe resorts and not even by that much. But somehow, I was able to book AKL for just about what CSR would have cost, if not a bit less. I went wild on the Disney site, pricing various options.

AKL came back the least expensive.
BWI and BCV were both options, too.
If I stretched a bit, we could have done the Poly, as well.
WL was always an option.
CR was ridiculous, as all they had left was tower MK view rooms
BLT wasn't available at all. :sad1:

I was shocked that I was looking at a list of deluxe hotels, several of which would cost less than my trip to CSR did in February. That's a lot to think about.

I have fond memories of the BC from this summer and our Dismeet/breakfast at Cape May. I was really surprised by how beautiful the place was...don't know what I was expecting...this is Disney, after all! The pictures of Storm-a-long Bay were incredible. And I already knew just how quick that walk to the International Gateway is!

Next, I showed my husband BWI, which he nixed once he saw the pool. Nope, he didn't think the clown was creepy...just thought the pool looked "boring." Point taken.

Then, I showed him AKL pictures and we both just knew. That was it. Transportation worries be damned! If we know one thing after our last trip, its that Max really likes spending time at the hotel room and really enjoyed his kiddie pool at CSR. I truly feel, both from having visited there and looking at more pictures, that AKL is something exceptional. Truly spectacular, even by Disney standards.

In other words, definitely worth the money. There is just something about that place that speaks to both of us...deeply. It isn't just the animals, either, although they are a huge part of it.

So, with the Contemporary definitely out ohttp://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/cloud9.giff the running, AKL it is!

I am so super excited. Its the one resort that just keeps pulling me back! And what yummy restaraunts. I can't wait... pinch me because I can't believe I'm not just dreaming! :cloud9:

So I started to look at pictures. Decided (and I don't mean to offed anyone here who likes it) that WL just does not appeal to me.

]We had an early ADR at Jiko, but first, let me share some pictures of the lovely CSR that I took on our thirty second stroll to bus stop four:

Looking back at our building...I think Karin and Tom’s room ended up being just past that shutter in the lower right hand corner:

On the bus...bear got his own seat:

I’m not sure what it is exactly... maybe its the slightly smoky smell or the grandeur of that ceiling. Maybe its the incredibly warm, friendly CMs we’ve encountered every time we’ve gone there. Perhaps its the delicious meals we’ve eaten there. It might even be the landscaping outside, as we make our way up from the bus.

Speaking of the bus... we took a short ride from CSR to AK and then hopped, almost immediately I might add, onto a bus bound for the AKL. Max promptly proceeded to make friends with a very nice grandfatherly gentleman sitting across from us. Max sat next to him and struck up quite the conversation, as he often does with strangers. I don’t recall what they talked about, but it was so nice to see how congenial and outgoing our son can be. I can only begin to imagine who he will grown into. And Max prompty proceeded to befriend a rather nice gentleman from neighboring Massachusetts while we were on the bus. It was really sweet...and again, one of those moments you know wouldn't happen too many other places, unfortunately.

We walked into that beautiful, majestic lobby and I was just taken. I truly felt like I was someplace else.

AKL is now at the very top of my must-do some day resort list. I think, in fact, it has even eclipsed the Contemporary in my heart, which is shocking as I’ve wanted to stay at the CR since I was a kid!

Max and mommy in the AKL lobby:

This time, I knew enough to head outside before our ADR to check out some animals. We walked out onto Arusha rock and marvelled at the zebras and other exotic animals that were so close to us. Max was not into them all that much. I think he was a bit scared. I’m sure if we had hung around longer, he would have adjusted, though. Even my husband (who can be quite frugal) just shook his head and said, wow...this place is really amazing. Maybe we do have to stay there someday!

Max was a bit scared of the animals, particularly the birds. Thankfully, his day at AK seemed to get him over this fear, but we headed back inside nonetheless.

Next up...dinner at Jiko!

AKL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How wonderful. And while it may be "far far away" it really does have so much right there, between the amazing dining and pool that especially for a family who really wants to enjoy the resort, it seems perfect.

I know they have some cool kids craft stuff and activities as well, I've seen some neat TR's where the kids participated in them.

FUN!

And a fun update, perfect timing in your TR.

Congrats on the big news. AKL is a fantastic choice, I'm sure Max will love it.

We haven't stayed there yet, but we have visited the resort. I love the lobby and the rooms look beautiful. I think the rooms have to be my favorite out of all the deluxes.

:yay::yay::yay:

You just couldn't squeeze the Jiko meal in your update, could you? You had to drag it out a bit longer.
Waiting.......not so patiently.popcorn::

First....so happy that you're going again!!!

Second...you are going to love AKL! It is so beautiful and the CM there are wonderful too! It's my daughter's favorite resort...she loves the pool and when she wasn't in the pool she was on our balcony which overlooked the pool....and she's 18:lmao:

:woohoo: I'm so happy for you that you'll get to visit AKL!!! I'm jealous!

Oh, and "Don't Stop Believin'" is by Journey.

Going back to read the TR chapter you posted.

Wow, your announcement about a July trip is even more special after reading the last chapter! :goodvibes

Hey, I had a bit of deja vu while reading....you might want to look at your post. Some of the pictures and text repeat. ;)

I didn't know the song from this chapter's title. I researched it, but will let someone who really knows it give the answer.
