Our over-planned, 2nd annual WDW trip – lots of pics - Updated on 6/28

Fellow N.E. here, down in CT. Great report, your girls are adorable! We are doing WCC as well so I'll have to make sure we don't get Maverick! I have never been to the rope drop before and am definetly doing it this time

I have never seen those power lines! I love them! Too bad the waiter was not playing it up at the WCC. I really want to try that place sometime! Is the 'skillet' always the same food? I always hear about the skillet.

Welcome! Thanks for subscribing. I have heard such positive reviews on WCC so, don't let my negative review steer you the wrong way. I think Mav just did not feel like playing along. I mean come on, one bottle of ketchup, WCC is known for multiple bottles of ketchup.

Well, the power lines are seen on the highway. I wish I could remember the name or number of the highway, but it is vague. eternaldisneyfan remembers the powerlines because she stayed in Davenport, just like us.

The skillet is an all you can eat barbeque (chicken, pulled pork, ribs, smashed potatoes, and corn on the cob). It was not bad, but the chicken was dry. I liked the pulled pork, DH liked the ribs. I liked the salad as well. I forgot to mention that the kids got worms in dirt for dessert. Here is a picture:

I was going picture crazy last night!

Day 5 – A day of rest

As you recall, Lilo did not sleep too well that night. She coughed all night! When she got up we questioned whether to go to Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch or not. At that point besides the cough, she did not seem too bad. We decided to pack up and meet Lilo and Stitch at the Poly.

When I was a child, my parents took my brother and I to WDW. We stayed at the Poly. This was back in 1979; there was just the MK at that point. They were still building Epcot. When I walked in the door, I remembered the Tropical feel of the Hotel even the waterfall before the entrance, but not too many other specifics. I can honestly say for a deluxe hotel at WDW, I thought that the Poly needed more of an update. For example, I thought that Wilderness Lodge was a much nicer hotel, but the Poly has the Monorail, something the Wilderness Lodge does not have. When we walked out to the pool area, I instantly remembered the pool. I remembered being scared to death going down that slide. The kids would have loved to play in that pool, but we are not resort guests, No can do!

After a brief walk down memory lane, we decided to check in. We took the family photo in Ohana and as usual, I looked Horrible so we did not purchase the photo. We waited in the lobby and our pager went off quickly. We were seated in a nice table next to the window, which was a nice view of the Lagoon. The food was good as it usually is at the character breakfasts. The girls mostly ate the Mickey Waffles and juice. They really liked the juice. Lilo ate her breakfast, so we were thinking that she just came down with a slight bug and was feeling better. We got autographs and took pictures:

We paid for the meal with the remainder of our Reward Dollars and then had to open the wallet because we were completely out of Reward dollars. I would say, that we made good use of the Reward dollars, between meals and souvenirs we saved a lot of money. After the meal we decided to head back to the guest suite. Lilo was looking tired. DH agreed to stay with her and let her take a nap while Aurora and I would have some Mother-daughter time. I asked Aurora what she wanted to do and she wanted to have her hair braided. I asked my Mom where she would go and she suggested a salon down by her house. I basically walked in the door and asked if they could do it and they said sure. She wanted half the head done. The stylist was very good, she did tight, tiny braids through her head. It took quite some time, so by the time we returned to the guest suite, Lilo was awake from her nap and swimming in the pool. We decided to join them and enjoy this beautiful hot, sunny day.

After our swim, we started getting hungry because after all that last time we ate was breakfast. We got changed and decided to give the Golden Corral a try. My parents suggested it, so we gave it a whirl. When we pulled into the parking lot and we noticed a couple getting into their car. DH put the blinker on to wait for their parking space. They stood outside the car with the doors open, chit chatting over the top of the car. We waited and waited, what felt like forever. Finally DH told me to take the kids inside and he would park the car somewhere else. He drove around back and walked into the restaurant and these people were still talking. I am sure glad we did not wait for those losers to finish their conversation and move their car.

Let me tell you, the Golden Corral is another budget-friendly restaurant. Can you tell my parents are retired on a fixed income? They know how to find all the lower cost restaurants. I think the whole family ate at the all can eat buffet for around $20 including drinks. During dinner, Lilo started to have a relapse. She started to get cranky and very needy, so we knew something was wrong. She maybe ate only 1 or 2 bites of her meal, if that and that was it! I felt her head and she felt warm. We offered ice cream or anything, but she wanted nothing to do with food. We left the restaurant and stopped at Walgreens on the way home. I picked up some children’s Motrin, cough syrup, and cough drops, gave her a dose of medicine and put her to bed. We both started to get concerned. First of all, we are on vacation and our daughter is sick. Secondly, I had pre-paid tickets for Hoop-Dee-Doo-Revue for Saturday’s show (This all happened on Thursday). Should I cancel or take my chances and hope she feels better? DH convinced me to take our chances. We still had time to make up our minds before losing our money. Third, the plan was to go to Universal for the day tomorrow (Friday). Well the plan had a hiccup, so we decided to throw the plan out the window and play Friday by ear. We needed to keep our fingers crossed that she would get better.

During the night she woke up cranky, needy and she felt warm so I gave her another dose of Motrin and let her get in bed with us. When I packed for the trip, I packed a small zip lock bag for a first aid kit, Advil & allergy pills (for adults), Band-Aids, Neosporin, and moleskin for blisters. You might think, I would have thought to pack a thermometer or even some children’s Motrin. Nope, Mom did not even consider the possibility of a cold or fever on vacation. The worst part is I did not even think to purchase a thermometer at Walgreens. I never would have thought to have needed a thermometer for the kids while vacationing in WDW. When she woke up, she was still cranky, but she did not feel warm anymore. She still had no desire to eat. As the day progressed she improved. She started to get a little energy and color back in her skin, she did not need any Motrin since the night before when she had a fever, and her appetite was back. We were all super pleased and relieved that she was ok.

We decided to just go to the Outpost across the street from my parents RV Resort. The Outpost is a tourist information center on Route 27 in Davenport. We walked in and they offered to let the kids play a round of putt-putt. The kids were thrilled:

normal_img_0337.jpg

DH was talking up a storm to the Outpost employee that was cleaning the fish tank. You see, DH is an outdoorsmen, he liked learning about different animals and fish that we never see back home. We walked around the Outpost a little a took some more pictures:

The kids loved the plastic alligator! Everything at the Outpost was free and it gave the kids a chance to unwind.

For dinner we decided to lay low and let Lilo recuperate, so we just ordered out from a Pizzeria down the street. We spent the evening driving the golf cart around the Resort and relaxing at the guest suite.

Before Lilo got sick, the plan was to take tomorrow (Saturday) off. We thought we would need a day off after our big day Universal. Well now that Lilo was better and we never made it to Universal, we needed to change plans once again. We decided to skip Universal all together. Maybe next year! We decided that tomorrow (Saturday) we would tackle AK and the Hoop Dee Doo Revue for Dinner!

Ok I'll be the first to admit it. The last installment was not very exciting. Believe me it was not very exciting in FL either. I certainly hope that am not losing you guys. If not, here is the lastest installment. FYI, it is better than the previous one.

Our day at Animal Kingdom
It is time to rise and shine! Of course I was the first one in the shower. The routine was the pretty much the same every day. We wanted to be sure Lilo was still not sick so we left the guest suite later than I would have liked. My intention was to be at AK for rope drop, but that didn't happen. We were in line right there along with all the clusters of people waiting to get in the park. I was pushing the umbrella stroller with Lilo inside while DH and Aurora inched their way toward the gates. You know how it is, follow along as close as you can without hurting someone. There was this family next to me with two boys sitting in the double wide stroller, I was quicker than they were and inched my way in front of the family. Let's say Mom was clearly not pleased that I was in front of her. She ditched her husband and kids and placed herself in front of me. Her husband called her and asked what she was doing. She says, "I was here before they were." Her husband says, I can't go anywhere with this stroller, either you wait with me now or wait all by yourself because I can't go move that fast with this stroller. She let down her guard and stood next to her hubby. I understood her competitiveness and I did feel bad for her family, but she was clearly at a disadvantage with that doublewide.

We FINALLY made our way through the turnstiles. If you are interested, the other Mom with the double wide was right behind me. We headed straight for Expedition Everest. I got in the stand-by line with the girls while DH got 4 fast passes for later. DH met up with us in line. Lilo had zero desire to tackle the Yeti so we agreed to split up and meet up Dinoland. Lilo and I strolled over to Dinoland and rode that Dinosaur ride that only goes in a circle (similar to Dumbo) for what felt like a Bazillion times. On and off, on and off, it never ended. I asked Lilo to walk over to Primeval Whirl, but she was too short. Now I ask you, why is she tall enough for Expedition Everest, but too short for Primeval Whirl? Anyway, I convinced her to take a rest from the circular Dino ride and take up some photo op's:

We were digging for dino-bones when DH and Aurora called looking for us. We met up and headed for Dinosaur. Of course, not without a quick stop for pictures:

normal_img_0376.jpg

normal_img_0377.jpg

We walked onto Dinosaur, Lilo started to get scared and chickened out just before boarding the car. DH let Aurora and I ride while he waited with her. The first time I rode Dinosaur, I was scared to death. This time I knew what to expect so I just looked at the dinosaur, Check out the red-neck photo, we are the two in the back row:

normal_img_0381.jpg

We met up with Lilo and DH in the gift shop and then let DH and Aurora use the child swap pass. As you can see from DH's red-neck photo, he did not appear too scared either:

normal_img_0382.jpg

We then proceeded on over to EE to use our fast passes. Aurora and I rode first. While we were riding, I sent DH on over to the Safari to grab some fast passes for later. I forgot how much I loved this ride. It is absolutely the best roller coaster ever! The theming is incredible, and the ride is soooo smooth. I took the camera onboard and took pictures:

When we got off there was a boy around Aurora's age (9), he asked if the ride was scary. Aurora said, "IT IS AWESOME! You are going to love it. Nothing to be scared of!" Her excitement cracked me up. She convinced the boy because he got right in line.

We met up with DH and let him use the other two FP's. When they got off, we walked over to Kali River Rapids. We literally walked on every single ride up to this point (Kali River Rapids included). As we got seated everyone joked who the wet person would be. I got a little wet on the first waterfall, but DH and Aurora got SOAKED. Yes, they were both the victims of Kali River Rapids.

normal_img_0393.jpg

Somehow Lilo walked off without a drop of water on her. Lets say that DH and Aurora were not pleased at all to be drenched. The two of them became very grumpy. Aurora whined and whined to know end, while DH stood there like a bump on a log and did not say a word. He had a look on his face saying, "Mom this is all your fault." In fact I could have changed his name to Grumpy at this point.

Seeing as Kali River Rapids just put a huge damper on my perfect morning, we decided to pull out lunch and hopefully dry off before the Safari. The park was starting to get super crowded. People were everywhere; it was impossible to find a free park bench. We noticed a stonewall to sit on so we grabbed it. We ate our lunch and sat for a while, but Aurora kept whining, “My skort is all wet, blah, blah, blah.” I asked Grumpy to stay with Lilo while I brought Aurora to the restroom. I told her to airdry herself with the hand dryers in the rest room. She was there for about 8 solid minutes drying her skort, stepping away to allow people to dry their hands every once and while. Finally, she was back to herself. She was dry and happy. Then we met up with Grumpy. I told him to do the same. He did use the restroom, but you know men, he would never listen to me. Instead he decided to stay Grumpy. While we were waiting for Grumpy, you will never believe who we bumped into? You will find out in the next installment. He he.

Hello, I'm still here.

I loved that you beat that woman!! Ha Ha!! Na na na boo boo!! I do that at stoplights.

Once there was this guy in a old muscle car sitting next to me. He was revving the engine.

Mind you I am in a jeep liberty.

I start revving my engine. I thought I was going to die, the kids and I were laughing so hard. Even the guy next to us was laughing!!

O.k. Did they NOT know it was a get wet ride?? They were just jealous you didn't get wet!!

Whiners!!

I'll be waiting for more!

Hi everyone! I did not post the next installment because I am waiting on my husband to upload the pictures for viewing. He should have some time on Wednesday, if not I will post something even if I have to add the pictures later. See ya!

I'll be patiently waiting!!:thumbsup2

I am beginning to think your my only reader. Well, you and my sister in law. She likes it, at least that is what she tells me. Of course she has to be nice to me, she did marry my brother and all. Seriously, Is it that bad? There is a trip report on this board and she has not written an update since 4/22 and she gets more hits to her report than I do. Now I ask you, how come people post to a non-existant trip report? Explain that one to me?

I'am enjoying it I just remain quiet and read it all.

I'm here too wave2:
I'm always a BIG fan of TR with pictures.
Yours has been great!

There they are!! I do the same sometimes. There are a couple reports that I just read, no posts.

I'll hang in til the end!!

Thank you everyone for reading. I thought I lost people along the way. As promised, it is Wednesday.

Animal Kingdom and Hoop Dee Doo Revue

There we were in AK relaxing on the rock wall, out walks a CM from behind a huge fence. She had on one of those yellow shirts with the drawings on it, so I assumed a character was just behind her. Now, you might think it would be Grumpy himself walking from the fence (actually that was what my sister-in-law was expecting). Nope it was Devine! We have never seen her in person and let me tell you she was amazing. I was amazed how she stayed in character with swarms of people around her. She gracefully moved from tree to tree. It was just a wonderful sight. I did take some pictures:

normal_img_0424.jpg

normal_img_0425.jpg

After Devine we packed up and went on the Safari. Now we had FP for the Safari and this must have been the longest fast pass line creation. We must have waited 20-30 in the fast pass line. I really felt bad for all of those stand-by people because their line did not move at all. The people in line behind us had the cool Dream Fast Passes, I was literally drooling over them and asking all kinds of questions like, how did you get them? Did you use the Everest FP yet? Blah, Blah…. They really were not too friendly, all they said was that they gave out on some ride and did even mention which ride. Yes, they used Everest. Then I heard them say, “we have to go pick up someone up at the airport” and left the long Safari line. Now do you think since they were leaving for airport, they would be friendly people and pass the dream fast passes onto the friendly guests in front of them? NOOOOOOOO, they just walked out of line with the dream fast passes around their neck. I was so disappointed. I am not bitter about that one either. Next behind us is a family from CT, they spot DH’s Red Sox shirt and strike up a conversation.

CT family: Are you from New England?
DH: Yes
CT family: We are from CT and we love the Red Sox. In fact, I almost named my son Damon. Good thing I didn’t or we would have another curse on our hands.

The conversation continued about Red Sox players and stats. Something, I don’t know anything about. The minute this CT family started talking to DH about the Red Sox, his tune changed from Grumpy to Cheerful. Go Red Sox!!!! All I have to say is, I am sure glad the Grumpiness wore off. After an extremely long Red Sox conversation we finally boarded the Safari Truck. The girls loved the Safari and DH took lots of pictures:

We then proceeded over to the Maharajah Jungle Trek to visit a friend of my parents. At first we asked one of the College kids if she knew Patty. The College kid says, “I don’t know her, but ask one of the old CM’s, they’ll probably know her.” I was horrified that she used the word “old” to describe people in their 60’s. This college kid looked like she had a rough night partying the night before. She was clearly just there to collect a check, not to entertain kids. Needless to say we found Patty without the assistance of the college kid. Patty is really nice, she explained all about the Lizard to the kids. She is wonderful with kids. Patty laughed at the response of the college kid. Everyone, Say Hi to Patty:

We said our goodbyes and walked over to Everest to use our final set of FP’s. Oh how I love this ride!

Then we proceeded over to It’s tough to be a bug. Lilo was so funny, she was trying to catch bugs flying in front of her. We were laughing. I thought that she would be scared, but she liked the show. After the show, we were just exhausted. The kids wanted a drink so we bought them each one and departed the park. It really was a great day, just way too crowded after lunch.

normal_img_0455.jpg

When we returned to the guest suite, my muscles were sore so I told DH, I would take the golf cart up to the hot tub with the kids. I tried relaxing in the hot tub, but the kids started fighting. You know fighting over who is sitting next to the best air jet in the hot tub. Then splashing. Just plain old annoying one another. To the point where I had to pack up and head back to the guest suite because I was tired of yelling at them.

We decided to leave early for our ADR since we were very unsure about bus transfer from Fort Wilderness to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. We got to the bus station and it was the biggest bus station ever. Buses were pulling in and out and we did not have a clue where to go or what to do. DH told me to stay with the kids while he would ask someone. While sitting there, the family next to me was panicking big time, they were late for Mickey’s Backyard BBQ and were not sure if they would let them in late or not. They hopped on a bus while I waited for DH. DH came back and knew which bus we needed. We got on and while sitting there on the bus I was still feeling achy. I said, “gee I wish I had an Advil or something because I am sore.” Let me tell you that achy feeling did not get better with time. In fact, it got extremely worse. As we stood in line I was certain that Lilo contaminated me with her illness. I was the one doing all the complaining at this point. I felt like crap. This was our conversation:

Me: I am going to walk around to find a store for some Advil
DH: Now?
Me: Yes, I feel like crap and I need something
DH: They are about to let us in. What about our tickets, they are all together. I don’t want to split up and have one of us not be able to get in.
Me: Sigh

I sucked it up. They opened the doors to the Hoop Dee Doo and it was an absolute ice chest inside there. It was seriously one extreme to the other. The dramatic temperature fluctuation did not do anything for my illness. I was going nowhere but down hill fast! I looked around the room and considered asking another Mom if she happened to have packed an Advil or Tylenol in her purse, but I could not muster up the courage to interrupt their family get together. So I sat there like a bump on a log with the chills waiting for the show to start. It was bad, really bad. I wanted to leave; I did not care if it was pre-paid. If this was the same cold Lilo had, I can understand why she was so needy and grouchy.

The show started and Aurora was just a riot. She laughed so loud. She loved every minute of the show. Quite honestly, Lilo was just too young, she just sat back a watched the show. She did comment on the pretty dresses the ladies were wearing.

I ordered some tea to drink to warm me up, but it did not do any good, it really was cold in there. Lilo had on a sundress and she was shivering. She plumped herself in Daddy’s lap so that he could keep her warm. The show went on and on, it felt like we were there all night. I barely ate any of the food, I had no desire to eat, but I picked at the food seeing as we just dropped a small fortune for Category 1 seats. I could not give you a fair evaluation of the food because I felt horrible.

Bare with me, I can’t remember many details of the show, nor can I remember anyone’s name but there was this scene with this couple that was a riot. One of the ladies in the show took a liking to a gentleman in the audience; we’ll call him Fred because I can’t remember his name. Now Fred was in his late 50’s and he was completely bald. Fred was there with his wife celebrating their 2nd wedding anniversary. The character would rub her braids on his baldhead, and pick on him through the entire show. It was pretty funny and his wife found it to be down right hilarious. The woman was practically rolling around on the floor.

normal_img_0461.jpg

Well, the show finally ended and we had to take a bus back to the car. While I sat on the park bench I told DH that I did not want to get him sick as well, I would sleep in Lilo’s twin bed and he could share the big bed with Lilo. When we got home the first thing I did was run to the medicine chest and grabbed one of my Dad’s prescription strength Motrin pills. I needed the high-tess meds. Then I went straight to bed. As I laid there, every single muscle in my body ached, I could not think of one single area that felt good. I prayed that I would be better in the morning because tomorrow would our last park day. I heard DH yell from the doorway, what time are we getting up for rope drop? I glared him the look of death, he laughed and went to bed as well. How will I ever make it through the night or the parks tomorrow? Find out in the next installment.

:headache: Feeling bad at Disney stinks.... sorry the night was a blur... and a costly one at that!

Oh no!
Hope you felt a little better on your last day- being sick at home is bad enough- being sick on vacation is 10 times worse

What a bummer! I'm so sorry you didnt get to enjoy the show. At least your day in the park was nice.

I just have one other thing to say........ Go Tigers!!
