So here we are again, another Friday. Which also means another Friday closer to Disney!

So, I didn't quite get to finish my last post about the Food and Wine Festival, so I figured I'd re-post that and finish it. These are all the foods I'd like to try from all the booths that aren't desserts (there are a lot):
Argentina: Beef Empanada (never had one) and the Grilled Beef Skewer with Chimichurri Sauce and Boniato Puree (no idea what the sauce is or what Boniato is, but I'll try it!)
Australia: Shrimp on the Barbie (not normally a huge fan of shrimp, but I may give this a shot anyway), Grilled Lamb Chop (I love lamb), Lamington (sounds delicious, so I'll give it a go)
Belgium: Steamed Mussels in a beer broth with baguette (love mussels)
Brewer's Collection: Probably won't try anything here because I'm not a huge beer drinker, but you never know
Canada: Cheddar Cheese Soup (my mom used to make an awesome broccoli and cheese soup, so I just have to try this), "Le Cellier" Filet Mignon (a must try, I may have had this or something similar in 2008). I also have to point out that the Moosehead Beer that's being offered here is made here in Halifax

I think it's kinda neat.
Caribbean Islands: Ropa Vieja with Cilantro Rice (have no idea what this is, but I'll try it because I probably won't get the chance again), Jerk Spiced Chicken Drumstick with Mango Chutney (sounds awesome)
Cheese: Trio of Artisan Cheeses (I love cheese)
Craft Beers: I'll probably skip this one too
Desserts and Champagne: See previous post I'll probably end up trying some of the drinks too
Fife and Drum: Will probably skip this one, not sure what Jim Beam is
Florida: White Corn Arepa with Mangalitsa Pork Rilette and Zellwood Sweet Corn Salad (don't know what corn arepa is, also don't know what pork rilette is, but I'll give it a go anyway), I may try some of the beverages here too, but not sure about it yet
France: Escargots (a little nervous of this, but we'll probably try it anyway), Coq au Vin sur Gratin de Macaroni (I'm sure this will be good), Créme Brûlée au Chocolat au Lait (how can I resist?)
Germany: Schinken Nudel (will give it a shot), Roast Bratwurst in a Pretzel Roll (will try it, mostly for the pretzel roll ), Apple Strudel with Karamel-Vanilla Sauce (yum)
Greece: Griddled Greek Cheese with Pistachios and Honey (again with the I love cheese), Chicken Souvlaki with Tzatziki (love both of these things), Spanakopita (love this)
Hawaii: Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour Dole Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayonnaise (sounds awesome)
Hops and Barley: Will probably take one of everything, though it's going to have to be pretty impressive lobster to wow us, the lobster we get here is usually really good. I may even try the beer here, some of it sounds appealing to me.
Ireland: Will probably just get the lava cake, Guinness, and the Mead Honey Wine
Italy: Baked Cheese Ravioli, Creamy Beef Bolognese, Parmesan, Mozzarella (has a fancier name, but sounds awesome)
Japan: Spicy Hand Roll, Karaage Hand Roll, California Roll, Sukiyaki Beef Pan (we love sushi and Japanese food)
Mexico: Crispy Shrimp Taco with Chipotle Lime Mayo and Cabbage Served on a Flour Tortilla, Taco de Filete with Cascabel Pepper Sauce and Scallions Served on a Flour Tortilla (we don't have many mexican restaurants here so I'm excited to try the stuff here)
Morocco: Kefta Pocket, Merguez Sausage, Baklava (all sound delish)
New Zealand: Seared Sea Scallop with Kumara Red Curry Puree and Apple Radish Salad, Lamb Meatball with Spicy Tomato Chutney (I'll probably try the lamb, while my fiance tries the scallops)
Poland: Kielbasa & Potato Pierogie with Caramelized Onions and Sour Cream (I love Kielbasa, it's pretty much the only sausage I'll eat, so I'm pretty excited for this), Zapiekanki-Toasted Mushroom, Caramelized Onion and Cheese Bread with House Made Ketchup (not a huge fan of mushroom, but I'll give it a shot)
Scandinavia: Swedish Meatballs with Lingonberries (dunno what Lingonberries are, but I'll try them!)
Singapore: Beef Rendang with Jasmine Rice, Seared Mahi Mahi with Jasmine Rice and Singa Sauce (love Mahi Mahi)
South Africa: Seared Filet of Beef with Smashed Sweet Potatoes and Braai Sauce, Spinach and Paneer Cheese Pocket (all new to us, but sounds good!)
South Korea: Lettuce Wrap with Roast Pork and Kimchi Slaw (sounds interesting)
Terra: Trickn Chickn Curry with Basmati Rice featuring Gardein Chickn Breast, Chili Colorado with House Made Chips & Cashew Cheese, featuring Gardein Beefless Tips, Chocolate Cake with Passion Fruit Sorbet and Coconut Foam (it all sounds amazing!)
So there you have it, the 2012 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival will both make us completely broke, and fat
My take on it though, is that we may not get a chance to experience it again so we have to make the best of it while we can. Also, while I would love to try everything here, like I said I would, it realistically may not happen. You only have so much room in your stomach
I also have to digress for a minute here. I'm not sure what Canada has offered in the past, in terms of food at the festival, but there are a few gems they really should include, and I think some should be on a permanent basis
.
POUTINE! French fries, gravy, and cheese. Need I say more?
The cheese is technically supposed to be cheese curds, but not all places that make poutine use them (and therefore the poutine isn't quite as good, I think). It's a heart attack waiting to happen, but it's so good! (you can also get fancy versions from a place called Smoke's Poutinerie) The picture below has cheese curds, not grated motzza cheese. I also didn't take it (or any of the pictures that will follow
Beaver Tails. See an earlier post I made about this (Beautiful Non-Disney Weekend).
Donairs. These are an East Coast thing here in Canada. If you go to Toronto or Vancouver, you won't be able to find one, at least not the same way we have them here. They are essentially some kind of meat (really not sure if it's lamb or beef, which is kinda scary, and why I don't often eat them
) roasted on a spit, shaved off onto a pita, add onions and tomatoes, and the donair sauce (which is a white sauce, very garlicky, and sweet). These aren't for everyone, including me. I can only handle a small amount of one, but I know people who could eat them every day

Garlic Fingers. Why can't you get these anywhere else?! It's a simple concept. Pizza dough, coated with garlic butter, and covered in cheese. Cut into fingers rather than pizza wedges, and dip them in donair sauce (see above) or pizza sauce. In fact, we had some last night with our pizza
The unfortunate thing about all of these foods are that they are all terrible for you, in a bad way, but they are oh so tasty. If you ever visit Nova Scotia or one of the Maritime Provinces in Canada, you should give them a shot.
In other Disney-related news, the new Fantasyland Expansion now has an opening date!
It's not until December though. That doesn't make me
or
. I'm actually pretty indifferent about it. While I would love to see it, that's not why we're going, nor did we have anything planned concerning it. If we somehow happen to have lady luck on our side, and a little
maybe we'll get to see a soft opening, but I'm by no means counting on it. A lot of people seem to be upset that it won't be open until December, but that's the thing with this stuff...you can't plan for them until they have a date when they're set to open.
Oh well, maybe I'm a bad DISser for thinking this.
So before I go, just wanted to mentioned that I booked our parasailing today! Right now it's set for November 7th at 1pm.
