you could start a bonfire in a trash can! just a little joke. i've never been to NYC but i plan to go very soon. my sister is moving to connecticut in 2 weeks and she's 45 minutes from boston and 2 hours from NYC. i've never been to either so i'm totally planning a trip for maybe next spring!

now on with the TR.........

last i left you we had just gotten off aladdin's magic carpets and were headed to get a dole whip. well, as we came up to aloha isle i noticed a sign nearby that said something about "meet captain jack sparrow here!" i looked at my watch and it was around 6:45, so i knew that the party "officially" started in 15 minutes. there was already a line to meet him, so i figured if we were gonna do it, we might as well hop in line now because it would only get worse. so anna, luke and me got in line while chris and ray went to get us dole whip floats. we were gonna meet captain jack!!!

i don't mean to criticize and i'm all for getting into the spirit of things, but there were these girls in front of us in line that just looked ridiculous. i don't know why it's necessary to have your skirt so short....how do you ride anything???? and if i had a toddler i don't know how close i'd let them get to this girl - they are at the perfect height to get a shot of something they might not want to see!!! anna wanted a picture of her and so we pretended like she was taking a picture of my dole whip float and got her in the background.

at 7:00 p.m. sharp they opened the doors. the waiting area was really neat!

there was a well that had jewels and coins all over it. luke had fun with that until a CM made him get off of it! there were other kids up there when he went up so we thought it would be okay. but as soon as the CM told him to get down we made sure he didn't get up there again.

here's a video ray took as we were walking into the queue area. please ignore the end.......he's been through puberty - i swear!



after we waited in this room about 20 minutes a couple of CMs came out and let us through a black curtain, where we come around a corner and into a room where captain jack is. here's the video........



isn't captain jack so dead on?????? not quite as smokin hot as johnny depp but his mannerisms are just like him!

i see captain jack!

anna, chris and luke were first to meet captain jack. as soon as it was their time to go up, luke lost his nerve and totally wouldn't move! anna had to pick him up to take him over to meet captain jack. he loves the movies, so we have no idea why he did this. there was just something about this captain jack that he wasn't having!!!!



at the end of that video you can see the black X markers that they placed all around the park. these were where we went to pick up our booty bags with our jewels and beads. even the adults got booty bags. so much fun!

here are the pics we got of their encounter with captain jack.......

next it was our turn to meet him!!! he asked where we were from and i told him, then he asked how long we were in town for and i told him, "we're leaving tomorrow. that's kinda stinky." and he goes (in his captain jack voice), "ohhhhhhhhhh, yyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeesss.........that IS rather stinky!!!!"

after our awesome time meeting captain jack, we went back to the hub for some pictures. anna wanted a picture in front of the castle before the sun went down.

can anyone tell me exactly what this is??????? it's not a rabbit. it's not a squirrel. is it some weird disney mutant rabbit?

luke decided he didn't want to be in the picture.

the beginning of this update is on the previous page!

we decided to head towards splash mountain and on the way we ran into meeko from pocahontas. luke wanted to meet him and there was NO line, so of course we stopped.

anna said something about pocahontas being her favorite movie while luke was meeting meeko and the CM that was with meeko said, "well, mama has to get a picture with meeko, too, then!!!"

we made our way over to splash mountain and there was NO wait!!! at this point it was around 7:45, so i guess most of the non-party guests were gone.

i got out my poncho again and everyone made fun of me. at the last minute, anna decided she wanted one too, so i gave her one and she just threw it over her. i told chris i'd warn him again when we were coming to the big drop. we were afraid it would freak luke out and he wouldn't want to ride anything else. well, he LOVED it! i think he loved the getting wet part more than anything.

this is one of my FAVORITE pictures from our trip!!! luke is just so cute - kinda scared but not really. and anna is screaming like she's just going to DIE! and of course i'm super cool in my poncho.

at the end the CMs asked if we wanted to ride again because there was NO ONE around, but at that point it was around 8:10 and the parade was starting at 8:30, so i knew we better head off to get a spot. ray and i ran ahead of everyone else and found a decent spot for the parade in frontierland. i called anna and they found us in no time.

up next.......THE BEST PARADE I'VE EVER SEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please be patient with this next installment. i plan to show you the entire parade on video, which will take me awhile since i'll have to do it in short sections. it was so good, though, you NEED to see it. i will do the same with the fireworks, which were absolutely unbelievable.
