Our Magical WDW Adventure ~ 23 Days of Fun, Food, Cocktails... London Trip 2/8

Melissa ~ Yes I heard about 9 to 5 from her website, it sounds really funny. Its based on the fil isn't it? I bet its a hoot to watch  I can't believe they have made Legally Blonde in to a show too, have you seen that one? My friend went to NY with the school and they got to see that and she said it was great which is kind of surprising. We Will Rock You actually has a rather lame storyline, the first time I went to see it I was like "What?". Its set in the future and proper music has been banned and everyone left are basically clones, except the 2 main characters. They then meet up with this group called the Bohmemians who have been banished by the killer queen and try to save the music. It is really funny and although the storyline is quite stupid the music and dancing is so good, probably the best we have seen. If you like rock music and Queen I am sure you would love it :thumbsup2. I cannot believe they have a Shrek musical, that must be funny. And I really want to see Wicked too.

Ok so spill, who was really nice and more importantly who was horrible :confused3. And what was 30 Rock?

9 to 5 is based on the movie. It's getting great reviews. It started in LA and people said it was a really fun show! We saw Legally Blonde in September. They put it on one of our theater clubs and my mom, dad, aunt, uncle and little cousin all sat in the 10th row for $4.50 each. Literally 4 dollars and 50 cents. It was awesome! The show was HILARIOUS! One of the funniest shows I've seen in a while. I'm not into the cutesy, pink, MTV stuff but we all loved every minute of it. The music was really good, too! I was definitely surprised!

30 Rock is just the building. NBC is located in 30 Rockefeller Plaza, in Rockefeller Center. 30 Rock is also a popular TV show over here about a fictional late night show that's supposed to be at NBC, like SNL. I just meant the building though

I'm caught up again. This working thing is killing my DIS time, major!!! Your decorations are GREAT Ariel. I love the fireplace the best! Your mantel is beautiful. It sounds like you had a great time in London with your friends. I hope you are feeling better now. I saw that you weren't doing so hot the other day. Bummer that your computer got a virus too!
As far as shopping in America, I love JC Penny or Kohl's. I always find great deals there. I don't know if you have those stores in England or not?

Hey girl!! Oh my gosh, I love your decorations!!!! I would be in tigger heaven around your tree!!!!! I love it!!

I love all of your decorations and your wrapped presents are gorgeous! I haven't even seen Santa do that well with wrapping! ;)

Ah right 30 Rock makes sense then. There is just so much to learn, who ever knew :rolleyes1

Right so that is 2 more shows I have to put on my list of 'must see's' when I came to New York, I am never going to have time for all of the ones I want to see though :sad1:. I love the film Legally Blonde, it is one of my all time favorites, so I think I might love that show. And Sophie would love 9 to 5, she watched the film recently and loved it, and loves Dolly Parton too. And $4.50 that is so cheap, you get some great deals. The cheapest ticket we have ever got for the West End was £60 BOGOF.

Hi, I'm glad you have a bit of free time to Dis still, else that would suck :rolleyes1. I love the mantel too, I cant help but smile when I look at it with all the Disney cuddleys there. Next year I think I will add some lights to the garland on it though so it sparkles a bit more, I love twinkling lights :goodvibes

I'm still feeling pretty rough, I tried to sleep it off today but it didn't help much. I'm just hoping it will be gone by next Tuesday which is when we are traveling to my Mum's house. I don't want to be responsible for giving it to anyone else. At least it isn't affecting my ability to Dis though

No we don't have JC Penny or Kohl's here. I think apart from like the big designer names we have little of the same shops. The only ones I can think of are H&M, Clares, The Body Shop, The Sunglass Hut, oh and we have a supermarket called Asda which is the same company as Walmart.

Hey girl!! Oh my gosh, I love your decorations!!!! I would be in tigger heaven around your tree!!!!! I love it!!

I told you I love Tigger too. I have like a million Tigger mugs too, I love drinking from them :thumbsup2

He he thanks :goodvibes

Hi Ariel,
I love your tree and all Christmas decorations. Your gifts look great too! I was reading some of the PP above. Kaylee and I really want to go see Wicked. I think she is finally big enough. I thought about trying to get me and her cheap flights to NYC :goodvibes to go see some shows. We have seen Beauty & The Beast (twice) and Lion King on broadway and they were fabulous. I would love to see Little mermaid and Mary Poppins sometime too. So funny the previous post mentioned NBC. My FIL worked at NBC until he retired a few years ago.

Thanks. My kitties are driving me crazy tonight, running around the tree, knocking everything off, knocking all the presents :sad2:

I think, may be wrong, but that Melissa's Dad works for NBC too. I would have loved to have seen Beauty and the Beast, can't believe I missed it. I have seen Lion King twice on the West End and it is so beautiful, I love it. I think it may be ending soon so will have to try and see it again. You should definitely take Kaylee to see Little Mermaid, Sophie and I are dying to see it. We were suppose to go to NYC in August this year and had planned to go and watch Little Mermaid and Lion King so gutted we missed that :sad1:. We have seen Mary Poppins in the West End too and that was brilliant, especially the Supercalifragiliousciousexpealadocious song . How long is the flight from you to NYC then?

I feel like I am neglecting my PTR a bit but with Christmas very quickly sneaking up on us , and Disney being beyond incredibly frustrating with the silly changes in their ADR system :headache:, I have little updates in the way of planning. Hopefully after Christmas I will be able to get our ADR's and tours booked and then things can get rolling again

Unfortunately Legally Blonde closed this past October :sad2: Broadway isn't doing well at all now, with the economy being how it is. A ton of good shows are closing, including Tony-winners and really popular ones like Hairspray, Spamalot and Spring Awakening :headache:

Don't worry! Get yourself feeling better and have fun! Those should be your only priorities right now. I'm in the same boat with my report. I plan on posting an update tonight but it's just a bunch of Hanukkah pictures, nothing Disney related  Do you know when Disney's system is supposed to be back up?

I'm sure the shows like Hairspray will be re-done again in a few years. We always have shows like that coming and going. In the last year we have had Grease, Dirty Dancing and Joseph all come back. Its strange as I would have thought Grease would have been one of the most popular ones and one that would permanently be around, whereas the Queen show is so random but is now in its 8th year or something crazy like that.

No I dont at the moment. They keep changing the dates and telling people different things. First it was suppose to be 1st December, then mid December, then the 20th, I was told mid-January by a CM, someone else end of December, so who knows :confused3

Hi Ariel! Merry Christmas from Maryland! I hope you and Nick have a great holiday with your family!! Hope you'll be feeling better soon.
Your kittens and your Christmas tree are making me laugh... our Lab, Tanner, does the same thing but with her tail! I had to put the unbreakable ornaments on the bottom of the tree. One swish of her tail and they go flying! :lmao:

Happy Christmas to you too from England :santa:. I am feeling a bit better today thank you and my Mum and sisters were cheering me up on the phone earlier so I am looking forward to getting home to see them :grouphug:

The kitties were so good with the tree last year but this year they just cannot resist. Scamp is the worse, running in and out, hiding behind the presents so we can't get to him, hes a crafty kittie :cat:

He he dogs are funny. Normally they are not as interested in the trees themselves but they can't help knocking them with their tales. At least if Honey is knocking the tree she isn't whipping our legs like usual :headache:

The flight is just under 2 hours to NYC, so not long. It was much nicer when we had a 90 minute drive though ;) . We used to be able to go see shows or shop in NYC whenever we wanted. Mary Poopins sounds wonderful, thanks for telling me. That was my favorite movie as a child but Princesses and Tink were not popular when I was little  . I'm guessing you weren't able to make ADR's :sad2: today. Anyway I wouldn't worry about updating, we all know you are busy with holiday stuff and recovering from sickness. Hope you feel better and your that your cats give the tree a rest

I am feeling quite a bit better today thank you :goodvibes

OMG my older sister Kate was obsessed with Mary Poppins when we were children, it was her favorite film ever. She read the books, watched the film every day, and from it came our family love (and slight obsession) with Dick Van ****. Oh and I love Julie Andrews too, she is in my all time fave film Sound of Music :lovestruc. I was worried that since we loved the film that the show may not live up to it, especially since it didn't have Dick or Julie Andrews, but they based it more on the books rather than the film so we tended not to compare, which meant we could just enjoy it well. It was great as in the programme we got at the show it told us all about how the stories were brought and made into the Disney film, and how it nearly got pulled as the writer didn't like it. That means we were close to never knowing Mary Poppin's and the fabulous Bert (with his brilliant British accent ).
When I was younger it was quite the same, princesses were not a big thing, just the film of the time and the Mickey characters. Princesses seem to be quite a recent thing.

No, no luck with the ADR's today, hopefully soon though :confused3

It's o.k. This is a busy time of year for everybody. I do love that you say Happy Christmas. My DS was just quoting Harry Potter tonight when Ron and Harry are saying Happy Christmas to each other. :)
So, I might have a hard time making ADR's right now??

He he another one of those language differences. When I first read it I wondered what you guys say instead, and then read a few posts up. Its what we generally use over here, the majority of cards say 'Happy' rather than 'Merry' and most people say it too.

I don't think they are taking ADR's till mid-January. I may try and phone in the next few days and will keep my ears open and if I hear anything I will let you know :thumbsup2

Hey girl!!!!

Just checking in with you!!

Heya, how are you?

I was talking to my Mum on the phone earlier and Sophie was in the background. Sophie doesn't really like speaking on the phone, and hasn't spoken to me since I have been sick (to be fair they only found out today), but my Mum told her that since I have been sick that I hadn't managed to get her any presents. Sophie was like "Oh I don't mind, as long as I get Sammie I don't mind if I don't get anything else" :lovestruc. She is so cute, I just wanted to hug her there and then

Sophie is just so sweet! We are down in Ohio now visiting with Justin's family for Christmas. When are you going home?? Are you going to be there for awhile, or just a quick trip?
