Our Magical WDW Adventure ~ 23 Days of Fun, Food, Cocktails... London Trip 2/8

Hello there.....All this tv talk is making me crack up! :happytv: I think I told you once before that I like to watch BBC America, love Top Gear---I know you said Nick watches it too, a new season (don't know how up to date it is, we always seem to be wayyyy behind) just started last night.....my favorite of all is Doctor Who! I really have a thing for David Tennant! :lmao: :lovestruc Also like The Catherine Tate Show, Gavin and Stacy, Torchwood and You are What You Eat and How Clean is Your House just for the gross out factor!:rotfl:

And as for British movies, two of my (and my nieces/nephews) favorites is Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. We love Simon Pegg. mmmm....now I must daydream about David Tennant!

Hey Tracy, how have you been lately :wave2:

If you love Simon Pegg have you seen Run Fatboy Run with Thandie Newton. Its quite a sweet and funny film. As for Top Gear I have to watch it practically every day, Nick loves it so much. He has all the DVD's and books, and then all Jeremy Clarkson's books. Have you ever read any, they are so funny  His Motorworld book along with Bill Bryson's Notes on a Big Country are 2 of the funniest and best books I have ever read, I love them. We have a new series being aired over here at the moment. I think by the second or third episode Clarkson was in trouble again for being controversial. He loves to cause a stir that bloke. Do you know what happened in the last episode you watched?

Ok so whats the difference between Law and Order and CSI then? Oh they also play Monk, and a few other crime type dramas, I'm not entirely sure what I just saw a few adverts earlier :confused3. As for the ones you mentioned that play on Hallmark over there, I'm pretty sure we don't get them. Its so confusing, we get the same channels but they play completely different shows

Yes we have has Sex and the City since it came out. It has switched channels quite a bit, I think its on Paramount comedy now. I don't watch it religiously but when its on I enjoy it. My sister loves it though, I think she wants to be Carrie

Don't worry I love TV far too much too. Oh and the net... those can't be healthy obsessions. If only I loved the gym as much :rolleyes1. My favorite shows, thats hard there is so many. It would have to be CSI (Vegas the best), Criminal Minds, Scrubs, The Gilmore Girls and Neighbours... oh and call me mad but The Girls Next Door :upsidedow. I love Friends so much, and Will and Grace, but have seen them so many times so have stopped watching them for a bit. Then theres The Closer, Without a Trace, Hollyoaks (UK teeny type soap), King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond, 2 and a half Men, Diagnosis Murder, Murder She Wrote... the list goes on...

 Law and Order and CSI are just two different crime shows. They both have lots of different versions, but they're on rival networks. They're really about the same thing though. Did that site I sent you work?

Ah right I get it. I haven't checked it out yet, sorry, but will do in a second.

What is your favorite shopping center to visit?

What are your favorite American shops for *Clothes, shoes and jewelery **Homeware ***Make-up and bath stuff

What do you collect from Orlando - both Disney and non-Disney?

What are your must-buy souvenirs?

What are your favorite Disney shops?

So I don't really have a favorite shopping center to visit in Orlando since I just stick to Disney. So, um Downtown Disney?? :rolleyes1

American Shops: Express, The Limited, New York & Company, Nordstrom, Banana Republic for Clothes. Wal-Mart for everything else. I LOVE Wal-Mart! :lovestruc

I used to collect figurines from the shops at Disney when I went. I have only a few (Tickerbell, Sorcerer Mickey, Minnie, Tigger and maybe one or two more). Since I don't really have anywhere to put them, I had stopped. Now, I get an ornament for our Christmas tree :santa: everytime we go. Last year I bought a really nice set that had each of the 4 park "symbols" - Castle, Tree of Life, Spaceship Earth, and Sorcerer's Hat. I add a new one to our tree every year. This year we only have the Epcot and Tree of Life ones up. Next year we will add the Castle. They had all kinds of interesting ornaments and I wish I could get them all, but I only limit myself to one each trip.

Two years ago, I started collecting pins. Everyone thinks I am such a dork for doing it, but I think it's fun. I don't actually trade any of them, but just buy one or two each trip. I have requirements: there must be a moving part on it (I have one with all of the characters on the Safari truck and the wheels move, another is Mickey playing the guitar - pin is for R&RC - and his hand slides up and down the guitar), and I must rotate parks where the attraction is. Pin collecting shouldn't be this hard, right? :rolleyes1 The first trip, I got a Peter Pan's Flight pin (MK) and then I got a Segway Tour Pin from Epcot. So the next trip, I got the Safari Pin from AK and following I got the R&RC pin (MGM). If there are significant events that are going on during that trip, I will get a pin for that too (ie - 50 yrs. of Disney Parks or hunting around for a pin that actually said MGM Studios on it since it was going to change the name). If there are no rules, then I would buy everything!!!

So my favorite Disney Shops (if you couldn't guess) are:

Pin Hut in DTD
Christmas Store in DTD/MK
Memories Store in DTD just because I like to Scrapbook. But they are going to or already have changed it to something else.
England in Epcot for Curly Wurlies...and I have always debated getting a heritage "name" plaque where it explains the heritage of my last name before I got married(which is English!!)

I know you collect a ton of great souviners. Do you put all of your magnents on your fridge? Is there even space left? I would love to see what that looks like!!!

CoP Luv ~ I love Disney Christmas ornaments. We have a few on the tee at the moment but they are from the Disney Store or DLP as they are a lot easier to get home. However I am becoming quite accustomed to transporting fragile objects from the US so am determined to buy a few on our next visit.

We made the silly mistake of starting to collect pins too. We don't trade either, although I have got a few spare ones in case we happened to see one we really liked. I wanted to get a few for Nick's stocking as traders but forgot when we were in DLP :sad1:. We don't tend to collect any specific ones like you (your choice is kind of funny, not one I have heard before :thumbsup2), we just get any that we like. Thats probably our problem as we now have far too many.

As for fridge magnets our fridge is only small (we don't have one of the great, huge ones with the ice machines on like you guys have over there) so it was pretty much full before we went last time. I don't know if I have a picture, I will try and look one out, but I have some of the magnets and pins we got last time:

Yes I have seen Run Fat Boy Run! Very cute! Simon just cracks me up! :rotfl:

Top Gear from this week (it airs on Monday) was the boys trying out their version of police cars that they bought and modified a bit. There was also a Toyota Prius that did worse in gas mileage than a BMW. I looked on the website and it said season eleven episode 1. I have also been listening to BBC Radio 1 in the mornings on my way to work (Sirius radio) and it always makes me laugh. Jeremy was on last week and he was getting yelled at by someone calling in :lmao:

I will check out his books as you recommended....perhaps I will try Amazon or ebay. I had previously looked on BBC America website for the magazine and it was $165/year!! Even Doctor Who DVD's are around $95 at the bookstore

Love all of your pins...I just had some delivered today for my niece Brielle (the one who travels with me most often.) She has over two full laynards and loves the Haunted Mansion so I got her a few of those and some black/red (the winter fuzzy mammoth ones) Mickey Crocs and a few Mickey necklaces. The rest of my nieces/nephews I think I will just give money. She is the only fun one left to shop for! Well that is because she only wants Mickey santa: and that is fine by me!!

My trip is coming up so I have been getting really excited...I have never been to WDW in January so I am really happy about leaving the cold weather behind for a week.

Take care! :goodvibes

Oh not long for you to go, that is so exciting. We went in January the first time I went with my Mum. We loved the low crowds, everything was walk-ons, and the weather in the day was so lovely and warm. Do be warned though that the evenings can get pretty chilly, so wrap up warm

It sounds like you have got Brielle some really nice presents. I love buying Disney gifts, it always so exciting. Especially if you have a trip coming up just after. And it means when Christmas is over and everyone is sad, you still have something just as good to look forward too.

Have you ever seen the Top Gear Winter Olympics, that one is so, so funny. I love the special ones they do, they are so much fun. They did one where they came to America too and had to buy a car for about $1000 and drive across America in it. It was so, so funny, they even got shot at. And they have done one in Africa too. Oh then there are the ones where Jeremy races the other 2 in a car whilst they take planes and trains and boats. They have done a few of those and they are always so funny. I cannot believe they want $165 for the magazines, thats ridiculous. Let me know if you have any luck finding the books :thumbsup2

You're the queen of collecting!
He he, its so bad. Its going to bankrupt me soon and its already all taking over my house, I have nowhere to put anything new but cant stop :lmao:

I know you probably mentioned it before, but what do you do? Job-wise, I mean. I'm amazed at all the incredible things you can afford, and the fact that we're the same age and you pay for it all on your own  :thumbsup2

So what do you do with all of your pins?? Do you have them on lanyards or how do you display them? I can't believe those are all from ONE TRIP!!! How many do you have in total???

I'm not sure how many I have altogether, I should count them really. After we went the first time we started pin collecting we brought a board, covered it and displayed them on there. It up on the wall in our Disney room, and I really love it. But its only the Disney ones from that trip, we still have the Universal and SW ones, then we went to DLP 3 times and got some, and then theres all the ones you saw from last time. We plan to get a new board to put them all on but haven't seen one big enough yet. Heres the board though:

We have loads of Hard Rock Cafe ones too from all the HR we have visited. They are displayed on HR lanyards and they look quite cool.

Oh and I found a picture of the magnets on the fridge. The ones we got last time aren't on there though, these are just from the trip before and DLP.

Ahhhhh I am so frustrated. Nicks at work so I am home alone and was going to get some photo's up of our decorations today but my computer has crashed. I went on a site earlier and after got some message about a virus. Now every time I go on a site it keeps closing and I keep getting these random security messages. I don't know what to do, I am just hoping Nick does when he gets home. I am not sure though, he is hardly a computer whizz. So now I am on his Macbook but its taking a while to figure out how to use it. And I had things I had to do on the computer today, I guess its going to have to wait. I was watching a film too and that keeps stopping. I guess it is just not my day :sad1:.

Sorry for your computer troubles! :guilty: Sometimes they can drive you crazy!!
I am amazed at all of your pins! You really have to count them and tell us how many you have!

Thanks. It seems to be working again now but I keep getting this pop up message every 5 minutes and not sure if its going to crash again in a minute. I hope not :sad2:

We plan to get a new board for all of them soon so will definitely count them all then :thumbsup2

Hi Ariel,
I finally made it over to your new pre trip report. I did read your last one though and loved it. I hope your computer is not crashing :sad2: . Well I had fun reading about your 5 different resort plans :lmao: and I thought I switched alot. Glad you are keeping the Poly even without the castle view!! It's still our 1st choice for a resort. Your plans look great and it should be a nice long trip and trip report! Are you still planning on coming to TN next fall? Oh Kaylee loves your pin collection! What did you cover the board to be able to pin the pins to it? I might have to get something like this soon.

Hiya, so glad you joined me :goodvibes

I am so happy we are staying in the Polynesian, I loved it there so much. Its going to be so great staying there for a whole week, I am never going to be able to go back again ;)

Yes we are still planning on going to TN at the end of August, beginning of September. I was looking at various sites at accommodation, restaurants, parks, tours etc and I am so excited. I loved it there so much, I cant wait to come back again :cloud9:

For the pin we got a cork board which the pins easily go in to anyway. We didn't like the cork backing though so then covered it with white leather which looked much better. It actually such hard work getting it the perfect size and then cutting it right, the material is not the easiest to work with. I am not looking forward to having to do it all again when we do another board, I hope its easier this time around :)

Hope your computer is still working!!! :thumbsup2

Well it works, but not like it should :sad2:. Every time I get the internet up it just disappears again, its so frustrating. Nick has been trying to install virus software and get it fixed but as of yet no luck. Looks like we are going to have to take it to the computer shop and see if they can fix it. I hate using his computer, I don't get it.

Thanks :goodvibes . The leather sounds like it too hard for me to work with. I might have to think of something else. The cork background wouldn't look as good to display pins on.

I'm coming out of lurkdom - we will be in WDW 4/21 - 5/9!
