Our Magical WDW Adventure ~ 23 Days of Fun, Food, Cocktails... London Trip 2/8

I got your card today and I just want to say thank you SO MUCH! I loved the letter, you are so sweet. I opened it as I was walking to the house from the mailbox so there's a Mickey confetti trail that I left. :rotfl:
You are such a sweet person and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Thanks :goodvibes . The leather sounds like it too hard for me to work with. I might have to think of something else. The cork background wouldn't look as good to display pins on.

We thought about using felt before we got the leather as I think that would be really easy to work with. Maybe you could try that :confused3

I'm coming out of lurkdom - we will be in WDW 4/21 - 5/9!

Hello and :welcome:

I'm glad you have come out of lurkdom to join me :thumbsup2. So you will be there for quite a bit of the same time as us, how cool. Where are you staying?

7 Days Till Christmas...

Ok so my computer is working again for the minute so I am going to try and update as much as I can as I really can't get on with Nick's Mac. So as promised here is some of my Christmas decorations, including our tree. Its a little bit smaller than we usually have, I prefer the biggest tree we can fit, but like I said before it took us hours of searching last year and I just wasn't up for that this time around. Most of our decorations are either Disney, Me to You bear and then just a few nice baubles and angels.

As you can see we have quite a lot of Disney decorations around, as well as a large number of Disney Christmas plush, stockings, and of course Disney wrapping paper. I always go for a colour scheme for my wrapping and this year is is dark blue, white and silver with a hint of Tinkerbelle, and a few Disney boxes for Sophie.

---------------------

On the subject of Christmas I haven't managed to get much done in the way of holiday planning the last few days as I have been so busy with various Christmas activities. On Monday we finished our Christmas shopping in the day and then in the evening I had a girls Christmas meal to go to. We had a lovely night, we went to a local pub to exchange presents before going for a meal at Cafe Uno and back to the pub for more drinks. It was a great night but I was feeling a little worse for wear on Tuesday morning after one to many glasses of wine... opps! My friends obviously know me well though as I ended up with a few Disney presents.

Isn't she gorgeous?

Then yesterday Nick and I and two of our best friends went to London for some Christmas fun. We started by visiting the Disney Store, always a great way to spend a great day, followed by another of our favorites, Starbucks. Then it was over to Hyde Park for Winter Wonderland. We had a great time ice-skating, luckily none of us fell over but we did see some spectacular tumbles. After we warmed up with a glass of mulled wine as we had a look around the lovely German Christmas village. Winter Wonderland is great, we love to visit there at Christmas, its so beautiful and festive. Anyway after spending some time looking around the stalls we walked over to Hard Rock Cafe. Nick and I have been here lots of times but this was our first time at Christmas. They had a great big Christmas tree covered in lots of lights that formed a canope over the outside patio, it was so pretty. Unfortunately I didn't get any food pictures, or any other pictures for that matter, but I can tell you it was so good. Nick and I and our friends got 2 plates of nachos to start, Nick and I got bbq brisket on ours and it was so good. However since we have been there many times before I should have known that there is no way we could eat starters and mains. So by the time our mains came I was nearly full. I had the bbq pulled pork sandwich with fries, Nick had the bbq brisket sandwich with onion rings, both came with bbq beans and coleslaw. It was all so good but I hadn't even eaten a quarter of mine and I was stuffed. We also had a few cocktails, which are so good. And the service was brilliant, our server was so friendly and informative. After dinner we popped in to the shop and I got a HR London shot glass (one of the new city design ones), and some HR London drumsticks for Dad who started collecting them back in Atlanta.

Unfortunately we then had to get a rather packed tube back to Chigwell, which wasn't fun, but all in all it was a great night. But then when I got home I started getting a really sore throat and then I woke up in the middle of the night with a splitting headache, and even after taking tablets and trying to sleep it off I could not shake it. I had so much to do today but have felt so bad, and of course my stupid computer is playing up so I am not happy. But its less than a week until Christmas so I am determined not to get down as I am so excited.

What a great holiday season you guys are having! Winter Wonderland sounds like so much fun, and I love all your Christmas decorations. And your cats so cute!!! I hope you feel better soon. I was at the doctor this afternoon getting an natibiotic for my throat/sinuses... right in time for the holidays! UGH. Take care of yourself and find some time to relax.

Thanks so much hun, I hope you are ok too

Winter Wonderland is great, its so pretty and festive. All through the park they have lights in the trees, and a big wheel thing that is all lit up. And because its a German Village it is very pretty, a bit like Germany in Epcot. And I love visiting London at this time of year, all the lights and decorations are so beautiful.

I love the German Christmas decorations! Not that I've ever been to Germany, but I love what I've seen on TV and in stores ;) They're little Christmas villages and train sets are so pretty, so I can only imagine what it would all look like lifesize :goodvibes I watched "Love, Actually" last night and thought of you! That movie makes me want to visit London!

See you live in NY, watch films set in London and want to visit there. I live near London and watch films set in NY and want to visit there. We should do an exchange like in The Holiday

That's my movie for tonight! Not even kidding, I have it sitting next to my TV, love that movie :lovestruc See, now we know that when we finally visit each others cities we'll have awesome tour guides ;)

I'm going bonkers looking for nice wrapping paper like yours. I'm a bit nutty and like to coordinate the paper to look pretty under the tree.

We're debating on staying at OKW, SSR or a split stay between the two.

I'm like troobabiee7, being 45 min from NYC, wishing to visit London/Europe for the holidays.

Yes definitely :thumbsup2. Nick and I were just discussing the other day what we wanted to do when we go with my family to London in February as we have already done most things. There is so much to do there though, and we love to just take in the sights and people watch to. Whats your favorite thing to do in NY then?

Are you in DVC then?

He he I always spend so much on wrapping paper and gift bags. I have tried to control myself a bit this year and haven't done too badly. It has taken me ages to wrap it all though, I love adding ribbon and bows and trying to make it all look pretty :)

London is great, there is so much to see and do there and it is really a beautiful city. I cannot wait to visit NY, I just hope its sooner rather than later :confused3

Hi~Sounds like you had an awesome weekend with friends and going to Winter Wonderland. It sounds a lot like what we did this past Saturday too. Chicago has German Christmas Land as well. It was so crowded, but DH and I could have smelled all of the wonderful food and sweets there for hours!

DH and I are planning a trip to NYC in June to visit his family. I haven't been since I was 10 and can't wait!!! DH said I had a "foofie tourist trip" - his words exactly - with my family. My dad was there on business so we were put up in a nice hotel and saw a bunch of stuff. DH's uncle is going to take us around and see the "real NYC"...

I love the decorations! I can't believe that you coordinate your wrapping paper. It looks awesome. I just find what I can on sale. this year we are wrapping in gingerbread & candy paper and then some leftover cartoonie looking santa paper that DH bought about 3 years ago. I can't seem to get rid of it!!!

CoP Luv ~ The Christmas land sounds good, the food and drink always smells so good doesn't it. We didn't get chance to try any of the proper stuff as we were going to HR for dinner but we did get some honey coated cashew nuts and they were so good. Next year I am determined to try one of the giant sausages they have, they looked so good.

I hope you have a good trip to NY, I am sure you will have lots of fun. You will have to tell me all about it when you get back.

I have always co-ordinated my wrapping paper for some reason, I just love the way it looks. Some people co-ordinate their trees, which always look really good, but I love to have a colourful tree, it feels much more christmassy to me. Have you got your decorations up then?

Wow, that's a really, really hard one. I love everything about the city that it's really hard to pick. If I had to though, it would be hanging out at NBC during SNL rehearsals and seeing shows around the city, both Broadway and off-Broadway. I also love strolling through Central Park, seeing the cultural exhibits at the Museum of Natural History and Brooklyn Musuem, and shopping in the Village. We also have the best street fairs!

What are some of your favorite things to do in London?

That must be so cool hanging out at NBC, do you get to see loads of famous people :confused3. I cannot wait to see Broadway shows, they must be so good. I am quite sad though as I would have loved to see Beauty and the Beast, I cant believe it ended. I really want to see The Little Mermaid and Lion King. What are your favorite shows? We have a Natural History Museum here too, we have been a couple of times and its great. I would love to have street fairs, they must be so much fun. Do you have one for 4th of July, I would love to come to that one one year.

I love most things we have done in London, with the exception of Madame Tussards which was a major let down, and far too much money for what it is. I love seeing shows in the West End, I have so many favorites, The Lion King, Sound of Music, Grease, Mary Poppins, and Nick and my favorite, We Will Rock You (we have seen it 6/7 times already). We went to the Dungeon's for Nicks birthday last year too and that was really good, scary but good. Oh and I love walking through the parks too, there are quite a few, most lead into one another and they are so pretty. In the summer me and a few friends had a picnic in Queens Park which is right next to Buckingham Palace and has a great view over the London Eye and lots of cool birds as well as policeman on horses. Oh and the London Eye is good, the views are great and the night flight is so pretty with all the lights of London twinkling below :goodvibes

Love your decorations and your tree! Everything looks perfect right down to your wrapping paper! Hope you are feeling better and your computer woes straighten out soon. Although I think I can top you with an unscheduled root canal through one of my crowns. That sure was fun!!:scared: I would post my pictures of my outdoor light display but it has been snowing all day here (supposed to get 8-12 inches!!) and I am not going outside! I have a 6 and 4 foot lighted palm trees and several other colored lights as well as a few deer in front of my house. I think it's fun and different although I guess even though palm trees aren't the norm in the northeast....just the Florida in me I guess! :cool1: Take care! :goodvibes

Thanks so much. Unfortunately our tree is beginning to droop a bit already :guilty:

Oh I hope you feel better after your root canal, I can't imagine how much pain that must have been. When we went to Hard Rock Cafe in Gatlinburg on Mum's birthday she hurt her tooth on a chicken wing. Well it ended up with her being in pain for months whilst they sorted it out, and she got a abscess in the process too. I know how much pain she was in so I really feel for you

It seems lots of places are getting snow in the US at the moment, I hope we get some soon (but not for the next few days as we have to travel to my Mum's on Tuesday night). I can't believe how much you are expected to get, I don't blame you for not wanting to go out and take pictures. Your trees sound really good though, and I bet the deer look really cute. We haven't got any outside decorations but we sometimes we get a light dusting of snow or frost along with some bunnies and deer and it looks so festive and nice. I love this time of year :santa:

CoP Luv ~ Have you got your decorations up then?

Yes, we are all ready to go with our decorations. You reminded me that I have to update my blog with pictures! I actually took them last weekend but it has been such a crazy week that I haven't had time to post!!! Only a few more presents to wrap and I am all done. There is hardly any room left under our tree!!! :rotfl2:

I love musical shows too! I hope that we will get to see one when we go to NYC this summer. I have been dying to see The Lion King for so long. It came to Chicago on tour 3.5 years ago and I asked DH if he wanted to go and see it, but he thought it wasn't a good idea. :headache:

He then found out that one of his best friends had gotten tickets from his girlfriend to go see it and he (the best friend) was so excited...though I can't really see him being the Broadway show type. After that, DH lightened up a little bit and even got me tickets to see Wicked for our anniversary! It was such a great show!

We just got tickets to see Mary Poppins in March. My parents and sister saw it the last time they were in London and said it was really good. I can't wait! DH said March was a good time since it was during the depressing, non-football time of the year when he will be drawing straws at what to do with his time. :rolleyes1

CoP Luv ~ You should definitely go and see the Lion King. If its anything like the London show it will be great. And Mary Poppins in London was so good too, again if its the same you should love it. It actually finished here at the end of last year I think. Nick took me for our 4 year dating anniversary last November and I was so glad we got to see it before it ended. Its on tour now however and we are hoping to go again some time next year to take Sophie as I am sure she will love it.

I really want to see Wicked, its on my list of must see shows. But I really want to see the Lion King and Sound of Music before they end, and Nick is desperate to see We Will Rock you again as we haven't seen it for ages.

I will check out your blog tomorrow and see if you have put the pictures up. I would love to see them.

That sounds so nice :goodvibes I'd love to visit London, hopefully sometime soon!

NBC is a lot of fun. We've met a lot of people, and most of them were nice. Some of them were surprisingly horrible people though  We have fun bringing our cousins and friends up and just hanging out, taking pictures on the sets and watching the rehearsals. I have so many good memories from 30 Rock :goodvibes

Broadway's my favorite! Beauty and the Beast was actually my 2nd show, back when I was 6. I don't remember much of it but I do remember loving it! I saw The Little Mermaid last December and was pretty let down. I loved the music and the actors were amazing, but the rest was a bust. The costumes were ridiculous and they changed the whole story line and made it really stupid. The Little Mermaid's always been one of my absolute favorite Disney movies so I liked it for what it was, but I wouldn't see it again. I absolutely LOVED Spring Awakening and Rent. I've seen them both a few times each - I love the rock musicals. Speaking of which, We Will Rock You sounds just like Rock of Ages, another of my absolute favorite shows! We Will Rock You is the Queen musical right? I love Queen :lovestruc Rock of Ages was a musical with all 80's rock music and it was HYSTERICAL! It was the most fun I've had at a show... ever. They're moving it to Broadway in March so I'm glad we saw it before ticket prices shoot up to $140 :scared1: Spamalot and Hairspray were also a ton of fun!

I've seen a good 50 or so Broadway and off-Broadway shows since I was little, usually at really discounted prices through theater clubs (otherwise we definitely wouldn't be able to see any many ;)) The only show I remember paying full price for was The Little Mermaid, and again, it wasn't worth it. It's hard to pick favorites since I've loved so many. Broadway's not doing well right now with the economy and shows are closing left and right :sad2: Some new ones are opening soon though, and I can't wait for the revival of Hair! The new West Side Story looks good too, but it's not at the top of my list. I'd also love to see Billy Elliott and Shrek, and FINALLY see Wicked, but those shows are doing really well and aren't offering discounts. Did you hear about 9 to 5? That's right, Dolly Parton's producing a Broadway show, starting in February! :lmao:

Melissa ~ Yes I heard about 9 to 5 from her website, it sounds really funny. Its based on the fil isn't it? I bet its a hoot to watch  I can't believe they have made Legally Blonde in to a show too, have you seen that one? My friend went to NY with the school and they got to see that and she said it was great which is kind of surprising. We Will Rock You actually has a rather lame storyline, the first time I went to see it I was like "What?". Its set in the future and proper music has been banned and everyone left are basically clones, except the 2 main characters. They then meet up with this group called the Bohmemians who have been banished by the killer queen and try to save the music. It is really funny and although the storyline is quite stupid the music and dancing is so good, probably the best we have seen. If you like rock music and Queen I am sure you would love it :thumbsup2. I cannot believe they have a Shrek musical, that must be funny. And I really want to see Wicked too.

Ok so spill, who was really nice and more importantly who was horrible :confused3. And what was 30 Rock?
