Our Magical Trip of a Million Dreams, Wishes & Surprises~Engaged at Disney(6/26 p30)

What a wonderful engagement day!

That was very sweet of the CM's to make you personalized engagement buttons!

I have heard that the food is not worth the price at CRT but I can't help but want to eat in the castle!

I just love that glass figurine your future MIL gave you. It is so pretty!
Yes, I completely agree that the food at CRT is not worth the hefty price tag, BUT eating in the castle is very fun and different. Thanks for following along!! :goodvibes

Wow! I'm finally caught up with your amazing TR. Thank you so much for sharing, it's wonderful to see your dreams coming true. I believe I have many similar dreams! lol

Your DF is pretty special to propose in a way that he just KNEW was your dream! Congratulations on everything and good luck with all the planning.
Thank you for your sweet comments, I am glad you are enjoying the TR!! :thumbsup2

Engaged at the MK, now that is a Day to Remember. What a great TR, I love it.:cloud9:
Even though engagement day had parts where it was a complete blur,
I will surely never forget that day or that vacation. DF did a great job at creating a memorable triP! :goodvibes

Mmm popcorn! I want some...but first I better get to writing the next installment! :rotfl2:

Really enjoying your TR and looking forward to more! Congrats on your engagement. My husband and I got engaged on our three year dating anniversary, so your story brought back some memories. :goodvibes
I am glad you are enjoying the TR! I was very surprised DF actually proposed on our anniversary because he always said he would never do it on an occasion because I would expect it...boy was he wrong! :lmao:

bumping so more peeps can join the bandwagon....:thumbsup2
Why thank you! :goodvibes

Awesome. So happy for you. have some of this:hug: :dance3: pixiedust: :dancer: :jumping3: :jumping2: :Pinkbounc :tinker: :tink: :mickeyjum :flower1:
Thanks for all of that!!

Great updates and so sweet of your futue MIL :goodvibes
I was completely surprised by the gift she got us, I absolutely cannot wait to find a place for it in our new house...when we get around to buying it!

Sounds like you had an absolutely perfect anniversary/engagement day!! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes I just loved reading your story - can't wait to hear all about the rest of the trip.

Oh, and I'm with you - I don't like fancy sauces, etc drizzled on my food! LOL None of the apps sounded very good to me either...maybe they have different options at lunch?
I am not sure about the lunch menu, but that would be a good idea to try. Since I am crazy I have already started planning where I want to eat on our Honeymoon in 2 years and I was thinking CRT for breakfast would be so much fun, plus then you get all the pictures with barely anyone in the park if you go early enough. I mean how fancy can breakfast food get, right? :confused3

This is a wonderful trip report! Congratulations on the engagement! I love that fountain!
I am glad you are enjoying the TR, that fountain has always been my favorite! Next time you visit it, think of me, k?

Great update! How nice they were at CRT!!!! BUT...the food doesn't sound appetizing!
Completely agree! I guess all the freebies made up for the food, and at least I got full off of the dessert!

Well you made me cry again!!!

Great update...I do remember the rain that night and DH just wanted to go home...darn it...we never made it to Tomorrowland cause of it. Oh well...anyways, sounds like you had a terrific ending to the day. Sorry about your dinner...but Taco Bell sounds so much better! :rotfl2: I saw the line to Peter Pan and skipped it too...why was it 40 min long all day and why would anyone wait that long??? And why wasnt the FP working??? Glad you took a 2nd trip on PotC...great ride! I still don't believe that Jack isnt real..amazingly realistic. Oh and about the boys competing on Buzz ride. Funny story...DH walked in on the little ones playing Barbies. They say, "Look Daddy, we are playing Barbie house!" He replies, "Oh yeah? Who is winning?" :rotfl2: Men!
So are you going to use the toasting glasses at your reception? Looking forward to more! ;)
:lmao: :rotfl2: Your DH is too funny, I could see DF doing that too. Why must everything be a competition?

I think the Peter Pan FP wasnt working because they were switching out the machines to have the new and improved thicker FP paper...but cmon did they have to do that on what seemed to be the busiest day of the season?? :rotfl2:

Oh yeah and we were definitley thinking about using the CRT flutes as our wedding day flutes too! I am going to try and get them engraved at Things Rememberd or something with our engagement day: June 19, 2007 and our Weddign date: June 19, 2009.

Those gifts you got look really neat, I like the minnie and mickey statue.
I can not understand why the line for peter pan is always so long, we have seen the line over an hour while lines for the bigger rides like splash mountain and space mountain were only 15 minutes or so. I always want to go on it when we are there, because it is so hard to go on when there is no line, but the lines are always to long, we are gonna have to get there early this year, or get a fast pass, to ride it.
That Peter Pan ride is the like the great Disney mystery...I mean yes it is fun, but not worth the 1+ hour wait fun!! Definitely skip it if the wait is more than 20 minutes. Maybe it was so long just because it was in June? I wonder what the line is like during the slower season.

What a great story!
Glad you are enjoying it!

Wow! What a romantic evening! That's so sweet that they gave you the CRT toasting flutes. What a great momento of your day. It's too bad you didn't really like the food. When we were there in 2005, the menu was different, and DH & DS both said that was the best meal food-wise they had in WDW. When I was making our ADR's for this trip, we weren't all that impressed with the menu (we like more simple things like you guys) and decided it wasn't worth the 2 TS credits. We're tring 1900 Park Fare for DD instead. I love those "customised" buttons you got! What a great idea!
I was crying tears of jay at you watching wishes. I'm sure you felt like you were the only 2 people in the world at that moment, and the crowds just melted away. I have NEVER seen Spectro!!!!:scared1: I am making it a point to catch that this trip! By the way....I'm hungry now after thinking of Taco Bell...Thanks alot!:lmao: I can't wait to hear what you do "tomorrow"!:cool1:
The menu was much different in 2005, because I remember loving the food at CRT then! Maybe by 2009 they will change it back again. :rotfl: I 100% recommend Spectromagic! It is so much fun if you have never seen it!! I am sorry that my installment made you cry and hungry. :rolleyes1

I really like that gift that DF's mom got you, so pretty!! I love CM sometimes, they can really be awesome if they try!!

Cant wait for TL! I'll be there this trip for the first time (well, second but I was too young the first time)
Yes, we had some good luck with our CMs this year...it really is hit or miss! I hope you like the TL segment! Thanks for reading!

I LOVE the fact that the CM made you "Just Engaged" buttons.....only in Disney!!! :goodvibes Your report is great! I'm looking forward to the next installment.
The CMs could have just said, "No we dont have Just Engaged Buttons" and sent us on our little way, but it waw so nice of them to make us special buttons. They really know how to pour on the magic.

Your day at the Magic Kingdom sounded incredibly magical! I can't believe you got so much done! You did practically everything: even dinner in the castle (which was soo much fun to hear about, btw!)

Keep up the great trip reporting!

Good Saturday Morning DISers!

I have finished the next installment and will be posting it right after this one, but I wanted to share with all of you that DF and I are officially getting married on June 19, 2009! We booked our ceremony/reception venue at the place we fell in love with! We went last week to sign our contract and we took a lot of pictures and I thought I would share them with you.

The place is called the Patrick Haley Mansion and it is a historic landmark Illinois.

Just thought I would share with you because I know a lot of you wanted to see pictures! I am so excited, the place is absolutely beautiful and we are both so happy that we chose it! It is the only place that we could picture getting married at that wasn’t Disney!!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures, and now you can find the next installment of the TR in the next post! Enjoy!!!

Have a great weekend!!

Day 6: Typhoon Lagoon & Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show – Part I.
June 20, 2007

Since we didn’t get to bed until 4:00 AM we made sure to sleep in! I think we ended up sleeping until 10 or 11 that morning, but we really needed it. Lets face it, a 9:00 to Midnight Magic Kingdom day is difficult to recuperate from, that is why we knew full well that we wouldn’t be getting to Typhoon Lagoon before the afternoon, but we knew our bodies would thank us later!

I woke up and immediately looked at my left hand to make sure it wasn’t a dream because it sure did feel like it. Relieved that it wasn’t a dream I stumbled out of bed, went down to the kitchen, and had my daily Frapuccino. DF had made some scrambled eggs, it was seriously probably the 3rd time I’d seen him cook something in 5 years. :lmao: After our hearty breakfast we began to get ready for our Typhoon Lagoon day.

It didn’t take long to get ready and of course, we were the first ones set to go. Realizing we still had a lot of time on our hands, I decided to cave and call my mom. I called and of course there was no answer, and I wasn’t about to leave a message on the answering machine that said, “Hi Mom, Disney is great, by the way I am engaged, miss you, bye.” So instead of leaving a message I decided to call my sister—I was meaning to call her anyways for her address so I could send my nephew a postcard.

She answered the phone and of course before I can even ask her for her address, I said, “Guess What?? I GOT ENGAGED!” I think she screamed and started asking me a million questions ranging from “How did he do it?”, “Did you pick a date?”, “What does the ring look like?”, “What season do you want to get married in?” and “What color bridesmaid dresses do you want to get?” I felt like I was being interrogated, but it was nice to see that she was excited for me. :rotfl2: Then my sister informed me that my mom was actually on her way to her house and that is why she didn’t answer at home. Perfect timing! When my mom did arrive I did get to talk to her. She got on the phone and said, “So is there something you want to tell me?” I guess she wasn’t going to be surprised since my Dad ended up telling her the day we left. Good thing DF waited to ask his permission!! My mom cried, which made me want to cry. I am going to be a sobbing wreck at my wedding! After talking with my mom, DF decided to call my brother, who also already knew the news because my Dad had called him right after DF asked his permission. I told you they had big mouths!!

By the time we had made all our phone calls it was time to get going to Typhoon Lagoon and we had to be there by noon because Ken, DF’s uncle, was going to meet us there today. When we walked outside we noticed it was HOT and we were very happy we were doing a water park today!

We made it to Typhoon Lagoon after a very short car ride. The first thing we did before we even entered the park was get our new bar code for our refillable mug and DF wanted to buy one those waterproof containers you wear around your neck to hold passes and money. We found a little hut and asked the CM for a new barcode, which we thought cost us $5.00, DF also found his container in his favorite color, orange. When the CM rang us up he only charged us for the waterproof container and not the barcode, even though he stuck a new barcode on our mug. DF asked the CM if he remembered that we got a barcode and he said yes. Okay then, free drinks for the day I guess. Maybe they changed the rule, but from what I know from experience, Disney doesn’t give anything away for free! Oh well, our day was off to a wonderful start and we were $5.00 richer. :thumbsup2

We took our free mug and ran to the gates. Ken had just called Jeanne and told her that he was in the Typhoon Lagoon parking lot and should wait for him, now that is good timing! DF and I decided to split off from the group and find our seats, we told everyone to meet at the gates at 4:00 PM to leave for the day. It was going to be a much shorter day than Blizzard Beach. Since my scalp was sunburned I definitely wanted to sit in the shade today, even though I was wearing a hat and loads of SPF 50, I didn’t want to take any chances, plus I still felt so incredibly tired that I felt the sun would just wear me out. We found some nice seats not too far from the huge wave pool and a lazy river entrance. I lathered on some more sunscreen and asked DF what he wanted to do and he immediately said Crush n Gusher, which is his favorite Typhoon Lagoon slide. It isn’t so much a slide as it is a water coaster on an inflatable raft.

So we went off to find Crush n Gusher...That stupid slide is impossible to locate! It is tucked somewhere in the middle of no where and there is maybe 1 sign pointing you in that direction. I think we walked around the entire water park before we actually found it, and the worse part was that it wasn’t that far away from our seats in the first place. I hate how in the water parks everywhere you go looks the same! Along the way we stopped for this photo-op with our favorite Photopass photogs.

DisneyPhotoImage63.jpg

The line was kind of long to get a raft, we probably waited 15-20 minutes, but once we got the raft we probably waited only 5 minutes to ride. With Crush n Gusher, you can sit up to 3 people on a raft and the seating is kind of like Space Mountain, with one person in front of another. DF sat in the back and me in the front. If you go on this ride they tell you to keep your bottom up otherwise you will get some scrapes where you don’t want them! I never experienced any such thing, but I can imagine it would be painful! Anyways, in order to keep your bottom up you have to hold on to the handles and lift yourself up.

Once we were all situated we were off and it is such a fun ride, except I do not recommend riding this slide if you had just lathered yourself with sunscreen! The entire way down my hands were slipping from the handles because they were so slippery and my legs were slipping too. I was seriously hanging on for dear life and I thought I wasn’t going to be able to hold on because the ride really whips you around. It was quite a crazy experience and I just wanted the slide to be over so I could stop holding on so tight!! DF asked how I liked it and I told him not so much this year because of my near death experience. Next time I will definitely wait until the sunscreen dissolves more!

We started walking around to find Gang Plank Falls which is the Typhoon Lagoon’s family raft ride. When we did find it the line was really long, about 30 minutes, and with this ride you have to carry a very large and heavy raft up many flights of stairs. I do not understand why they didn’t build a conveyer belt like they did at Blizzard Beach. Anyways, we decided to skip it because it was too hot and too long of a line to be carrying that huge thing!

DF was getting hungry and I thought I was too so we went to Typhoon Tilly’s for lunch where we decided to split my food of choice, a chicken finger basket. I took one bite and was full, I guess I wasn’t that hungry, as a matter of fact, I felt more sick than anything. DF ended up eating the entire basket of chicken fingers and fries and I just watched him, boy was I feeling crummy. I was hoping that I wasn’t going to be sick because I knew we had the Spirit of Aloha dinner show that night, and I love that Hawaiian food! After lunch I told DF I just wanted to relax a bit before we tried to do anything else.

I think that I felt sick because my schedule was all messed up. I never ever stay up until 4:00 AM and I think was still over tired. It was easy to take a nice nap in the shade and that is what we ended up doing for about 40 minutes. After my nap I felt much better so we went in the Lazy river. I just love TL’s lazy river, I especially love the double tubes because then DF and I don’t get separated. I think we went around the river 2 times, and I probably took another short nap, boy was I tired!

Now when I am tired, I get cold so it didn’t take long for my body to realize it was in water so I was shivering! We decided that we had enough of the river and went back to our shady area to dry off. I felt really bad that we hadn’t done any other water slides because TL has a lot of great tube slides, but I just didn’t feel up to waiting in lines and walking up many stairs. DF asked very nicely if he could possibly go in the wave pool for a little bit, I told him to go ahead and have fun, because I am not a fan of that wave pool! The thing scares the heck out of me!!

So I waited in our shady area and just relaxed. I ended up calling my Dad at work to tell him that he had a big mouth since everyone already pretty much knew about the engagement. We talked for a little bit and I bragged about how I was sitting outside doing absolutely nothing and he was stuck at work! I am such a nice daughter.

After about a half hour of doing nothing, DF had still not returned and now I was getting bored. I decided to take my camera and try and find DF in the wave pool. I did not dare go deep into the pool though because like I said those waves scare me so I stayed near the shallow part where the wimps hang out. I am proud to call myself a TL Wave Pool Wimp. I soon realized that it would be very difficult to find DF in this pool, since it is huge. See?

7-3-2007-2.jpg

7-3-2007-1.jpg

I stood around for awhile thinking I would see him if he came out of the water. I had no luck in that department, but I did get lucky because the huge waves were not going off at that time!

I figured it was time to go back to our seats to see if DF had returned. In my head I was thinking he had thought about this whole marriage thing and decided to run out on me. :lmao: Instead, I found DF back at our seats wondering where I had run off too. He said he had been sitting there about 25 minutes waiting for me, and I told him I had went to the Wave Pool about 25 minutes ago looking for him. We had just missed each other.

DF told me that he ended up finding Jeff in the pool talking with some people. This one man asked DF if he was Jeff’s brother, when he said he was the man goes, “Congratulations, another one bites the dust...” Apparently Jeff was telling the people he met that his older brother had gotten engaged. Thank you Mr. Wave Pool man for putting negative thoughts in my fiance’s head. We laughed at how Jeff always manages to meet people wherever he goes, he is such a people person!

DF wanted to go in the wave pool again but I heard the waves going off, so I was kind of chicken to go in, but DF lured me in by saying we needed Photopass pictures in the pool and he had seen the Photopass guys in the water. He sure knows how to convince me though, I cannot refuse Photopass pictures!!! So I cautiously entered the pool and DF had to literally drag me deeper inside. I am chicken of that pool because in the past years I have gone I always manage to get hurt when a big wave is going off. I either get kicked or it makes me fall over. It is never a good wave pool experience.

We find a Photopass guy who is taking pictures way too deep for my liking and I am constantly listening for the siren that warns people that huge wave is coming. We find the Photopass guy and he takes our picture.

DisneyPhotoImage59.jpg

Please do not mind my hideous hair in these pictures! :rolleyes1

The Photopass guy then asks if we want to take pictures with the wave coming at us and the wave hitting us. I immediately say no thanks, but DF thinks it would be the coolest thing in the world. The Photopass photog tells me to not be a chicken and do it for DF. Alright, fine! Peer pressure! DF promised that he will hold me to make sure the wave doesn’t take me away, and that is the only way I will even go in that wave pool!

So here are our lovely and embarrassing (for me) TL Wave Pool pictures...

DisneyPhotoImage58.jpg

As you can clearly see from my face...I am not liking this idea.

DisneyPhotoImage57.jpg

There is the wave. I am terrified. The Photopass guy tells me to try and look like I am enjoying this and smile.

DisneyPhotoImage56.jpg

So I appease the photographer... that wave was getting close!

DisneyPhotoImage55.jpg

Yikes!!

Of course someone managed to head-butt my leg and whoever it was had a huge head because it left quite the bruise! Like I said, I always get hurt in the wave pool! :sad2: We gave the photographer our Photopass card and I grudgingly said thank you to him. After that near death experience DF and I found some chairs on the shore of the pool so we took a seat and let the waves splash us. It was fun to just sit there and see how big the waves would get. After that we saw that it was nearly 4:00 so we started to head back to our seats to pack up all our stuff. On the way we found that DF’s family’s seats were right near ours the entire time. So we all met back at their seats and we were out of Typhoon Lagoon by 4:20.

Overall, it had been a relaxing trip to TL. I felt kind of sad that I had felt sick earlier because it stopped us from going on a lot of the slides, but we also got there late and the crowds were much thicker. It is much better to get to the water parks early to do the slides because there is barely a wait. Since I had already been to TL other times it wasn’t so bad that we didn’t get to ride everything we wanted, plus we weren’t sure if we were going to take another TL trip on our last day.

It had turned out to be a pretty good day. I was feeling much better and I was so excited for our Luau at the Polynesian and our romantic walk to Disney’s Wedding Pavilion which awaited us that night.

To Be Continued...

Up Next: Our fun night at the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show & DF and I go on our walk for some alone time!
