Our Magical Trip of a Million Dreams, Wishes & Surprises~Engaged at Disney(6/26 p30)

Day 5 Cont...

I decided to not call my parents about our engagement just then because I thought it would be fun to surprise them, plus I felt kind of bad that they weren’t there with me, I really wanted to see their faces when I told them, so instead of making phone calls we headed to Pirates of the Caribbean! After all we still had a plan to follow! :rotfl:

I have to admit I do not really remember what DF and I were talking about all the way to Pirates, like I mentioned previously I felt like I was floating. It was like my body was the Magic Kingdom, but my mind was floating out somewhere...I wondered if I would ever feel connected again. From what I do remember though DF was telling me all about how he asked my Dad so early in the morning for his permission. I just kept telling him I couldn’t believe we were engaged!

Before we got in line for Pirates we saw people crowding around for Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Tutorial, I knew I wanted to see how real the Jack Sparrow looked so we stopped to have a looksy. We waited about 30 seconds and Jack came out to start to show, please do not ask me what he was saying because at that moment I was probably choosing wedding colors in my head.

We debated whether or not that Jack Sparrow was a woman, DF’s mom and aunt thought he was, but I voted that he was indeed a man, but you be hte judge. We didn’t stay for the whole show because it was getting hot!

So we got in line for Pirates and honestly do not even remember how long the line was, and I think I was told that it was weaving...I had never stood in a line for Pirates it always seems to be a walk on ride, but honestly DF and I were so deep in conversation about how he plotted this vacation all around the proposal, that it felt like we barely stood in any line at all!

wdw_signs_pirates.jpg

For the entire trip I was so excited to ride the “new” Pirates equipped with Captain Jack Sparrow himself, but the only thing I remember from this was the beginning with Davy Jones and that cool special misting/waterfall effect! I thought that was really awesome how they did that, I had seen pictures of the Davy Jones part of the ride, but nothing compares to actually riding it. And you just gotta love how nice and cold it is inside Pirates, especially in June!! Unfortunately, the rest of the ride was a blur & I even forgot we rode it later in the day.

After Pirates we told everyone to meet us at the Splash Mountain entrance while DF and I went to grab a FastPass for Thunder Mountain, soon enough we all met at Splash Mountain and thanks to our FastPass we did not wait in line, thank goodness because it was getting really HOT now!

splash.jpg

DF and I ended up sitting in the front row, something that has never happened before. I just love Splash Mountain, it is truly one of my favorite Disney rides, if not my favorite! I love singing along to the song and seeing all the different scenes, but most of all I love the tiny drops in the dark, those to me are sometimes more fun than the final drop!

If something brought me back to reality it was definitely the final drop on Splash Mountain. Nothing like a rush of water to the face to bring me right back to my Happy Place! Boy did we get wet, I had never gotten that wet on Splash Mountain before in my life. So much water had hit my face that it actually shifted my contacts and for a moment I couldn’t see. I had a momentary scare when I thought that my contacts fell out. I thought for sure they were gone and we would have to go back to the house so I could get a fresh pair in my eyes. Luckily my contacts found their way back to my eyeballs and all was good. :thumbsup2

Immediately after Splash Mountain we saw it was time for our FastPass to Thunder Mountain, but first we wanted to get a FastPass to Jungle Cruise. I have to say we were actually getting a lot done and that day was so crowded!! We gave the orders to his family to meet us at the entrance of Thunder Mountain and DF and I were off to FP Jungle Cruise. When we got there we realized that a FastPass was a mighty good idea, the wait was already 80 minutes, and that line is outside let me remind you! We quickly got our FastPasses and headed back into the Frontier to ride Thunder Mountain.

Again, we were lucky to wait in no line since we had the FastPass, but oh how we got dirty looks whipping by all the people in the standby line, they looked hot, sweaty, and not to mention cranky! I this had to do with the fact that we were all wet from Splash Mountain and breezing by them, and it was almost lunchtime so I am sure many of them were hungry, yikes! :scared1:

While we were waiting for our train to arrive the CM wished DF and I Happy Anniversary since we were still wearing our pins. He asked us how many years so we told him that we had been dating 5 years...he took one look at DF and said, “And you remembered that?” We then told him we just got engaged, and he looks at DF all surprised and says, “Wait a minute you remembered your anniversary and you proposed, man, you the man!” We were all cracking up. Our train arrived and we hopped in, the entire time the CM was giving DF “mad props.” (For those of you who don’t know what mad props are it is when someone makes a fist and hits the upper corner of their chest...and yes that is the best I can explain it!) As our train pulled away the CM announced very loudly that it was our anniversary and we had just gotten engaged, the CMs and some guests started clapping for us, and before we knew it we were on our runaway train.

For some reason I always forget how much I love Thunder Mountain! I seriously crack up the entire time I am on it, I cannot figure it out, but it is just so much fun. We had ourselves a grand old time riding it and when we left the CM continued giving DF “mad props.” :rotfl2:

It was about time for a short break and we still had some time before our Jungle Cruise FP so we decided to get some Strawberry Italian Ices in Frontier Land, yum! Again, I reminded DF that we needed to try a Dole Whip sometime on this vacation. I think I spent the entire time making my new ring glisten in the sunlight, it was like a new toy! Jeanne had called her husband Ken, who was arriving the next day, and he wished us congratulations. After our short break we decided to get in line for the Enchanted Tiki Room since it was near Jungle Cruise.

wdw_signs_tiki.jpg

We got in line for the Tiki Room and realized we wouldn’t have to wait too long and we would definitely be getting in the next show. As we were standing there I noticed these cute girls wearing the most adorable hair ribbons, then I remembered that fellow DISer, Cathy (twob4him) had made her girls ribbons for their hair...nah it couldn't be, could it?

I poked DF really hard and whispered that I think my DIS friend was right in front of us in line. He asked me if I was sure and I said “not really.” So I started searching for other clues and then I noticed the LGMH! I was now sure now that it was her and when I looked closer I remembered that her girls looked exactly as they did in pictures. DF told me to go and ask her if she was indeed Cathy, I was praying it was otherwise I would make a huge fool of myself.

So I approached her, tapped her on the shoulder and asked her if she was Cathy when she said yes and I exclaimed, “It is me, Cinderella16!!” It was so funny that I ran into her because the whole day I kept telling DF that my DIS friend Cathy was supposed to be at MK today too, he kept saying things like “good luck finding anyone here.” Hah! But I showed him, I found her! We got to talking and I couldn’t hold it in anymore I had to tell her I was engaged. I told her I had something to show her and then showed her my ring. She was yelled, “I KNEW IT!!” and we both jumped up and down and screamed very loudly, I am certain we got some dirty looks, probably from DF himself. She had been telling me for the longest time that my anniversary gift from Justin would be an engagement ring, and I kept telling her she was crazy. We talked for a little bit and then took a picture (which I stole from her TR check it out if you haven’t already here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1495800 )

IMGP3108.jpg

I told Cathy that she should feel very honored because she was the first person I told that I was engaged. She knew even before my parents.

We said our goodbyes because the Tiki Room was about to open and we hoped to see each other throughout the rest of our vacations. I was elated that I had met a DISer!!

We took our seats in the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room and enjoyed the singing birds which is something you can really only enjoy in Disney. I don’t remember the Tiki Room before it was under new management, but from what I hear it was much better before, but since I cannot compare it to anything, I still like the “new” Tiki Room.

After Tiki Room we were all starving and since we still couldn’t Jungle Cruise we decided it was definitely time for lunch. We headed over to Peco Bills and it was so crowded it was scary! There was no room to move an inch we were packed in there like sardines. We sent Jeff and Janna to find seats while we waited in line for a long while!

peco20bills.jpg

For lunch DF and I both got the Chicken Wrap and fries and we split a Lemonade. Jeff and Janna had no luck in finding seats so we had to eat outside on some bench thing that wasn’t a bench, but we made it into a bench. I was expecting the chicken wrap to be worse than it was because I had heard bad reviews of Peco Bills, but it was surprisingly not bad, although that may have something to do with the fact that I was starving and felt like I was going to pass out.

We ate our lunch sitting on the crowded non-bench and it was anything but peaceful. The entire lunch we had to endure the screams of a baby. I felt so bad for the mother of this child because she looked so lost and confused, she was definitely not a DISer and looked like one of those first timers who now hate Disney World because they have no idea how to DO Disney. I also think they were from another country so I am sure she fighting some kind of language barrier. Her youngest daughter, probably about 2 years old, was screaming and the mother looked like she was waiting for someone so she was just standing there, staring into space, and looking exhausted. She was doing nothing to console the 2 year old. She had two other kids with her too. She made the son, who was about 4 years old, hold this huge camera bag and he was getting sick of carrying it so of course he starts crying because he doesn’t want to lug this bag. His older sister, about 6 years old, then hits him because he is crying which makes him cry harder. The mom finally decides to take the camera bag from her son, but he is still crying along with the 2 year old. Instead of holding the bag herself though she gives it to the 6 year old, who now starts crying because she doesn’t want to hold the bag. Now all three of her overly tired and worn out children are crying very loudly and she is just standing there still looking lost, still looking exhausted.

This little episode made for a very interesting lunch.

DF and I saw that it was time for our Jungle Cruise FP, but we wanted to get a different FP first. Being the nice people that we are we told the troops that we would go and FP Space Mountain while they waited for us at Jungle Cruise. Yes ladies and gentlemen we hauled our little butts all the way from Peco Bills in Frontierland to Tomorrowland and then back to Adventureland in steaming 90+ degree weather on a day where the entire world decided to visit the Magic Kingdom. DF and I deserve some kind of award because these long treks were very common on this vacation, but it is the only way to avoid long lines and that is the way we like it!

We made it back to Adventureland and got in line for our Jungle Cruise, the wait was now some 120 minutes, boy were we every so glad that we had a FastPass!! We got on our boat very quickly, but the CM’s who load the boat were kind of pushy and rude as they told us where to sit. I know it was hot out there and they were probably sick of tourists, but regardless they were rude. I had no idea where they wanted us to sit because I hadn’t been on JC since I was 4 years old, so when the CM directed us to sit in the middle of the boat, I had no idea what she was talking about and that was when they started getting rude. Needless to say I finally found out what they meant by the middle of the boat and we were off. I found the corny jokes on JC to be funny, but maybe I am just corny or maybe it is because I hadn’t gone on the ride for nearly 2 decades!

After our very hot cruise we needed a cool down so we headed to the Country Bear Jamboree for some relaxation. During the show, which is kind of outdated in my opinion, DF took his afternoon nap, but this time I didn’t yell at him. Since he proposed he was pretty much off the hook. :rotfl: Country Bear Jamboree is great if you want to get out of the sun but it isn’t something that is not to be missed. When we got out of CBJ Jeanne and Matthew wanted to watch the Dreams Come True parade which was about to begin but DF, Jeff, Janna and I had no desire whatsoever to stand in the heat and watch a parade so we split off and told them to meet us at the People Mover (which is now called the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, but I will always and forever call it the People Mover) once the parade was over.

Since the parade was going on, the four of us starting walking through Adventureland in order to get over to Tomorrowland. On the way we stopped for a bathroom break and I went shopping at one of the shops called Island Supply in Adventureland. I ended up buying the cutest Hawaiian print dress and a flower for my hair since we had our Luau the next day at the Polynesian. I had been eyeing that dress since MGM, but forgot to buy it that night because of Rock n Rollercoaster’s sudden re-opening. I was so happy when I found it. The CM was very friendly and she said my new outfit would be perfect for dinner at the Polynesian, I explained to her that is exactly the reason why I am buying it! (You will see pics of it when it comes time for the Luau)

After my quick shopping fix we made it to Tomorrowland where we saw the new Laugh Floor Comedy Club had no wait at all. We made our way into the queue area and waited not long for the doors to open.

I am surprised that there was no line, but I guess not everyone knew what it was or it was because the parade was going on. We watched the show and laughed along especially whenever they kept saying, “That Guy.” (Those of you who have seen this know what I am talking about, I hope!) Overall, I thought it was a cute attraction especially for kids, but I wish Sully was it! How can they have a Monsters Inc. attraction and not have Sully?? I was disappointed!

Since we still had Jeanne, Karen, and Matthew’s passes we took the liberty of getting FastPasses for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, one of DF and my favorites!!! After that we went to check the People Mover to see if the rest of them returned from the parade and sure enough right we reached the entrance they were walking right to the line, what timing! We went up the escalator and DF and I got our own car.

IMG_1423.jpg

Possibly the most relaxing ride in the Magic Kingdom or all of WDW! I love when you go through Space Mountain and all the tunnels in the pitch black, it also makes for a good make-out ride, not that we did that but I imagine it would! :rolleyes1 My favorite part of the whole ride though is when they say “Now paging Mr. Tom Morrow,” I always crack up and I always have to repeat when the guy says “Now approaching Walt Disney’s Carousal of Progress/Space Mountain/etc)” and I repeat it in his awesome voice! Yes, I am that much of a nerd.

After our go around on Space Mountain we decided to ride Carousal of Progress. Of course the song got stuck in my head, sing it with me everyone...
There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
Shining at the end of every day
There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
And tomorrow's just a dream away

I love the idea behind CoP and I love to see how technology has changed and progressed overtime. It is a great attraction to escape to, and again I was surprised that not many people were in the theater.

After CoP it was time to utilize our Buzz Lightyear FP’s so we walked the short distance to the entrance. Again, we waited in no line and walked right on to Buzz. Of course, DF got an insane amount of points and I managed to get about 3000, sadly that is my all time high score. Oh well I'll just say that my gun was broken...again. I love this ride though, but mainly because I love looking at the picture after you get off the ride. DF always manages to have this sheer look of determination, I wish I bought the picture because I want to start collecting them (I already have one from our 2005 trip).

We realized it was now time for dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table, but before we went to check in we grabbed a FP to the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and made our way to the gorgeous castle to eat a wholesome meal where we got some surprises!

This is such a great story!
Thank you and welcome! :goodvibes

We are still with you.:goodvibes
Sounds like you have a full plate with wedding and student teaching.
My books for the fall semester just came in the mail, and I'm already stressing and school doesn't start for 4 weeks. :wizard:
I know what you mean, it is like I just realized I have to student teach and plan a wedding and then graduate and find a job while still planning a wedding. :rotfl2: Let the stress begin!

I'm in (subscribing)!! I love this report - and it's nice to 'meet' you :flower3:

My BF and I are taking our trip in September - his parents will be with us for the first half, so it's nice to read a similar story. Except that I've never met his parents before...:rolleyes1

Congratulations on your engagement! What a great story to tell your grandkids :goodvibes
Hello and welcome to the trippie! I am glad you are enjoying it!! I hope you have a great time in September with your DBF and his family, I am sure it will be a blast!!

Go figure, a wedding at a church :). I think that no matter where you have the wedding it will be special because it's your day. Of all of the places you've shown, I love the Italian place. It looks very elegant. You've picked beautiful choices. Oh to have those choices when we got married. Our reception was at the Elk's Lodge, and we weren't allowed to decorote those Elk heads :).

By the way, loving your trip report!
My uncles would love a wedding where Elk heads are involved (hunters) :rotfl2:
Thanks for all the links! I hope you find a mansion that fits in your price range!
Have you checked out any bed and breakfasts? Some will do wedding on their grounds, and it's great for your out of town guests since everything is in the same place. My Cousin did that and it worked out very nicely.
Good luck! Keep us posted!
We actually were looking at some bed and breakfasts, but they were too far away...Thanks for the tip though!

I think they're all beautiful!!

I love your "Dream Place" and the "Italian" place!
Thanks, I have good taste :rotfl2:

So maybe ya should....Elope to Disney!!!:bride:
Mansions are beautiful. Whatever you decide on
the day will be magical!!:wizard:
Eloping is my option only when I am stressed. :goodvibes

Ohhhhh I love me some wedding!!! I used to be a wedding consultant and also a bridal consultant......this brings back so many memories!!! :goodvibes

Whatever you do....I am sure it will be so special! You two are such a cute couple! Don't forget to save some dough $$ for the house!!! ;) The wedding only lasts a day but the marriage and house are everyday!!!
Great advice as always! Will you be my personal wedding consultant??

I totally love the first one!!!! So elegant and classy...
Me too DM! You got some good taste!!! :cool2:

Great Update. Still waiting for DF to post his side of the story. No pressure or anything:rolleyes1

Sounds like you were on :cloud9: throughout your day at Disney! I'm looking forward to hearing about Cinderella's Royal Table.

Your "mansion" choices are very nice! I can't wait to hear which one you choose! I know it seems stressful with student teaching and wedding planning....I can sort-of relate. I, too, teach. When my DH and I got married, we planned our wedding for 2 days after school let out. Needless to say, everything has a way of working out! :goodvibes

The beginning of this update had be cracking up with all of your, "I don't know how long it took..," "I can't remember how long the line was...," "I can't remember what was said." I'm thinking do you really remember anything? But you got better as your brain "unclouded". Love it and looking forward to your CRT!

Great update...and you guys sure got a lot done!!!

Great Update! You did a geat ob of getting your FP's so you didn't have to wait. If I had just gotten engaged, my mind would have been total mush, and all park plans would have gone out the window!!!! I can't wait to hear about all of the surprised at CRT!!!!

HAHA! DBF took his afternoon nap at CBJ too! He swears that he has never seen the whole thing.

Congratulations! I love your TR and I did that whole happy cry/laugh thing when I read about your engagement :cutie: Wishes do come true!

Yippiee! I was in your trippie! :cool1:

I am telling you...I sympathsized when you said you were having an out-of-body experience after you got engaged! :goodvibes When I got engaged it was an out-of-this-world feeling! You two are such a cute couple.
That was funny how the cm was cheering you both! You really got in a lot of rides, thanks to your smart use of FP, on such a hot crowded day! We melted during the parade and left.
Cant wait for the next update!

Wow sounds like that day was packed, I never understood people facination with Jungle Cruise. :confused3 I mean we always do it but we never go when there is a wait. You are the third or so person that has said there was like a 2 hour wait. I have no idea why people would wait that long for it. I like the ride but never have loved it. They should move the fastpass from that to POTC. :thumbsup2

Fun TR - thanks for sharing!!!

By the way, I had to laugh at the Cracker Barrell counting... my dad & I decided to count the dashes in the road on our way from WV to NY this past June. We counted about 78,000. Really!!! Okay, we counted them for one mile and estimated the rest... Hey, it took our minds off the drive for a minute of our 9 hour trip! ;)

Just wanted to say I love your TR. I have been lurking on a few TRs getting ready for our trip. I think I have gotten inspired to do my own! :thumbsup2

Congrats on the engagement! Props to DF for being so romantic.:woohoo:

I am looking forward to reading more.

Ang

:tinker:

Just finished reading the whole thing...so far. Congrats on the engagement.:thumbsup2 and i'm looking forward to the rest.:coffee:

 Hey DISers! I hope you are all having a great weekend. DF and I are about to go see the Mansion we love again for our wedding venue and will probably be signing a contract with them today! :goodvibes It is very exciting, but I dont want to get my hopes up too much! I just hope they still have our date open, I need some pixie dust!! We are bringing a camera to take more pictures of the venue so I will share those once I get them.

My next TR installment will definitley be up tomorrow, I am working on it, my goodness that MK day was a long one!!

Hello & :welcome: to all my new readers!! I hope you are enjoying it! I will talk to all of you real soon! Have a Magical Day! :wizard:
