Our Magical Mulligan Trip!!

:scared1: I can just picture it - the bus ride from H*LL! I admire your strength in staying quiet - I wouldn't have been able to do the same. I find that as I get older, I am MUCH less tolerent of ignorant people that don't respect others. I feel so bad that your wonderful evening was ruined. :sad2: I hope the rest of your night wasn't as bad, but I have a sinking feeling that it was...

I'm glad you booked your August trip! It's a great feeling to have another one to look forward to! (just not at All Star Sports!) :goodvibes

-Michelle

P.S. I'm sorry I missed your B-day! I hope you had a great day! :flower3:

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience on the bus ride. . . I know (and you know) that irregardless of race you would have had a terrible bus ride if the vulgar cheerleaders were even purple - it was their words and actions that were appalling.

Great thing your evening before this was wonderful!!!!

In UMama's words... OH. MY. HECK. What a horrible way to end such a lovely day. :sad2:

Let me add that Lauralee is not a person who pays lip-service to the views she stated above about tolerance - she truly walks the walk. We talked quite a bit about child-rearing and how to encourage sensitivity, kindness, understanding and acceptance of others.

If it were just you and your DH, maybe it wouldn't have been so bad. Maybe you could even have chuckled about the experience. But to try explaining this to a 5 year old? Not a job I'd relish. :grouphug: to you for getting through it.

Here's hoping the ASMu gets better...

On a happier note... are you really booked?! Where at and when? PM me!!
  Thank you my friend....I appreciate the kind words!

Yep....I booked it! POFQ...or POR...now I'm not sure...I'll have to go look. I booked the 24th to 27th of August (I think Fri to Mon) at one and September 21st to 23rd at the other and then switching to SSR. :confused3 I'll PM you probably tomorrow if I can find my paperwork!! Of course without having Michael's calendar for next school year so I don't even know when his first day of school is - hopefully it's not that Monday 8/27...we'll see!!

Thanks Michelle!! I wouldn't say the night got worse, but it didn't leave me warm and fuzzy for All Star resorts...I've got to get writing, but I've uploaded the pics and that's half the battle!

Well, well, well....LOOK WHO'S BACK!!! HI!!!:wave2:

Soooo...how was your Christmas...have you done a TR and I missed it??:confused3

And you're right, no matter what color they were it would have been an awful ride...the "white boy", etc...really irked me though...Ah well...it's over.

Good to see you back!!

HEY!

I haven't done my TR yet - I'm slacking, I know! But, in my defense, I started school as soon as we got back and have been swamped (law school is no joke). I will get on it soon though! Anyhow, it seems people on here take months to write theirs - I mean UtahMama and Zubb's trips were in September. . . 5 months now. . . so I figure I can slack a little - lol!

On a happy note - DH and I are going to Disneyland in June - first time ever!! (First time ever to even Cali, so we are excited)

Well girls - we're all going to have to celebrate in August!! I booked my room!!!
Yeah. :cheer2:

We stayed at POR last trip and loved it. Isn't that where DLM is staying?

What a horrible bus journey, the driver should have stopped and made them all get off, but I suppose that would be un-Disneyish. Trouble is until they have young kids themselves they won't realise (race bit aside) how bad their language was, although I can say that I have never really used bad language (unless it's justified like I've hurt myself etc) suppose it's the way you're brought up! Hope the last day gets better!

Ok, so by now you all know what our bus ride to the ASSp was like so I won't re-hash that. :sad2:

We finally arrived at the hotel and we made our way to our building, Center Court. We walked by the pool and it was like a frat party at Animal House...hey - maybe if I was their age, I'd be out there with them, but (and the fact that I was tired didn't help), but it was a zoo and let me tell you - these kids and their so called chaperones (or lack there of) trashed the place...there was trash all over the ground, floating in the pool, etc...it was pretty gross and I was dreading, by the sight of the outside of this place - even at night in the dark - at what our room would be like...

We got to our building and realized that we were on the top floor so we searched a bit and located the elevator to call it a night. The elevator was disgusting...the floor was soaked with God knows what and the walls/doors were almost grimy, with filth and handprints, etc...:guilty:

Yeah, yeah, I know, it's an elevator - they get dirty. It happens. I'll let it slide. The elevator doors open up on the 3rd floor and ah yes, the frat party continues. Great. I can't explain it, but just walking to room felt...icky. I had the same feeling I've gotten when forced to find a Motel 6 on 95 at 2am so I don't fall asleep behind the wheel. You know, where just the sight of the outside makes you consider sleeping in the car? :scared:

We got to our room, took a deep breath, swore to each other we'd never stay here again and opened the door to our room....:scared: I was afraid to look...but I did....and guess what?

The room was immaculate! Phew!!!:thumbsup2 Ok, it was small...I was distressed when I saw no coffee pot (I forgot about that little fact), but really - the room was spotless...no - I didn't do the Mommie Dearest white glove test, but it looked cleaner than our room at the Poly when we first checked in. Now don't get me wrong, the Poly was NOT a dirty room, but dust was clearly visible on things like the towel animal and the furniture and there was a couple of times that there'd be little scraps of paper, etc. that we may have dropped in the morning were still on the floor after housekeeping had been and gone. Anywhooo...my point is...first impressions can really hurt a place from the outside. I was pleasantly surprised.

It was pretty noisy from the kids running up and down the halls and yelling, etc...but I honestly don't recall hearing anything from the inside, like from another room, just outside noises.

We eventually settled in for the night and the beds were pretty uncomfortable...but hey - I wasn't afraid of what would crawl around the dark so that's a plus!:thumbsup2

I woke up early and went to get DH and I some "Nescacrap" and this is where I have to jump up and down and insist that every hotel room - I don't care what "category" it is - needs a coffee maker!! Do you have any idea how scary I look at 6am???? I can't take a shower - don't want to wake the boys...best I can do is try and calm the rats nest hair of mine and hope that there's not a lot of people up yet.

Oh and I had to go to the store and pick up packages I'd had shipped and bring them to the car before DH wakes to see the 55 gallon trash bag (no kidding) they packed all my World of Disney stuff in and somehow "hide" it in the car...YA...that'll work.

So I purty myself up a bit and head out...And ya know that nasty impression I'd had of the outside last night? Well it was worse in the light!!:scared: The hedges/shrubs were in desperate need of trimming, there was trash everywhere...and I mean everywhere...in the bushes...garbage all over and in the pool. It was nasty. I couldn't believe my eyes! What a shame. :sad2:

Here's some pics of the outside...see? You can't make this stuff up...
100_4120.jpg

It's hard to see from this angle - I was up on the 3rd floor, but come on, Disney's known for their landscaping. It was kind of disheartening to see stuff overgrown, etc....I know, a small complaint, maybe for some not worth mentioning, but...
100_4119.jpg

Here's a closer view of the hedges...and it wasn't just this one...everything on the grounds was over grown and unkempt looking.

100_4117.jpg

And oh - do ya love this? Look at what was in the bushes...
100_4116.jpg

This kind of stuff...clothing, pizza boxes, drink containers, bottles...were strewn all over the place...I guess I didn't get a picture of the pool area after all - I can't find it. :confused3 Maybe I deleted accidentally, but you can probably imagine what it looked like...if you look closely (DMama here's your chance) you'll see an unmentionable item to the left. Someone was missing their tighty whities when they woke up this morning!

The grounds weren't the only thing that turned me off...I mentioned the disgustingness of the elevators the night before? Yeah, they were still nasty...I took the stairs they were so gross...like they'd been puked in, pee'd in...who knows...

All around I saw things like this too...
100_4118.jpg

Ok, so by now you all get the idea...

Maybe they were having a rough week due to Pop Warner...I hope. I'm sure that it's got to be unusual as I don't often hear of these things...I'm not officially a-scared of staying at an All Star resort again...

I got the boys up, we showered and dressed and got the heck outta there!! I must say, it made it a bit easier to say goodbye to WDW this time...

I'll be back with final thoughts and then a new TR for our quick trip 2 weeks ago!!! :thumbsup2

LY/MI - You all know who you are!!!:grouphug:
So there you have it folks...

Ok..... ewwwww.

That's it. Ewwwww.

Note to self: Never ever under any circumstances visit The Happiest Place on Earth when Pop Warner is there.

I'm so sad your happy dappy drippy trippie is ending... I love reading about your famadamalama. It has been a hilariously, hairy, wild ride and I can't wait to read about your next little adventure. And of course, your little adventure in August.

Did you find the owner of those yummy tidy whities? :rotfl2:

And can I just say that I pictured you at your screen squinting to look for those little details such as....oh, I don't know....SKIDMARKS?!?!?:lmao: :lmao:
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh am I glad we go to a moderate, WDW holiday is so expensive from over here but am I glad we paid a bit more to upgrade. (last trip for 2 weeks at POR all in cost just under $12,000!!!!!!!) So whats an extra $600!?! :rotfl2:

:cheer2: I KNEW it! That's the only nice thing I can say about our one night at ASMu - that room was something beyond clean. It's almost like they try to make up for the rest of the resort by cleaning the rooms to almost impossible standards. But I'm also with you on the bed-comfort - ugh!
It was pretty noisy from the kids running up and down the halls and yelling, etc...but I honestly don't recall hearing anything from the inside, like from another room...
Well sure - cuz they were all OUTSIDE! :rotfl:

I'm in complete agreement. I need the coffee in order to get to the food court/restaurant/etc. I'm so out of it before coffee and shower, I'm afraid I might get lost on the way!

Oh and I had to go to the store and pick up packages I'd had shipped and bring them to the car before DH wakes to see the 55 gallon trash bag (no kidding) they packed all my World of Disney stuff in and somehow "hide" it in the car...YA...that'll work.
:rotfl2: I have this great mental image of you dragging a garbage bag approximately 2/3 your height all through ASSp and trying to stuff it in the spare tire well!

And oh - do ya love this? Look at what was in the bushes...
100_4116.jpg
WOW. Ok, that's officially the worst looking I've ever seen WDW grounds...

I must say, it made it a bit easier to say goodbye to WDW this time...
Well, at least it had that going for it  :rotfl:

I'll be back with final thoughts and then a new TR for our quick trip 2 weeks ago!!! :thumbsup2
Oh goody! I was worried, but I can see the progression now: Jan. TR, Aug. pre-TR, Aug. TR, Sept. pre-TR, Sept. TR.... we shouldn't be without a Lauralee TR for a looong time! :yay:

Thank you again for sharing your tales with all of us! I'll say it again: I'm so, so glad I got to meet you and can't wait till we can catch up in The World again!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm sorry - I think I just threw up a little!:scared1: You totally get my prize for valuing WDW enough to do what it takes to get there! :thumbsup2 Out of curiosity, what's the pound to US$ ratio these days? It's okay, I can take it; I lived through the US$ to Euro ratio for a week!

It's $2 to £1 at the moment (well nearly) that's why it seems so much, I put this on another thread and they nearly had a heart attack so I tried to think of a comparison which was not much better. For £6,000 we could buy a brand new ford fiesta car (basic model) this is why last summer we spent a week in freezing Scotland in a caravan so we could go to WDW again this year!!!! Next year we're just not going to eat so we can go again in 2008. :rotfl2: In comparison we went in 2003 and 2004 to St Lucia for 14 days All-inclusive for £3,000 so it's only Disney that's expensive but soooooo worth it!

Am I right??!?!? Am I right!?!? It was nasty. Just plain NASTY. I may come off as sounding like a bit of a hotel snob, which I'll admit I kind of am (after my whole Knights Inn experience in OH years ago - did I mention that before?) Anywho....I don't care if it was $60 with the A/P rate or FREE with Disney Rewards...It was still overpriced!

My that plywood LOOKED comfy with a comforter on it...:lmao:

I'm in complete agreement. I need the coffee in order to get to the food court/restaurant/etc. I'm so out of it before coffee and shower, I'm afraid I might get lost on the way!
I KNOW!! I like to sit and have some coffee and not have to look at or talk to anyone, including Tony!!:lmao: That was sooooo aggravating. And of course, where we were - somewhere out on the North 40, it was quite the walk to the food court for the Nescacrap. The moderates have coffee pots, don't they?:confused3

:rotfl2: I have this great mental image of you dragging a garbage bag approximately 2/3 your height all through ASSp and trying to stuff it in the spare tire well!
No lie...I looked like a homeless person, with this GIANT overstuffed and ripping black trash bag and it was SOOO heavy I had to keep re-adjusting my load...I tried carrying it, slinging it over my shoulder...Really, all I needed was maybe a shopping cart and a tin cup and people would have been giving me their spare change!!:lmao:

WOW. Ok, that's officially the worst looking I've ever seen WDW grounds

...Yep...I was very disappointed. I know it sounds petty - the whole shrubbery thing - but it's WDW for crying out loud. And the clothing and garbage...just NASTY.

Oh goody! I was worried, but I can see the progression now: Jan. TR, Aug. pre-TR, Aug. TR, Sept. pre-TR, Sept. TR.... we shouldn't be without a Lauralee TR for a looong time! :yay:

That's right baby....All Lauralee, All The Time...:rotfl:

Thank you again for sharing your tales with all of us! I'll say it again: I'm so, so glad I got to meet you and can't wait till we can catch up in The World again!

Love you too!!!

You poor thing.

I was raised by a neat freak and I can't even imagine a Disney Resort looking like that. (even though the proof was in the pics)

I guess in Disney's defense it was Pop Warner week.:confused3
