Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Hi Peeps!!

dimnigal1, happy that DD had fun on the slopes (and know you had to have fun with in that hot tub) :thumbsup2

ADRs are looking good...have to look at them closer..just a thought.. will Monday be too long of a day by EMH at AK in the AM and EMH at MK in the PM

AHHH - good catch - no EMH at MK that night! Thank you!! (I changed it to show right info). Hoping we can do AK without FP+ and leave around 11, then swim/rest until dinnertime and use FP+ that night at MK. Debating trying to get to MK at 3 to see the new parade but we have flexibility.

The hot tub was great!!! :cloud9: It was even better to see DD6 go skiing by in her lessons. I miss it today - too cold!

One ch-ch-change (but not Disney related). Just bought a new stroller for LO. We had a Peg P3 and a Baby Planet from DD6 but neither was good for sight-seeing and the Peg is beyond cumbersome so we're selling Peg and decided to get the City Mini after good luck with a rental we had a few years ago. Love that it's lighter and hoping it does well. I don't need a full-on jogger but I want something that can handle trips to DC and amusement parks.

Hi SueM, Hope you have a really nice spring break! :goodvibes

Hi Peeps!!
Ginny, only 8"?? :teeth: Seems like that a light day for you folks this winter!! :) don't worry... spring is coming! :flower3:

Thanks for your sweet encouragement! I see spring right around the corner!:flower::flower2::butterfly:daisy::flower1:

(And just for the heck of it, I looked up our snowfall for this winter through yesterday...it's 114.5 inches! I guess next winter we should be more thoughtful about sharing the snow and not keep so much to ourselves! :rotfl::rotfl: )

Snowfall .... usually our beautiful Squaw Valley Ski Resort gets an average of 450 inches per year so far this year only 198 ..... and I think the resort folks might be fudging a little on this years total. :scared1:

Just got word...my MIL's tumors are getting bigger...putting her on an oral biologic, which means pills and monthly visits for scans, etc. Right now I'm not sure what that means for Disney trip...whether June would be easier or not or if it makes a difference or if DH would rather not be gone that long considering...

Sending prayers for your mil.

Morning RCers,
Wookie-It is funny about those Disney specials. We watched, and then we both said, it’s time to go back to the Animal Lodge. Do you think they plant subliminal messages? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Considering the DH said we wouldn't do anything Disney on a vacation until our 85th wedding anniversary, I would say that load them with subliminal messages.

(And just for the heck of it, I looked up our snowfall for this winter through yesterday...it's 114.5 inches! I guess next winter we should be more thoughtful about sharing the snow and not keep so much to ourselves! :rotfl::rotfl: )

114.5 inches? I don't think we even got 4 inches. You really do need to stop hogging all the snow. :lmao:

I am thinking of talking to my friend about changing to the Boardwalk Villas. We both really want to stay at the Villas at the Grand Floridian, but the BWV is $336 cheaper. Plus I just wonder if there will be availability at the VGF.

Just popping on to say Hi

I am so far behind on my reading of the thread I am Clueless . I did read the last page and see lots of talk about Disneyland :) Loved DL and would love to go back someday. We loved staying at The DisneyLand Hotel and most likely would stay there again.

We thought Bella was making a breakthrough last Friday as she did somehow move herself from the tile flooring over to the rug infront of the couch and then tried to later raise herself up but could not quite do it.

Please say a prayer for my baby to get well.

Woke up to temp of 51 today but winter is suppose to return tomorrow :( I hope the weather is nice where all my RC friends are!

Somehow missed your Bella update, but saw it just now on Janet's post! :thumbsup2 so glad to hear there has been some improvement. Very encouraging! Prayers for you and Bella.

A bit leary or anxious about a value stay after deluxe stays...even our off site trips were at the Doubletree Suites...and getting in so late the first night, having to lug our bags and two tired/half asleep kids to the room...

:wave2: Hanging in there, waiting for Spring!!! Had it for a minute and now it's gone... *sighs* Hope you are well!
All good here..down to one job. Sore, but from 2 whopping days of exercise..feeling happy!

:wave2: hi everyone! Just checking in and hope everyone is doing well!! It's been so busy around here! Looking forward to 2 weeks off. Spring break starts Monday, woohoo :worship:
:wave2:Hi Sue!!!
Yep, no more changing for you my friend!! Do i need to take over your ressie? :rotfl2:
 Too bad Melissa's family didn't like WL...what's everyone's thoughts regarding AKL :lmao:

The snowblower has been placed back in the shed...I hope that is not bad luck :crazy2:

Don't be, the value resorts are really compact IMO, and the theming is SO much fun for the kiddos. We went from CL to Pop and I am telling you the whole gang had a magical time pixiedust:

Thanks Jeanette! :-) That does make me feel better.

Looking at award travel times/dates now. Does ME still pick up 3 hours before your flight? We can fly out of our own airport instead of driving to Chicago, but the return flight's at 7:30 in the morning... :-/ But it would mean no parking fees and no extra hotel fees, etc.

That's so sad... when we were in Monterey we took trips to Yosemite and Tahoe and I think of both places as covered in feet of snow as it was DD6's first foray into winter (previous experience was Hawaii). She absolutely loved sledding both places and running in the snow and it's what pushed us to go skiing each year we've been east. Hoping for precip for you all!!! Goodness knows we're sick of it out this way!

I absolutely love the BW area -- DH and I both agree that YC was absolutely AH-MAZING for so many reasons and would probably love BW without clown-fearing DD. :clown: I think you're set either way you choose, by my heart is with BW resorts

I think as long as you don't go into it thinking "DELUXE" and trying to compare the levels of resort you can enjoy it. The fact you could save money or reallocate onto different areas of the trip means you won't be thinking "If we had downgraded we could eat more nice meals" or "We could've stayed another day or two". And, even if you had to pitch a tent at FW, you'd still be at Disney!

WOOHOO for working out! I'm liking next week's forecast (50/60's!) and some of the other military mommas are trying to start doing a GTG to walk the kiddos. Well, they can run, but I'm stuck walking for awhile longer... still, eager to get out and get moving!

Love that reinforcement of Value!

*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*

Just found out we got selected in the Lottery for the White House Easter Egg Roll! Always wanted to do it as a kid and excited to take the girls! Another thing to plan!!!

Debating different scenarios for December so I can pitch to ILs next month. Would love input! Planning doing park days 20-24 and having Christmas as a family resort/dining/pool day and 26 as a day to tour the resorts (and one group will be leaving). ((Savings are total for whole group of 11))

#1 20-27: POFQ (currently booked)

#2 20-24, 24-27: split WL /SoG (save $700, $500 w/ airport trans)

#3 20-24, 24-27: split POFQ/SoG (save $1100, $900 w/ airport trans)

Option #1 allows us to stay same room all week, transportation to and from airport, and FP+ in case anyone wants to do late evening park touring 25 or 26.

Option #2 allows us to enjoy the decorations and atmosphere of deluxe but have to move resorts ourselves and get ourselves to airport (not too hard but cuts into savings). SoG allows for easy access to Poly Beach to watch fireworks on Christmas and Ohana/WC/PF (meals I'm thinking of doing as a family).

Option #3 similar to #2 but doing mod instead of deluxe.

I would go with Options 1 or 2...if you're going to do the mod, I'd stay put the whole time. :-) Otherwise, getting some time in deluxe before moving to SoG gives you the best of both worlds and a nice compromise it seems. :-)

As for camping at FW, we used to do that when I was a kid and we did Disney World! :-) If we weren't flying and it was sometime other than the heat of summer, I would totally go for this! :-)

ME is about 3 hours before. For a 730am flight...EEK. BUT the kids may nap on the plane making for a great flight :) And seriously, Krystal you will have a great time. I thought my kids would be bummed having no pool slide. They LOVED the bowling pin pool at Pop, quiet, nice lifeguards. I also have wonderful memories of All Star Movies as a young family, my boys LOVED it SO much. I mean it is DISNEYWORLD!!!

OOOOHHHH!!!! I hope you get to do the White House Easter Egg hunt COOOOLLLLLL!!!!!

Thank you for the exercise reinforcement, I really want to get healthy (and lose weight). My abs and thighs are screaming today, but I worked through it! Not working as many hours and only taking one class I can afford 1/2 hour to take care of me !

I had no clue SoG didn't have Magical Express :worried: Honestly, I am in such a WL mood...I'd go with the WL/SoG split!!!

Speaking of WL, I asked DS5 about WL or YC...he asked about the snack room, he says he loves the snack room. I said both have snack rooms and asked which one? He said Grand Floridian :faint: I love my baby boy!! :rotfl:

DS is too scared to go down any slides so that's definitely not a problem! :-) DD is too small to go down a slide yet (even though she'd probably love it). And yes, you're right. No matter what, it's Disney World and they have no idea we're even going. Their cousins just left today (staying in a LK suite at AoA) and DS is completely jealous already.

It'd be nice to not have to drive the 3 hours home afterward (or the 3 hours to the airport) and napping on the plane would be awesome! :-) (just have to deal with the short connecting flight from our home airport to OHare and back)

I have it narrowed down to 6 options so far, including what we currently have booked. Think I will write them down for DH to make the final call...

Too funny about your DS. :-) Thankfully my kids aren't spoiled by CL yet! ;-)

Koh1977 Those are my thoughts exactly - either benefits of mod whole time or enjoy Deluxe before moving! And I am not a camper but we have looked into renting a pop up for FW one trip... just for something different!

It's so hard and so important to find that 'me' time!!! so glad you have some!

I wish SoG even did a shuttle bus but what can you do? SIL is thinking of renting a car anyway (she and DH are not 'mouse people' so they want to explore a bit) so our thought is if they do that, DH can rent a car the SoG part of the trip and we can get everyone to the airport super easy and cheaper than a shuttle if need be.

And, ROTFL your son! :rotfl2: That's an awesome response! A future RC if i ever heard one!

I feel you! I actually have 7 for December but 1 is WAY out of budget, 2 aren't feasible (but I want to have them covered to explain why) and 1 is 'eh'. But, i want to lay them all out so if ILs ask I can say "here is what it would cost but here is what we sacrifice" DH thinks I'm crazy but I know they will have sticker shock until they get the lowdown and understand once we pay X amount, it's only Y more to have an exponentially better trip.... at least, that's the hope!

DS was under 2 when he stayed at GF CL, and he was smitten with one of the CMs there. I do believe he remembers it :)

How are the ADRs for June coming along?

There are even RVs for rent at FW I heard. SO COOL! A coworker did that and saved a bunch. My son is something else.

Actually they're not too bad, especially with the newest June options for travel times. :-) not so upset about having to do Chef Mickey's for dinner since we don't have time for breakfast on our departure day anyway. And I will keep checking on earlier CRT times and possible dessert parties open, BUT at least we get dinner in the castle with the princesses (which yes, takes 2 TS credits, BUT no tips OOP!)

Last August we stayed our first night at Pop, and this deluxe loving girl was surprised that I did enjoy it! Don't they have bell service to help with luggage?
That would make things easier for you!

No bell services I was told, and it's too late to get ME to deliver them to the room... They could be left with luggage services and they can bring them to the room (at that time of night, it could be quicker than the normal hour or so)

Hello all. I thought I would come to the experts for help on my first ever resort change!

I booked my trip about two weeks ago, but would now like to take advantage of the new promo that is set to be offered Monday. Our current hotel is POFQ, which is excluded. I am hoping the discount offers us the chance to change to POR Royal Guest rooms for less money! So my questions, change gurus, are

1. Is it better to cancel my current resie and just go back in on Monday and start fresh?
2. Or call Disney and have them change the current package to a room only?

Additional background--we had the dining plan, and tickets through Disney. After extensive back and forth with my DH we have decided oop is better and we would like to buy tickets from UT.

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated!

:welcome: Since you are booking a room only, you do have to cancel the package so you will have to call. Since the public discount is coming out tomorrow, phone lines will be crazy, so if you can book online DO IT!!! The reason I mention it is I have often found availability online that the CMs on the phone do not. Good luck tomorrow, and let us know how you make out!! I love hearing about savings and upcoming trips!!!!:cool1: When are you going???
